    Becks Quality Cabinets

We are in the process of remodeling our kitchen and 2 bathrooms, and Becks is our contractor. So…read morefar we have been working with Anna, and she has been patient, helpful, letting us make all the decisions, offering help when asked.

We have had nothing but problems going with Becks Quality Cabinets. To make this reader friendly,…read moreI'll summarize and then go into more details for those who are considering Becks for their cabinetry need. 1. Poor communication 2. Installed damaged product (scratches, dents, and dings) - would not fix to industry standards 3. Requested soft close everything - only got soft close drawers. - Wouldn't switch out hinges even after we stated we would pay the difference. 4. Solid state countertops wouldn't fit in bathroom - due to wrong sized cabinet drawers/measuring 5. Owner was disrespectful and horrible to deal with. For those who are still reading thank you, my wife and I went around to many local cabinet companies and landed on Becks Quality Cabinets through a friend's recommendation. We had our initial visit, and two designers came out to the house to get some measurements in April/May of 2022. We met them at Becks to discuss the drawings/measurements/blueprints. Then radio silent for months. I had to reach out to them end of 2022 to see where they were with our initial set of plans. Turns out, the designer left the company, and we fell off the radar. After that, we paid the 50% down payment which gave us a spot in their queue. So, the date came to have our brand-new dream cabinets installed. Then that dream turned into absolute nightmare! The cabinets were installed; however, not the countertops. It can take up to 3 weeks for them to measure/cut/install the countertop after the cabinets were installed. Thanks for the notification that we will be without water for 3 weeks as were doing the kitchen and both bathrooms. Last minute plans were made to try and survive those 3 weeks. Living out of tubs and washing dishes in the bathtub. The lack of communication continues... 2 or 3 weeks later they arrived and installed the countertops. The subcontractors they used Olson's Contractors or something like that used trim that was sitting in my garage to hold up our undermount sinks without even asking us. I had to get new trim to replace the ones they cut up. After the install was complete, there was a drag when opening a drawer in the main bathroom due to the drawer and countertop touching. We've contacted BAGM to see if they would trim down the countertop a fraction of an inch to allow enough clearance. Someone from BAGM came and agreed this drawer was rubbing and would fix it. He sent the contractors back to the house and their solution was to grind down our new bathroom sink to get it to fit. Again, without consulting us. They were grinding in the bathroom over my daughter personal bathroom supplies (comb, toothbrush, etc.) without covering or removing the drawer. Everything covered in porcelain dust. Didn't fix the issue. In this process, they damaged the wall removing the countertop (they never fixed this). They replaced the sink because. They replaced it hoping that the placement of the new sink would be enough to make it fit. Guessed it again, Nope! During this encounter, I reached out to BAGM via email that I do not want Olson's contractors back in my house under any circumstance. That's when I started noticing all this flaws with our kitchen cabinets. The first was the glaring very light tan/almost white nail filler puddy they used to cover up the nail holes. We chose American Cherry for the warm colors it will deepen into. Knowing that cherry gets darker with age, this nail holes will be even more noticeable. Then we started noticing dings in finish issues with the cabinets. Five cabinet doors had dings in them. The cabinets above the stove were removed eventually to have it refinished. And apparently, we "conned" his people into taking back the pantry which had finishing issues that was in the result of their people trying to fix the nail hole putty issue after the owner stated he didn't see any issues with the finish. I told the finisher that this is unexpectable and pointed out all the flaws which then led to the removal and refinishing of the one side of the pantry. After this repair, the owner stated in an email that he would replace the 5 doors that had damage. Weeks later they took those doors and "fixed" them with WAX which was noticeable and asked for the owner to replace them, which he then tried to wiggle out of replacing by say that he said he would fix them and he did. I pulled up the email with him stated "replace" and he finally did so. At the end of 3 months of having Becks/Olsons/BAGM at our house no less than 20 times and more than I can count back and forth calls/emails/texts, we've agreed to disagree.

He used phrases like "on the high side" and I can't imagine it being more than that," and made us feel assured that our budgeting was appropriate. Given that, we agreed to a deposit of $250 for him to go ahead with a formal quote, per company policy. When the proposal came back, it was $45K, which is more than double what we had discussed. While I understand that quality work and materials are costly, I don't understand how his verbal estimates were so grossly inaccurate, especially when he said he's been working there for 18 years. While I understand the deposit was intended to cover his time in gathering the estimates, and that he "doesn't work for free," a large part of his job is properly estimating potential costs for potential clients, and he did not do that. We agreed to the $250 deposit based on incredibly inaccurate numbers, and when I requested our deposit back, we were denied (twice.) While I don't think it was his intention to be deceptive, we felt swindled out of $250. I was very disappointed that they weren't willing to refund us.

Quick to respond, great ideas for us that we'd never otherwise have considered, careful attention to all details, quality product selection, expert workmanship, schedule stick-to-it-tive-ness, follow-through, I could go on & on. They will probably never be the lowest bidder, but you want a job well done you will always get that from DeLeers.
