I feel like a sushi connoisseur having lived in Japan for years, and for the price point this place delivers quality every time. I've had most of the rolls on the menu, and over the years I've had friends order from the hot food and every - even sushi first timers- have enjoyed their meals and plan to come back! No carrots. ($5) - 2 Octo sashimi ($3.73 ea) - 1 Tuna Roll ($7) - 1 Hot Tea ($4.50) The grand total was about $27 for the above food when taking tax into account. O Yummy Sushi is good quality, good quantity, all you can eat sushi buffet. You will not be disappointed if you value sushi, buffets, Japanese food, or good value. This is not the highest quality sushi (AYCE model) but it only costs $25 for unlimited made-to-oder sushi and is a good deal at that. I found tons of great options like rainbow roll, cucumber salad, steamed and friend dumplings, tuna nigiri, shrimp tempura, spicy crab, and nice soup. Wide variety of classic hits for sushi fans. Easy to get your fill. Definitely better than grocery store or fast food sushi. The service was above average. My friendly waitress came to see me every 10 minutes or so to see if I wanted to order another round. They limit how much you order at once (avoiding waste) and charge you for leftover uneaten food ($1 per piece). I did not have to wait long to order more, get sufficient items, and felt cared for. O'Yummy is a all you can eat sushi restaurant. I took my parents out for dinner and O'Yummy did not disappoint on the food quality. You are getting freshly rolled sushi when you order. Everything is made on the spot and nothing premade. The only complaints I had is that the chairs were uncomfortable, they are also connected so the person behind me was moving back and forth. My whole body was shaking like I was on a ship. My other complaints is that they are kinda slow on taking your order. It should not cost $150, plus a unilaterally imposed 20% gratuity, for four adults and a small child to eat sushi ~ especially when nobody ordered specialty items or drinks. The portions were obscenely small (e.g. tempura broccoli was one single sprout cut in half), and the soba wasn't even soba, but rather ramen. The service was friendly, at least, and reasonably quick. This is another location from my favorite sushi joint! I used to frequent the Kemp's River location when I lived in the Kempsville area, but I have moved out to Old Great Neck and this spot is a walking distance from my house. Hurray! O'Yummy not only offers sushi, but soups, fried rice & noodles, various kitchen dishes, salads, sake and other spirits, and more! Their dinner menu is even more expanded (dinner starts at 3!) O'Yummy hits all the marks for me. Delicious food, quick & friendly service, and inviting atmosphere. Not to mention the amazing all-you-can-order menu. Sooo many options (vegan, vegetarian, pescatarian, even keto, etc) and great for big appetites - you can get an amazing deal on a hefty feast. My personal favorite is their salmon... whether it be hand rolls, sashimi, or sushi, it's always fresh and buttery - I have yet to receive a piece of frozen fish. I can't say the same for some other places. A flavorful tip - I love to get a side of eel sauce and a side of spicy mayo. Most of the sushi rolls are delicious dipped in eel sauce or spicy mayo. This is a great restaurant for ayce sushi. The atmosphere is very decorated and the theme they were going for is evident. The staff is friendly and attentive, they didn't seem too busy but they did make an effort to frequent our table and take orders. The portions are sufficient as they only want to provide food that can be consumed without waste. Overall the food was fresh and tasty, they probably can go easier on the sauce. I hate to say I was put in an interesting predicament the other night here. Just to sum it up, was I being annoying for 2 minutes? yes for SURE. The food came out relatively fast. Some of our favorites to order were the spicy tuna roll, spicy salmon roll, kani salad, salmon sashimi, white tuna sashimi, chicken skewers, and much more. The rolls did have a good amount of rice so I would recommend ordering less rolls to not fill you up. The sashi was good quality for what you are paying for and there is no rice with it. We've been to this location multiple times and the sushi is always delicious, but service can be hit or miss. This is definitely our favorite AYCE sushi place. The sushi always tastes so fresh! We like to start with house and seaweed salads, pork gyoza, edamame and some sort of vegetable tempura. For rolls, I would HIGHLY recommend the Great Neck roll, it's our favorite! Other honorable mentions are the Volcano, Spicy Girl, Mexican and Mango Hawaii roll, to name a few. Everything usually comes out pretty quickly which is probably because the servers carry around tablets and are able to put in your order while at your table. Love! Service is a little chaotic depending on when you go-- sometimes you have one sever the whole time, other times you may be helped by a bunch of different servers. During our last visit, it was apparent that we were going to have multiple servers throughout our visit. Normally this is fine, but in this case it was honestly just annoying. There was no real organization to how they waited tables, and we had servers come up to us multiple times to ask if we were ready to order, even though we had already ordered with someone else. It was annoying! We kept having to tell them that someone has already taken our drink order, food order, etc. But then, once we got our second round of rolls, there was no server in sight! It took everything for us to flag someone down to get wasabi (our rolls came with none). Again, we love O Yummy but I wish the service was just a little bit more organized and consistent! This sushi place was absolutely delicious and the service was great. I liked how they put limits in place to eliminate food waste, so please keep that in mind if you go there. They make you pay extra if you waste food, which encourages you to finish your plate. They also gave me a little jade bracelet which added a nice touch to the experience. I typically get sashimi instead of rolls and loved my salmon, BBQ eel, and snapper sashimi. I was not the biggest fan of their tuna sashimi (not sure if it was the thick cut or just because it did not seem as fresh as the other sashimi served on my plate). For sides, my go-to orders will always be miso soup,the shrimp tempura and seaweed salad. I tried tuna & salmon tataki after hearing my mom rave about it- it was SO delicious, reminds me of poke; it's got ponzu sauce, tobiko, sesame seeds/oil mixed together with small cube cuts of raw tuna and salmon and a little bit of spice). Some rolls are meant to be this way. However, they put it on EVERYTHING. Pictured or not. I ended up having to wipe it off with my napkin. Filling to rice ratio was off. For instance, if they used 5 g of rice, they put in 1 g of tuna. The shrimp tempura was extremely heavy and the batter was flavorless. They need to step their game up...big time!
