I attempted to book a reservation more than 3 days prior to my arrival in Honolulu. I was told quite pointedly that they ONLY book reservations 1-3 days in advance. When I said that i was concerned about them being booked by the time I called, Dave admitted that this was a possibility. When I said that I like to take care of such things in advance, he said that they have issues with "people calling and wanting to do things on their terms and then get snotty with me when I won't do things their way." In my opinion, that is not good customer service. Whatever happened to "the customer is always right?" I work in the hospitality industry and it is not unusual for people to book airport transfers well in advance and certainly more than 3 days out is not unusual. At the last minute, my husband tells me he can't pick me up from my mainland flight...so I call these guys. BOOM. There they are, right outside the doors, waiting for me when I get off my flight. Friendly, flexible and affordable. Van is clean. Driver friendly and safe, no charge for luggage and just me - right to my door - no sharing. I was a little light on cash, so I paid with a credit card and got no heat at all. Seriously. What else can you ask for (besides an airport pick-up from the husband). I used these guys four times over the course of two back to back trips. Dave (I believe that's his name), the owner, is a bit gruff on the phone, but the driver he assigned to pick me up, Candy, is a real nice lady. Prior to traveling, I was given the instructions as to how the pick up would go down. They would be monitoring my flight so they could see if I was on time or delayed. Upon landing and retrieving my bag, I was to call and indicate that I was ready to leave. They would tell me exactly where to stand and *boom*, I'd be whisked away. It went just like that. When we were wheels down in HNL, I turned on my phone. I had a message from Candy, introducing herself as the driver who would be taking me to my hotel and that I should give her a call when I had my bag and was ready to go. Went to baggage claim, walked out and called her. Within a couple of minutes, she was at the curb and off my partner and I went. During the trip to the hotel, I asked about paying with a credit card. Candy hesitated because I suspect she wanted the cash out right. I hesitated because I was saving the cash for my final destination. After a little back and forth, it was clear I wasn't paying with anything but the CC. When I told her what time I wanted to be picked up the next day, she was there early and ready to go. She got us back to the airport, no muss no fuss. I indicated that I'd need pick up service the following Friday and she said to just call her direct. When I came back, the same procedures applied on my arrival and she took me to my hotel. Three days later, she picked up the FOH and I at our hotel to take us back to the airport. This is where stars are lost. She had her other half in the van, which I suppose isn't that big of a deal, but very slightly unprofessional. The worst part was that she took a personal phone call as we got closer to the airport. We hit unexpected traffic and took a little longer to get to the airport than expected, so just as we got off the highway, I wanted her to get a jump start on getting the credit card approval so we could arrive curbside and get going. She was still on the phone, so I said, "Candy, let's get the credit card started". She told her friend she had to go, but apparently the friend kept on talking. So did she. Finally, I waved the credit card in the air and said, "Let's do this. Now." All in all, very reliable and I would recommend Candy to anyone needing car service to Waikiki. We paid 30.00 each time for the two of us and all of our bags. Don't try to take a cheaper route to the hotels like my FOH did...he thought he'd save a few bucks and he ended up taking a much longer route because of so many stops. Dave must either need a vacation, or he seriously lacks the aloha spirit. The other reviewer was not exaggerating about his apathetic, discourteous attitude or about getting lectured by him. He does a stellar job at giving tongue lashings that's for sure. Perhaps he should consider renaming his business to Nazi Airport Express! Before you're convinced by anything in Dave's long-winded rebuke of the other reviewer, we WERE paying customers, but will NEVER patronize this business again nor recommend them to anyone. Other than the apparent arrogance and rudeness of the owner, here is what happened to us. In December 2010, we hired this shuttle service upon our return home to Oahu. Because our plane arrived during the H-1 rush hour traffic jam, Dave sent what appeared to be an off-duty, rundown taxi cab which included a filthy backseat littered with a child's lost shoe, a regular-sized umbrella and other personal bits of junk like wrappers and paper that belonged better in a garbage can. After climbing into the smelly vehicle, the "cab" driver proceeded to explain that Dave probably didn't want to get stuck in bumper to bumper traffic and that this might be the reason why he received the call to pick us up. Whatever the case, at least we were home and could jump into a hot shower after sitting in a pig pen for the 45 minute ride. This is another perfectly valid reason why we will never call on this company again. read more

