Long…read morestory short, at this kind of place, unless you specifically see one person you like, it's so up in the air as to the quality of haircut you're going to get. The last time I went to this location, the haircut was great. This time was horrible. I told Isabel that I wanted about an inch cut off, long layers and still be able to put my hair up. Well she just started hacking away. She said she was doing the layers first. Ok I thought. Then she just keeps cutting. Not sectioning my hair at all at she went. I don't have to be a hair stylist to know that's how you're supposed to cut hair. I can also tell she's barely even cutting the inch off that I wanted and just doing the layers. I tell her there's barely anything cut (other than the layers) so she keeps cutting. Well she went nuts with the layers so now the front half of my hair is in shortish layers that I didn't want and also don't go back into a ponytail like I requested. She even went to cut off more from the front and told her to stop because it was already short enough! And despite all that....the back is completely uneven. It's also hard to stop someone mid cut to tell them you don't like it because she's working fast and I have hair in my face so I can't see until it's done. I just wanted to get the heck out of there. Thankfully most of my hair still goes up because that's how I will be wearing it until this mess grows out. EDIT: I called the next day and Teresa the manager said I could come in and get it fixed. She was very nice, apologetic and made it much better.

A Chicago wedding gave me the opportunity to finally get my hair cut and blown out. I had the first…read moreappointment of the day (9am) with Frankie. Frankie is a great conversationalist and stylist! She listened carefully to what I was looking for and managed to build on the vision. In addition to cutting 3 inches off, she added some layers while keeping it low maintenance. To finish it off, she even put some temporary black spray to cover up my greys. It has pretty good staying power; I only noticed minimal rub off on my pillow. I'm on day two of the blow dry, and my hair still looks great! I paid $45 for the cut and blow dry, not including tip. It was worth every penny for me, not to mention a great souvenir from this trip to Chicago!

I am VERY picky when it comes to my hair and Jessica is a hair god! I would trust her with my hair completley and have never come across anyone as good as her. Sadly due to certain situations she had to stop doing hair. I continued to still go to this place and try Francci, a new person they hired to take jessica's place. The first time I went to her the color completley faded after one wash, even though I made sure to wash in cold water. They told me to come and would fix it free of charge, which i was very happy about! They DID not tell me they were bleaching my hair again about 2-3 days later. After that my hair COMPLETLEY broke off in multiple spots. When I was leaving the salon they kept telling me how good my hair looked, even though it looked terrible. When I got home clumps and clumps were coming out. When I texted francci what had happened she told me it was normal and nothing to worry about. On top of all that they charged me somewhere around $500 from going to dark brown to silver. I understand and was ready to pay that much but when you burn someone's hair off you would think they would compensate you or even give you the service for free. Not to mention during the bleach process she put a plastic bag over my head (I am in cosmetology school and was told to NEVER do that). My head started to get hot and I told her that, and she said "that's a good thing." It got to a point where it was unbearable so I said again to Francci "it's getting really hot" and she then said "oh wow it is hot let's wash you off!" When they took the plastic bag off there was literally steam coming off my head. I was also promised a free haircut and money off my new few services and never got it, even though I continued to go back. Every single time I went back I had more and more problems. There would be times my hair would have blonde patches, as if it wasn't even dyed. There are pictures below to show everything I am talking about. I am just posting this because I would hate for this to happen to anyone else. It's been almost year now and am still dealing with the consequences of my hair being broke off and fragile. They were almost more than unprofessional as one time they had an intern help with HALF of my hair and did not charge me any less for that either. I use to trust this place with everything and now I would never go back ever. Not to mention, Peggie once spilled coffee on my Louis Vuitton purse and said "oops" I attached pictures of my burnt off pieces and tried to compare the burnt pieces to how long my hair actually is (ignore the purple, I did that myself which turned out better and less patchy than going to this salon.)

I've been a long-term customer at Rocco & Rocco, and so has my entire family, but our most recent…read moreexperience was extremely disappointing. A family member had an appointment with the stylist Maureen. The front desk apparently booked the appointment incorrectly, and instead of handling the situation professionally, the stylist appeared frustrated. The service felt rushed, shortcuts were taken, and she was physically rough, pulling on my family member's hair and face in ways that made her uncomfortable. The end result was uneven and not what we expected, and my sister's hair was left noticeably botched. I contacted the manager, Dominic, who initially said he would help arrange a makeup appointment. Instead, he later told my family member he did not believe her concerns and informed her she would no longer be accepted as a client. Only a partial refund was offered for a service that cost nearly $300. UPDATE: the owner, Ron Rocco, called me. He said he was reaching out to help schedule a new appointment, but the call quickly shifted to him saying he did not want to do my family member's hair. Throughout the call, he repeatedly raised his voice and spoke over me, not allowing me to speak. As a younger woman speaking with an older male business owner, the interaction felt intimidating, uncomfortable, and unprofessional. During the call, he also mentioned that he had checked with the stylist to confirm whether my family member had tipped. She had tipped generously, and the comment felt completely unnecessary and out of place. He also stated that he is at the salon every day, which differs from what staff members had previously told us. He mentioned that he was "not threatend of a Yelp review," and I want to be clear: reviews are not threats. They are honest accounts of customer experiences. Everything in this review is truthful and based entirely on firsthand interactions. I also received a notice from Yelp that the business attempted to have my review removed. Key points: --I personally do not feel safe or comfortable returning to this salon. -I do not recommend booking with Maureen based on how she handled this situation. -In my experience, the business did not prioritize customer satisfaction or take accountability. -Management made me feel that customer concerns were dismissed rather than addressed. -The service felt overpriced for the rushed quality delivered. -Several interactions with the front desk staff felt unprofessional and unfriendly. -As a young woman, my interactions with both management and ownership felt uncomfortable and intimidating. -My sister's hair was left uneven and poorly done, which added to the frustration. -The salon seemed willing to tolerate the behaviors and issues we experienced rather than fixing them. -To quote Ron Rocco "Yelp reviews don't threaten me"! So I highly recommend you listen to the ones that are on here. -Because of the stylist's behavior, management's response, and my interaction with the owner, I cannot recommend this salon, especially to other young women or anyone who expects professionalism, respect, and consistency.
