We got there and did a tour around 11. We were pleasantly surprised with the room and areas they had. We felt it was clean for the number dogs and locations they had. It appeared organized with knowledge of dogs and temperaments and who goes where. I did express several times, I was fine with Stanley being left in a kennel by himself. We were only going to be gone for a few hours and was concerned with just the 2 staff folks there and all the areas for dogs to play. It does seem they have regulars so know the dogs well and who would play well, with whom. I appreciate the ability to text. I checked in about an hour after we left, all was well. I received a text a couple of hours with a short video of him smelling an area with another dog. I was a bit concerned they took him out with another dog but thankfully, he was fine in video and when I picked him up. I am definitely a helicopter mom and worry but I would have hoped my wishes were honored, of him being alone. I was able to enjoy by time zip lining while my boy was watched. I did not find it dirty, I felt for a huge kennel, it was fine for me. Kennels are going to smell and get dirty & maybe there could be more staff but I would recommend them. The only suggestion, if you are adamant about something-get their commitment they can deliver. Again, Stan was fine and it is my own issues to some degree but had something happened, we know the review would have been different.

I received a call from my…read moreneighbor while I was out of town letting me know that my animals had not been fed that morning and that although I had paid in advance for overnight stays nobody had been at my house the night before. The neighbors went out to check on my dogs who were out at midnight barking, the horses still had their fly masks on and NO pet sitter was at the house. I had pre-shredded hay for an older horse and put it in containers. My neighbors checked on the animals and let me know there were at least two meals that hadn't been fed. Katie had several excuses as to why it wasn't done, including the excuse that some wolf hybrids had gotten loose at another pet sit. I can understand needing to leave to find the missing animals but I don't understand why my animals were neglected in the process and NO phone call was made to me. I made it very clear that I could be reached at any time and that my neighbors were available for back up. Thankfully my neighbors were looking out for my animals and not only notified me but took care of my hungry neglected pets themselves. Emergencies can be excused but the lies and deception by someone I hired and trusted to take care of my pets are inexcusable! If you want to have peace of mind while you are out of town, do not hire these people! How convenient to be required to pay in FULL in advance and then not perform the promised service.

However, my fears were soon set aside as Linda took my dog while I removed my board from my car and began putting on my wetsuit. Without me saying a word, she suggested walking my dog within eyeshot. Little by little, I started feeling more confident and was able to relax. Her suggestion of remaining close helped my dog to feel less worried as well as the yummy treats she fed her. What I found most remarkable about Linda was her flexibility. Like an expert surfer, she navigated the situation with ease, rootling through her trunk for a towel when I forgot one, finding water for my dog when she got thirsty, and safeguarding my car keys when I was in the water. All this while a wildfire was causing evacuations within a county of her house! Vacationing as a single person with a Border Collie is not without its challenges; thanks to Linda, I was in a better position to meet those challenges and have fun.

Being that I was so new to the area, I didn't have any friends on the central coast that I knew or trusted well enough yet to come and check on my elderly cat and feed her. I did a little research and found Shelly. She was wonderful! She came over and did a consult with me about my cat and what was needed before I left. I was nervous about putting someone I had just met in charge of my kitty and giving a key to my house, but by the time she left I felt like my sweet fur baby was in good hands. And I was right! Shelly went above and beyond and took out the trash with the litter scoopings and brought in my mail which were things that I did not ask her to do. Plus she sent me daily reports, which really helped give me peach of mind. You know when you worry that the worst case scenario is going to happen you go out of town and your pet will get sick or (worst case scenraio) die? I know it's silly, but it's easy to worry about that and we've all heard those occasional terrible stories. Well Shelly's daily reports really put me at ease. I told myself everything is going to be okay and I don't need to be coddled, but it turns out that having the daily report really helps me! So I love that about her services. I had such a great experience with her that I used her the next time I needed to leave town, even though by then I had made friends with a neighbor I could have asked, but with Shelly I knew that my cat would be well taken care of and I could rest easy while out of town. He was dog aggressive and very hard to handle on walks if dogs were present. Being very stubborn, he needed a full four weeks of camp, but came out as a very pleasant companion, obedient and easy to walk. The people at DDG are fantastic, very personable and great dog trainers. They kept in touch weekly, sending pictures, discussing the tasks accomplished and the problems to be worked out.
