Never Again. Oak Inn gets 1 star because 0 stars isn't an option.
Having not been familiar with the area, I trusted their website to book my room: "The exterior of our motel does not yet match the quality of our rooms." This is a lie. The exterior completely matches the interior.
This motel would have been fine if we had only stayed for one night, but we were in the area on an extended visit. We stayed in the room that is pictured on their website, as well as the travel websites.
1. The soda machine doesn't work and forget about ice. There isn't any.
2. There is no dresser. There's a credenza with cubby holes. Not good for two people in a hotel for 5 days.
3. The inn is also an apartment complex. Not that this is a bad thing, but I would prefer to NOT stay in an apartment complex.
4. For the 5 days we were there, there was no maid service. No one changed our towels, cleaned up the room, emptied the trash or made the bed. I wasn't expecting fresh linens and bedding every day, but I should definitely NOT have to go 5 days with the same towels!
5. Bedding: Ewww. There was no blanket and the bedspread had plenty of holes. The pillows were flat as a board and old, completely gross looking, old. We slept without. But of course, seeing the condition of the pillows, it made me wonder about the bed.
6. There was no coffee pot, iron or hair dryer. Seriously, I haven t stayed in a hotel in 15 years that didn t have a hair dryer or iron. As for the coffee pot, it would have been nice if the office would have at least had coffee.
7. The shower bar was missing, so there were two holes in the shower. That was just plain weird.
8. They advertise Cable and HBO/Cinemax. While technically they DO have cable and HBO/Cinemax, the cable was completely screwed up and HBO and Cinemax were unviewable due to the snow on the screen. Besides that, the remote stopped working on Day 2.
9. The air conditioner was so loud that we couldn't sleep with it on, but it was too hot to shut it off. I realize that air conditioners are usually loud in a motel/hotel, but this was FAR louder than I've ever had to deal with before.
10. The ants arrived in our room on Day 4.
Yes, they have a refrigerator and a microwave, but I could have done without both if it meant having clean linens. I will definitely be staying at the more expensive place in town the next time we come here. read more
