The perfect salon experience! I have been a client of Guillaume's for 5 years and refuse to have my hair done at any other place. I chose O salon in the fall of '03 when I was a college student at Georgetown. I had just finished fall midterms and was majorly stressed out. Before Guillaume I had only had my hair done by one stylist since I was in second grade in my hometown. I was scared to try anyone new but knew my hair was in bad shape and needed some help. I had read a review about O Salon in Allure magazine and felt confident that they would be a great place to try. I called and asked for an appointment the next day and as luck would have it a client had just called and cancelled their appointment with Guillaume. I took the appointment and met Guillaume the next day. When he met me I had long straight hair and did not color it. Since then my hair is still long but with layers and I highlight my hair. Each time I go to an appointment I sit down and give Guillaume full reign over what to do and he has never steered me wrong. I would trust him completely with any hair length, color, cut, etc. Also, I have also had a few fabulous updos done by him as well. I have recieved numerous compliments on my hair and have now referred 3 friends to Guillaume. An added plus is the totally relaxing head massage that you recieve when you get your hair washed. I perfect way to to tune out and destress for a few minutes. I honestly don't have a bad thing to say about O Salon and highly recommend it to anyone that is looking for a salon to try. read more

Dimitri Ferrer is a highlight genius. I have long, *thick* "dirty blonde" (read: brown) hair, and Dimitri does the entire head, putting in more foil than anyone I've ever gone to (in less time). He makes it look SO NATURAL; people are always so surprised when I tell them I dye my hair. Before finding Dimitri, my hair always used to be DARK underneath. (I get that there's a level of darkness with natural hair, but not to the point where it feels like bats are going to fly out when you lift the blonde top layers.) He fixed this the very first time I went to see him and made me look like I was actually a natural blonde, and I haven't looked back since. I also get a basic, no-frills haircut with long layers, and he does it in literally 5 min. He doesn't push products down your throat, but is willing to give recommendations if you ask. He'll also tell you like it is if you want something that is going to look bad. He's an early bird, and is willing to book 7AM appointments, which is hugely convenient for me. Also, I'm not always in the chatty mood, and I appreciate that he'll just let me read a magazine, respond to emails, or stare at myself in the mirror if I want to. Finally, the salon itself is super cute; it's in a cozy yet modern converted row house. read more

I am new to the area and have searched and researched dozens of salons to attempt to find a stylist and colorist. I have stopped people on the street if their hair was absolutely horrible or great to determine who to mark on or off my list. This process has now required 7 months! I am very particular about my hair! Finally, my research led me to Soner at O Salon in Georgetown. I arrived early and was shaking. Who knows how long you will live? Growing out a bad cut or highlight can seem like it takes the rest of your life. Been there, done that and have no desire to do it again! I met Soner and he greeted me warmly as had the receptionist. He asked many questions and carefully examined my hair. Once we were in agreement, he began highlighting. WOW! I have never seen so many pieces of foil. Once the color was absolutely perfect, Destiny shampooed and was really wonderful! He passed the next test with flying colors - he didn't begin cutting until he knew I was very comfortable with what he was going to do. Just one inch! No more! He had what few stylists and colorists have and that is a healthy respect for the fact that my hair belonged to me! I have found my new "Hair Home!" Will I return? Yes; I already have my next two appointments! read more

Let me tell you about my visit at O Salon!! I was booked on 6/25/16 -Booking with Lori was a breezeeeee. She was very informative, paid attention to every detail I explained to her and placed me with the perfect stylist to my liking. She offered the next available appointment of Tuesday the 28th and I took it. I arrived on 6/28/16 -As soon as arrived Lori greeted me with all smiles and also made a remark from our conversation (shows she was listening) that made me smile. The salon is very bright, not too busy, very nice staff. She brought me to the back to what she called "the coloring area" to change into a robe to protect my clothing. Once changed I was offered something to drink and morning's newest magazine by Lori as she ushered me to the chair where I would have my highlights applied. WOW, great service. Soner, my stylist. Took great care of me from the moment I was in his chair to the moment I was out. Perfect coloring perfect haircut. I love it. I will definitely return back to O Salon. Quick and efficient booking, pleasant check-in, heaven sent shampooing, and of course PERFECT hair by Soner. Thank you all at O Salon for making my first experince a great one. read more

I love, love, love O Salon. After having a ton of bad experiences I finally decided to just try somewhere near my apartment so that it would be easy to get home after work and getting my hair cut. The Salon itself is a really short walk from M Street, which is convenient for people in the Georgetown/Foggy Bottom area. Inside it's a really bright, warm, friendly environment, and it doesn't try too hard to be "too trendy" which just comes off as uncomfortable. Once you get in you are immediately given coffee/infused water/tea, and made sure you are well taken care of while you wait (if you even have to wait at all). When I called the girl who answers the phone knew exactly who I should make an appointment with given how I described my hair. Luckily, I was told Claudia is great with blonde hair and highlights so I booked with her and she was amazing! Normally my hair takes about 3-4 hours to highlight, color, deep treat, cut, blow dry but she did it in lightning speed and it looked phenomenal and felt amazing. If you want an amazing experience go to O Salon and pick Claudia! read more

