I could never in good conscience recommend Rucon Construction to anyone wanting to build or remodel…read morea house. Building our dream home turned into a nightmare of epic proportions.... To the point that I can't even feel happy about living in the home, now that it is complete. Their subcontractor made recommendations counter to established design criterion and basically ruined my 4 acre yard. The resultant fix will mean I won't have a yard for my kids to play in for another year. A 1000-2000K estimate suddently turned into a $6700 bill... post closing. Without a word of explanation, they expected us to accept their overcharges. And they were unable to handle simple problem solving. God forbid you make any changes to materials during the building process- they couldn't adapt. At one point after their sub had spraypainted orange marks on the basement floor, which needed to be cleaned, they suggested WE come in and do the work ourselves. With a carcinogenic cleanser & no proper protective equipment. And that is just the tip of the iceberg. Absolutely horrid communication. Outright lies. And utter incompetence. That is what we got from Rucon. Oh-- and a house that makes me sad every time I think about it. Please-- If you are even considering giving Rucon any of your hard earned money-- reconsider. This builder USED to be reputable. I've talked with home owners who were happy with the company when it was run by the parents. Now that the sons are at the helm... There are lots of good builders in the Valley. Rucon isn't one of them. ** edited 12/14. It has been one year since we moved in. There are still items from my move in checklist that they haven't fixed. Like the fact that they painted my front door the wrong color. From the initial walk through to the final touch ups, this company did an outstanding job. Let me give you a quick overview of how easy it was to work with these contractors. First, the initial sales person, Michael, was incredibly knowledgeable and able to see the vision we had for the first floor. He took a good number of photos and then met with other project managers at their office. From here, we met with an amazing designer, Halley. She answered every question I had and promised me she would guide me along the way. I had some ideas, and everything I forgot, she gently guided to a solution. I was able to pick everything from the exact sink and faucet, to backsplash and flooring. The amazing communication continued throughout the project using an app called buildertrend. We knew when the contractors were arriving for each step of the process. We were also able to ask questions through the app and received quick responses. I did have a couple of change orders, and even those were handled seamlessly. My project has been done now for about three months, and every day I love seeing the finished project.
