My doctor , Dr Thomas Shoenhofen sent me to Dr. McCall due to the severeness of the injuries caused by the falls. I made an appointment for the first available time nevertheless, the pain, swelling, numbness , tingling and color changes prompted me to ask to be seen by Dr. McCall as a "Walk-In", which is offered to patients unable to wait for an appointment. I was shocked, when the receptionist demanded I pay $350 in order to be put on Dr. McCall's waiting list, because she claimed my Medicare was suspended. I was not only humiliated and embarrassed by the receptionists ( there were 2 of them)., but also spoken to rudely and with no empathy whatsoever in front of a room full of waiting patients. I had no choice but to pay the money because of all the pain, etc. After paying the $350 on my Visa Nordstrom Credit Card and waiting more than 2 and a half hours, Dr McCall did nothing but look at mt leg and say there was nothing he could do to help. He asked if I had a wrap at home my reply was "no". He then wrapped the leg and said to see him in 2 weeks " But only if my leg was not better. We don't need to just visit" I then mentioned to him about the unprofessionalism of his receptionists. He stated " Isn't it nice to be able to be seen by the doctor as a walk-in? The therapist (ATI) recommended by Hinsdale Orthopedics was totally incompetent but I was JUST getting my range of motion back and the MUA caused swelling putting me back to square one. Had he not done that, I would've gotten my ROM back. Insurance dropped me because I "wasn't making progress". I fell into deep depression as I was an extreme athlete and now I'm a cripple with a cane.

PT staff helpful, but only after having continued knee issues did I realize there was very little analysis or review of my personal situation, and those issues (I believe) not considered during surgery. Also information after surgery not as thorough as before surgery. Would have been nice to know what can or can't be done with replacement - like you're not supposed to run with knee replacement, can you kneel on the replacement, and what I was originally told " you will be able to return to normal activity in three months" can change to " it takes up to a year to heal" when the replacement does not go as expected. I still hold out hope with PT and working out, my knee issues will resolve. Plan on losing 3-6 months to a year of your life recovering before returning to normal activities. It's not an easy surgery.

It's part of the outpatient section of Central DuPage Hospital. It looks very nice, the chairs are nice and cushy, but it is FREEZING in there! Bring a jacket. The paper robe in the offices don't cut it. I was desperate! We saw Dr. Kiesler for the last broken wrist as well as this one and really like how thorough he is in his explanations. We had a choice between a splint and a cast and my son openly admitted that he had to have a cast because he would take the splint off a lot. Rather than lecture on the subject, the doctor accepted it and moved on. The staff was very thorough with all the cast preparations including explaining to me that the waterproof option was not always covered by insurance. Its covered by my insurance, well at least for now. Dr. Kiesler put the cast on himself which I really appreciated. The parking can be confusing here. Park in lot 1 and then go in the outpatient building and up to the 5th floor. Don't forget that jacket!

Dr. Paul and his team performed surgery on the lumbar area of my spine, removed bone spurs and repurposed bone from part of my spine to reinforce a weakened area.
