**EXCELLENT WINES AND SIMPLE RUSTIC FRENCH CUISINE**…read more Wonderfully friendly staff. Welcomed immediately with a glass of red wine. Very small restaurant. No tourists; only locals and repeat French customers. We sat outside. ORDERED: *FOIE GRAS House made and simply DIVINE on freshly toasted baguette bread. I wanted to take a bath in this. OMG! *DUCK CONFIT Beautiful leg served with scalloped potatoes. The meat could have been a bit more tender, but overall a good solid entree. *FRUIT TART Good, but not great. The pastry could have baked a bit longer. Loved the sweet plums though. We also ordered a bottle of their excellent Cabernet France for 17 euros. My darling didn't care for their espresso and I was not impressed with their version of a cappuccino. Dinner altogether was 73 euros. OTHER NOTES ============= Some of their staff members are from Le Mascote restaurant, but since the restaurant is currently closed; they cooked and served here. Same quality of food; cheaper in price. HIGHLY RECOMMEND the wine, foie gras, and any seafood dish. They have great daily specials.

The menu consists of typical French fare with your duck confit and your steak tartar etc. The wine is sold by volume and all priced at the same rate. Bulk of the other clientele consists of local repeat customers, as we saw a lot of them greeting the bar tender affectionately. For lunch, we had the duck confit and the Lyon sausages (one of the day's specials). The waiter recommended a strong red wine to go with the duck and a lighter, younger chilled red to go with the sausages. He hit it spot on in terms of the pairing. Both main courses were simple and delicious. We ended our meal with wonderful house-made chocolate mousse. Having stumbled onto this little place on the last day of our week long trip in Paris, we were pleasantly surprised with our wonderful experience at Le Colibri. Simple and authentic, this is definitely our favourite place to eat in Paris.

The game was on late, and we rolled in right around midnight and stayed for an hour or so, until France prevailed 1-0. The bar was casual and welcoming, not terribly full on a busy night for bars. I gathered from the cheering that we were not among locals. The crowd was mostly English-speaking, all of us having fun but not very fervent. We met up with my brother and his fiancée, and we were able to post up at two adjacent high tables. They were lit by dim lamps made from empty liquor bottles--ours was Grey Goose. Bar service was fast and friendly. We only got one round and decided to give the cocktails a go. The Puffed Peach was a gin drink with Bombay Sapphire, Martini Vibrante, genmaicha and peach syrup, and citron. Il Negrocino No. 3 was made with Rum Brugal, fat wash Campari X Coco (not sure what this is), and Martini Rubino. Both solid and easy to drink. Earth'K isn't a destination bar, but it's a pleasant neighborhood spot where you can catch a cocktail and an important sporting event. We had a good time and were happy to watch France win.

Classy ambiance with delicious food!…read more We came here after wandering the Champs Elysees. We had a reservation, and were seated quickly in the open-air deck. We had a great view of the comings and goings of the Cours la Reine, and the Seine over the road. My salmon was a bit dry, but when eaten with the sauce and peas, was moisturized and flavored well. My lunch date's duck was delicious! Juicy and flavorful, it was a delicious bite. The bread served on the house is a bit dry, but flaky. The chips were salty and crunchy. Overall, I hope to return!

Le Mini Palais is in an idyllic location inside the Grand Palais, an exhibition hall and museum…read morecomplex. The restaurant has a gorgeous main dining room and terrace, but unfortunately they stuck us in the reject room (I didn't bother to take a picture), a small annex dining room off the main large space. It had nice views of the terrace, and at least we had a table by the window, but I regretfully wish I had spoken up at the time and asked to be seated elsewhere with better ambiance. We were served bread and popovers, a fun and unique alternative to the standard bread offering. They were crusty on the outside, pillowy soft on the inside, and had a nice buttery and eggy flavor. The food was delicious but quite rich in general. Mom and I went halfsies on two dishes. The first was the parmentier, a dish of duck confit topped with potato purée. It was luscious and flavorful, but probably contained an epic amount of butter. It was quite greasy and the potatoes were absolutely butter laden. Imagine rich duck confit topped with the absolutely heaviest and richest potato purée in the world, and that is this dish. Rich but good. It was impossible to finish because of the richness, even though we swapped our plates halfway through eating so we could sample both of our selections. We also tried the Scottish salmon with green lentils and bacon. The fish was cooked perfectly and the lentils were super flavorful. This was also a tad decadent due to the bacon-laced stewed lentils beneath the fish. I'm glad we opted for only main courses and not appetizers and/or desserts. Because this place is so posh compared to some of the other restaurants we visited on our trip, I feel like the service was also less warm in comparison to other experiences. Some of the staff was actually a bit rude to us when after our meal we wanted to go onto the terrace to take a look at the view. A server actually said we should have just asked to be seated there, like it was our fault. Very strange and awkward. Based on my personal experience, Le Mini Palais was overrated and the service was lacking. Even though the food was generally good, just heavy, I wouldn't come back here for a future meal, nor would I recommend it. There are far better restaurants in Paris with much better food and service!

The bartender waved us in towards the back and set up our table quickly. He told us about the happy hour specials, and gave us a few minutes. I was expecting a smaller plate, but I'm not complaining. The location is very convenient to Gare du Est, which was also close to our hotel. Seems like a good place for dinner or just drinks.

For an appetizer I got the burrata di buffala which is basically tomato and greens with this MASSIVE piece of burrata cheese. It was delicious, light, and fresh! I love burrata cheese and this is some of the best I've ever had. It's the star of this plate. My friend also had the duck pâté with foie gras which was good, but not as enjoyable as the burrata. I was very impressed with the duck breast for the entree. The potatoes were also delicious. Everything was cooked to perfection here and well worth the price.
