What is it about pens? People collect them like personality flaws. You already have more than…read moreenough, but you just can't stop collecting more. Pens. And what is it about a good pen? One from which rich color flows smoothly, scratching gently, soothingly against paper. We get disproportionately attached to pens in a way that we don't with most other objects. When you find a good pen, it's such a score. And we all know it's impossible to have too many good pens. We greedily hoard the good ones, especially delighting in good pens we find or steal, knowing that, when the victim realizes his loss, his day will be ruined. We will have ruined that person's day! And we feel triumphant! It's sick. Pens make people go insane. Fortunately, it's not the most detrimental of mental illnesses, and I will openly admit to suffering from it. I blame it on the fact that I am left handed and need just the right pens or else my writing gets smeared all over the place. This is true, but it's really just an excuse to keep collecting, keep hoarding. I will never stop.

The lady on the phone was very friendly, efficient, and offered to mail me the pattern. (In comparison, if you called Hickey's in town, you'd wait on the phone for atleast ten minutes, then they'd charge you quite a bit for postage, etc.) Anyway, I received the pattern along with the receipt as well as a thank you note for shopping with them. The current director of RCS is Judith, a lovely lady who was very welcoming to all six of us in the class. The instructor was Sarah, a superb teacher. We were talked through choosing and reading a pattern, cutting and marking cloth and using a sewing machine. I really enjoyed it, Sarah gave me great confidence to have a lash at it myself.

Q gets a patient smile and told that the studios are currently celebrating their 25th anniversary in business. Boy do I feel silly. The walls are adorned with the studios work, mostly portraits from what I can see and jolly nice ones - I suspect they could even make my own family look like well adjusted members of society. How much of a perfectionist is the guy I met? He asked that they be allowed submit their own photo of the premises instead of me taking my usual quick snap... because they are photographers and it should look right. How the heck did he know about my singular talent for including random cars and sometimes busses in my review pics? I guess I just don't look like a pro!

Book Station is another one of these but don't think I am against them at all. You can find the odd wee treasure if you go and rummage often enough.. I found an American 1st addition of Terry Pratchets Good Omens in such a shop a little while ago for less than 10 Euro. A heck of a find in anyone's book! They also stock the usual gift papers, bags, ribbons and paraphernalia, all for a lot less than you'll pay in other stationers.

The interior is that of a place that takes flowers seriously, with trellised walls, flowers and leafy plants abounding, and that palpable, lush smell of freshly cut plant matter. They cater for all events demanding flowers, like weddings, and some that I wasn't previously aware of that demand flowers, like office and corporate events. Apparently nothing says 'Good job closing that O' Keefe account, Jones ' like a dozen red roses and if that gets you fired in some sort of inappropriate conduct debacle, I hear nothing says 'hire me' like a hand-tied country garden bouquet.
