This restaurant is definitely off the beaten path for the average Lisbon tourists, but we heard from some friends that this place has duck rice, a dish we like but didn't get to find at the restaurants we visited, so we decided to trek over there.
We were disappointed to learn that the duck rice was not available on the day of our visit. However, looking at the menu we found many items that are decidedly traditional, yet beyond the average bacalhau dishes found in other restaurants. I did end up ordering codfish - but with a twist - a tongue twist you may say, it's a codfish tongue stew rice. It's very rich, and the tongue has an interesting texture: chewier than meat but also glutinous. My hubby though found the dish too fishy, even though cilantro was used generously to cut out fishiness.
The other dish we ordered was grilled kid goat. We were disappointed with it though. You can tell from the bones that the goat is pass its babyhood. Also the dish came out with chucks of assorted size and shape scattered on a plate - in a manner that speaks more of carelessness than homeliness.
We also had Iberian ham as appetizer, which of course, never disappoints.
Despite its off-the-beaten-path location, the price is not cheap at all, and we weren't impressed by the dishes - flavor-wise or presentation-wise, so it was a bit of a disappointment. read more