I usually cab it when I need a ride to and from the airport in Honolulu but I'm also not usually travelling with an entourage either. So when I needed to make arrangements for me, my sister, bro-in-law and nephew, I decided to find a shuttle to take the stress out of the ride to our hotel. I called a few days before our flight and requested a mini-van (in addition to us, we had a lot of luggage LOL). Dave took down my info and also gave me instructions on what to do once we got our luggage. Once we arrived at HNL and grabbed our luggage, I called again to let them know we were ready to be picked up. Our driver was already there waiting, so we loaded up and were on our way. Candy was our driver and she was really nice, but kinda spacy. So much so that we almost didn't call for a return ride to the airport. I didn't really mind so much, but my sister had an expectation of more service, which I'll admit was a bit lacking. But hey, a $30 ride to the airport is pretty cheap, so I called again to make a reservation. I asked if we would be getting Candy again and Dave said he wasn't sure. So fast forward to getting to the airport. I called to see where our driver was because it was a few minutes after our pickup time. Dave answered and said he was on his way as the other driver was stuck somewhere. Once Dave arrived, he quickly loaded the minivan and we were on our way. We had a nice conversation with him on the way to the airport - we told him about our previous experience - my sister really laid it out for him. I think he did well answering her concerns as diplomatically as possible. And as far as the experience with him, it was stellar - he gave us the kind of service that I expect from an executive/towncar type service. Bottom line - I would not hesitate to use this service again and would definitely recommend for travelers to Oahu. I made a phone reservation, no problem, and Dave himself arrived to take me to the airport. He was professional, friendly, prompt, and a good driver. The shuttle was clean and comfortable. We had a little snafu that was entirely my own fault, and Dave graciously accommodated me. Arrival was on-time, and we had a pleasant conversation on the way. I needed a return pick-up, and he was going to be on vacation, so he recommended another service for my return. NO where else are you going to find the service that you will find with Dave. I called him on Sunday afternoon for a pick up on Monday for the three of us. I meant to call sooner but it was after 9 PM Hawaii time and I didn't want to wake him. His reply: Oh, you could have called!" Anyhow, I got off the plane and there was a voice mail waiting for me. It was Dave, checking to see where we were. He then guided me to where he was and who could miss him, waving and all bubbly. He was RIGHT outside the baggage claim so we did not have to walk very far. He loaded up all of our luggage and then took us to our hotel. Along the way my guys had a nice hilarious conversation with Dave about hammers and Hawaii. He had us in stitches! The ride went too fast!! Dave unloaded our luggage for us and wished us well. I tipped him an extra $10 because, well, he really deserved it. My only regret: Not buying some of Daves 100% Kona Coffee. Next time I will!! 100% worth your money, just for Daves entertainment!! Oahu Airport Express is convenient and relatively inexpensive. Sure, for two people riding on one of the buses is cheaper, but you also cannot schedule your pickup to suit your own personal schedule - plus you waste a lot of time just sitting on the bus standing still. Dave picked us up EXACTLY on time, and had us to the airport very soon after. I'll likely use his company for both directions next time I am in Honolulu. read more

This was my first time in Hawaii, but I think this is the only way to be picked up. Was traveling with family and needed something low maintenance and Dave delivered that. The reservations worked exactly as the website said and if he picks you up he'll find a way to drop you off at the end of the trip, even if your flight gets changed four times! I am traveling with my family that includes children and I called to make a reservation a few weeks in advance. Dave was extremely rude and said that he did not take reservations in advance. I booked by shuttle pick up on Wednesday, April 5th for pick up from Honolulu airport on Thursday April 7th at 11:30am. While on the phone he (I forgot the mans name but he ended up also being our driver) seemed slightly impatient and pushy but nothing that would put me off of booking the shuttle, they had a good price and mostly good reviews on yelp so I wasn't too worried about it. It turned out the driver that was scheduled to pick us up was held up on a previous drive so I believe it was the owner who picked us up. He was on time and texted me while we were waiting for our luggage that he was outside and waiting for us, which was great! Once in the van and on our way to our hotel the driver offered to take the long way to show us around town, we declined as we wanted to hit the beach as soon as possible but he seemed put off by our reply. He then proceeded to talk about web design and web building the entire rest of our drive to our hotel, which was not a conversation we wanted to have as we arrived in Hawaii for the first time. When we did ask questions, he was smug and made us feel like the questions were kind of stupid. We were scheduled to be picked up by Oahu Airport Express but due to the bad taste the first driver gave us, we cancelled and booked a different shuttle service, which went WAY better. read more

I recently used the services of the Oahu Airport Express and it was beyond my expectations. Looked online to make reservations but they need a 72 hr window prior to your scheduled transportation. Called the office to book my transfer and Jeff was extremely helpful and pleasant to speak with. He took down the necessary information in a quick manner and everything was set. The driver even called later that evening to confirm the pick-up as I left early the next morning. The driver again the morning of the pick up to let me know he was there but to take my time. The entire ride to the airport the driver talked story. My overall experience was exceptional. At little shocking as the driver always said ma'am. Dave and his crew of drivers are great. Made both ends of our trip very easy, especially when we returned from a 30 hour trip from Budapest. As we landed and I turned on my phone much to my delight a message from our driver popped up and he was already waiting for us. Great pick up service! I organized the pick up the day before my flight and was given clear instructions as to how the process worked.