Guillame has cut my hair twice. Both times, I told him to do whatever he felt would look good, provided that it be low-maintenance--and he did not disappoint. I have short, curly hair, and I've had three other people cut my hair since I decided to go short with it. Those other three people made it look nice for a time, but it did not work well when it started to grow out, even when it got just a little bit longer. The style Guillame gave me is low-maintenance but still feminine, and I won't have to worry about getting an afro if I don't get back to the salon for a while. I should also say that, while I let him do what he feels like with my hair, I have two other friends who get their hair cut by him who are very particular about how they style it, and Guillame always does it exactly as they ask. These are two women who are very particular about their hair, so the fact that they trust him to do it is really saying something! Go to O Salon if you're looking for great people, a soothing atmosphere, and, most importantly, a killer haircut! read more

I was introduced to Dimitri three years ago by my fiance, who has been getting his hair cut by him for over a decade. At the time, I was a recovering tomboy who was extremely apprehensive towards the idea of paying exorbitant amounts of money for a haircut, but after just one visit with Dimitri and the incredibly professional staff at O Salon, I was hooked. (Oh, the shampoo sessions are to die for! I always look forward to them!) Later, after a year of constant coaxing, Dimitri finally convinced me to add a bit of color to my brunette locks. Since I knew that he is one of the highest rated colorists in the country, I thought I'd place my hair's welfare into his capable hands. I was not disappointed. My hair has looked fabulous ever since my first appointment and continues to look great thanks to Dimitri. I constantly get compliments and I have referred numerous people to O Salon. (In fact, both my mom and sister have become faithful clients of his!) If you want the best and are willing to pay for it, you can't go wrong with O. read more

I got the very worst and most unpleasant haircut of my entire life by Victoria here. She started out when meeting me by telling me I really needed to book a highlight because my roots were "seriously overdue." (I hadn't booked a highlight because I wanted to see if I liked her first before trusting her with my color!) I should have turned around and walked out there. She yelled at the shampooer for not having the right products at her station and said "I'm just here to cut and color, not get stuff." It got worse when she tried to comb through my hair after it was washed- instead of doing it from the bottom, she worked from the top down with a brush, the worst thing for somebody with long hair, muttering how damaged it was. Then, when she began cutting, she did so in literally 10 minutes, while her next client was waiting in the chair next to me tapping her foot. I now have a three tiered haircut which I have to go and have fixed because it is so uneven and am $100 poorer. She was one of the rudest people I have met in my whole life. read more

I've been seeing Soner for years, both here and at his former location at Okyo. He is simply the best!!! Since I was 16 years old and spent two days crying because the hair stylist I went to butchered my long hair, I have dreaded getting my hair done. But Soner is the absolute rare person who always get my hair done perfectly right (I will now knock on wood not to jinx this!!). He does my hair the way I want, not the way he thinks it should be (which I previously found to be the case for many stylists in DC). When I leave there, I never wash my hair for several days because I like it so much! Fortunately, even when I finally wash it, I'm still very happy! Everyone at the salon is extremely friendly, and on weekends you can actually find free street parking nearby. In my opinion, this is by far the best place to get one's hair done in the DC area (and before I started seeing Soner, I tried out A LOT of them!!).And by the way, he is awesome at doing perms, which he's done for me many times! read more

O Salon is a highly professional, pampering, and friendly salon. I have been going to my stylist Victoria for over 5 years. She has been at O Salon for about a year now, and I am very happy. I am always quickly acknowledged, and shown to a chair. Once seated I am always offered a hot or cold beverage. After Victoria and I have our consultation, I am lead to the shampooing station where I get a 10 minute scalp massage. I have always had excellent service from the salon staff. Victoria is AMAZING. She is always giving me awesome highlights that are fresh and seasonal, but still appropriate for my style. The color lasts months! I get compliments on my hair 2 months after I have gotten it done. The hair cut is stylish and easy to manage, and again I always get compliments on it months after it has been cut. I would recommend Victoria to anyone, men and women. She is a very good listener, master stylist, and all around makes you feel your very best! Worth every penny! read more

I've never been inclined to write a yelp review until my most recent experience at O Salon. I've been a client of Guillaume's for about two years now and I've never turned to anyone else since the first time he cut my hair. This time, however, I went for something different: full highlights. Being a male, I was hesitant to try this. I had gotten highlights numerous times years ago and always ended up with semi-chunky/unnatural looking results (even at higher priced salons). I could not be more pleased with the outcome of the coloring. I keep examining every layer of my hair, promising myself that I'll be able to find at least one obvious highlight, but they are blended in so well and naturally that I've failed to find any glaring evidence that my hair color is unnatural. Bravo, Guillaume. I would definitely recommend becoming a regular to O Salon. The charming location and minimalist decor make the atmosphere relaxing and intimate. A+ read more

I love this salon. I have been going to O salon, for a few years now and I have never ever experienced anything but the best service. The staff is always extremely polite, and courteous. I have referred numerous people and they have always been very pleased with their hair cut/color/style. My hair stylist, Aykut is a miracle worker with all aspects of hair care. He always does a fabulous job regardless of the service I have booked for that visit. He is professional, courteous, and will always give you good honest advice about your hair. I have very very curly thick hair, and every time I leave the salon, which is once a week I leave with hair so straight you would think it was naturally that way. Recently my sister got her hair done by Victoria and she was also extremely pleased. I would recommend this salon to anyone who wants excellent service and reasonable prices. read more

Guillaume, one of the owners of O Salon, has been coloring and cutting my hair for over 12 years. I've lived in NYC, Chicago, Seattle, Orlando and Europe and he's the best. My first visit to him was to repair a color another salon in DC had given me. I had asked for strawberry blonde, as I am a blonde, and was given eggplant red. He has taken me from shoulder length hair, which I loved to very short hair, which I also love. He makes the cut and color, fit my face! Once when sitting in the chair by the window, someone came in the shop just to comment on the great haircut they viewed being done through the window. My entire family has been coming to Guillaume for a few years now. Our son who lives in Boston has not found anyone who can cut curly hair like Guillaume. O Salon is worth every cent and the staff is wonderful!! read more

I am truly shocked to read anything negative about this incredible salon. I have been going to this salon and one of the owners, Guillaume, for years. I was referred to the salon by a friend in the area after trying for years to find a good colorist. Guillaumes highlights and cuts are the best I've ever had anywhere! I don't even live in the area but I plan my trips to DC around my hair appointments. I brought my 18 year old daughter with me last month and Victoria cut her hair...it looks gorgeous. The receptionists have always been pleasant and I've never had to wait more than a few minutes for any service. I also really enjoy the beautiful and spa-like environment. I have referred so many friends to the salon who have all thanked me. Book an appointment and see for yourself! read more

I had just gotten my hair colored (at a different salon) a few days earlier and was unhappy with it, and stopped in to O Salon on a Saturday afternoon on a whim. Lis was kind enough to take me right away and listened to why I was unhappy with my hair and exactly what I wanted for the new color. She somehow took my terribly vague description of "reddish-purplish-burgundy-brown" and came up with an awesome color, despite having to deal with the crappy coloring already on my hair. I left with soft, shiny hair and the color has lasted perfectly for about a month now! The salon as a whole was nice, very clean, comfortable, etc. I actually can't wait for this (semi-permanent) dye to wash out in a few more weeks so I can go back!! read more

I have been going to Dmitri for over five years now (since I first moved to DC from New York) for relaxer treatments and never even been tempted to go elsewhere... My hair has gotten healthier, fuller and shinier with each passing year. I attribute that to using the best quality products and technique for Latina women with naturally curly hair who get their roots relaxed, hands down! Yes, it's pricier than your hole-in-the-wall place in Adams Morgan, but I could see a dramatic difference after only a few treatments. I gladly choose quality over price when it comes to my hair, and Dmitri consistently does a fantastic job and is always super professional and reliable. I wouldn't trust any other stylist in this city! read more

I've been getting my hair cut here for nearly two years and have had nothing but great experiences. I see Guillaume for cut/colour, but I'm sure everyone else there is also great. As other people mentioned, this is the place to go for natural looking, classy colour and cuts. But I defintely I don't mean "just a trim", Guillaume talked me into taking my hair short(er) for the first time in my life and I love it. Although my cut has always been great the colour is definitely the outstanding part of the experience. Its also a great salon experience: yummy tea, coffee, great front desk (she gave me an umbrella when it was raining!), and the dynamics between employees is always friendly and pleasant. read more

After a not-so-great haircut last year at Aveda, I was wary about trusting a stylist I didn't know. My friend recommended Claudia, who is a "level two" stylist ($65 instead of $90+!! Yay!!) but is, in my opinion, just as good as any stylist out there, if not better. The salon is very friendly and open, and I felt taken care of. She sat me down with dry hair to talk about what I wanted and she gave me her opinion (trust her, she knows what she's talking about) and after I had gotten washed and cut she waited until my hair was dry to cut my bangs (so I could see the exact length) and add the finishing touches. Very professional and friendly, I'd definitely recommend this place. read more

I've been a client of Guillaume's for over 10 years. He's a master of color and highlights and have always been thrilled with my hair and the welcoming O Salon environment. My visit there today just reaffirms the Salon's focus on customer care, health and service. In light of Coronavirus, they have gone well above and beyond any recommended protocols. I was messaged to check in, my temperature was taken, and given sanitizer. All while masked. Chairs are distanced and plexiglass walls separate any necessary space. Staff are also making sure to clean after each client. All of that said, my appointment felt warm and welcoming as always. And my hair, of course is beautiful. read more
