I was on a mission to spoil myself this past weekend, and this was the perfect treat on a hot Sunday afternoon. There must have been some kind of promotion cuz prices online were slightly lower than the price menu on site, but they did charge a $3 fee for credit card payment. I reserved an hour-long body massage, and requested Holly when booking on the website. It was confirmed, but when I came in, they told me only Bebe was available... So why are you asking me what I want if there is only one choice?!? I came here with the understanding that I could select my masseuse, in fact it's required that you select a massage therapist when booking online... very misleading. The massage room was simple and inviting, with perfect temperature for comfort, and soothing music in the background. Bebe came in about 10 minutes late, but she was very sweet and actually did a good job, found and worked on my knots right away, even used her knees and feet to effectively massage my back (there are bars on the ceiling for the masseuse to do some back walking). I asked for harder pressure, and she delivered, most effective on my back, neck, and shoulders, not so much on my limbs. The sauna and steam room were also available which I opted not to use. I came here with my girls for the first time to get a massage and my appointment was at 1 and i waited 5 more mins for my sister to arrive and tell me why as im waiting they were already asking me for my payment mind you i was in the waiting room like what?!? One of the best spa that I've experienced in the bay! The steam and sauna rooms are so relaxing, literally feels like I'm in mediating. Love how you add steam by adding water to the hot rocks. They probably you with a nice robe, towels and sandals. A locker to put all your belongings with a key. And the showers with the rainfall head is amazing! definitely need this in my own bathroom! We paid 183$ for 3 people with 30 min massage. We had access to the steamer and sauna and we used both. They also have the shower available to use if you want to wash off. I freaking love it here. Was a fan and started going here 1-2 years before Covid. Bought a gift certificate for a prepaid package deal of 10. (I've never done this before anywhere.) I had used up half of my passes and came by for one session but forget the pass (a small card that they hole punch) and they refused to see me. I knew the front desk guy, talked to the owner on the phone and still no service. Really? You don't write down who purchases packages? Their answer: Nope. When I heard that O Para S had an body scrub and place on this side of town I booked an appointment. The staff are friendly and accommodating, sans dilly dally. Ok, great. Covid safety, temp check, check in with some personal info like address. Just to make sure everything is square and dandy. The rooms are private and numbered and the beds are clean and comfortable, sheets and towels are changed per person, per appointment. Clean. Staff are friendly and patient. No rush and austere body movements or stiff words or rush responses. I can't stand that kind of spa enviro. Or any place of relaxation and calm, or shout talking of any kind. Not here. Light dimmer and darker red dressed rooms are what set the tone. Client is asked to be nude, remove clothes and lie under a sheet while the masseuse comes in for scrub. Nothing out of the ordinary. As for the scrub and strategy for me was softer and short strokes over my limbs and torso both front body and back body. The scrub which I think had some kinda peppermint aspect was very relaxing to my muscles and skin. Yes they cover the groin area for men when on back. Again appropriate and comfortable for the client. The fan happen to be on and the lady asked if I was ok. Yes it added to the lotion soothing on my skin, added to the experience. After the scrub the client is taken to a shower to clean up. Water provided, towels provided, soap, shampoo and conditioner provided. Sandals too. Overall the experience was satisfactory. I rarely write these type of reviews, but I need to share that my experience at this "spa" was incredibly disappointing. I read the reviews and thought it was worth a visit, but boy did Yelp fail me this time. I called around 6:00pm for a 6:30pm but was told I couldn't be seen until 7:00pm. Cool. No big deal. Upon arrival, the gal that checked in guests seem aggravated and frustrated which I can understand (I think) -- one person holding down the fort at a client oriented establishment can cause anyone to get overwhelmed. She was trying to lecture or maybe it was nag another client for being late which I thought was odd. She didn't even inquire with me which massage service I wanted, and asked me for $50 which was the standard 60 minute massage. I paid her and she took me back to room #2 which looked like a facial room rather than a "spa-like-massage" room. Here are my reasons for such a low rating: * my appointment was at 7:00pm. My massage therapist knocks on my door at around 7:10pm and asks me to give her another 5 minutes. I wasn't seen until 7:15pm. * the massage felt more like an awkward back rub than a spa treatment massage. It was barely relaxing. * the walls are paper thin! I could hear cell phones vibrating through the walls to the left of me, and chitter chatter through the walls to the right of me. The music didn't mask any noise at all. Oh, and you can hear every single door slamming outside. * the room was not set up for a massage. There was facial and microdermabrasion equipment set up, and other tools that I'm not familiar with. They probably could've been more thoughtful about putting clients who schedule massages in actual massage rooms. I still tipped because my masseuse is trying to make a living, but I seriously would not recommend this spot to my fellow Yelpers. Maybe it's a hit or miss -- I don't know, but my visit today was certainly a miss. I'm probably being generous with my star rating, but I did appreciate the efforts in decor. There were Buddha statues and artificial plants placed around the space. I really don't like leaving negative reviews, in genera but especially for small businesses, but after my horrible experience and the manager's unwillingness to do anything about it, I think it's necessary. The first time I went to O'Paradise, I had a great experience, so I was excited to go back; but when I did, it wasn't just the WORST massage I've ever paid for, but an awkward and uncomfortable experience in general. My masseuse was noticeably not feeling well, sniffling and burping throughout the entire 90 minutes, and after the first two or three minutes, I wouldn't even call it a massage anymore. She was mostly just rubbing me with one hand for most of the time, left the room partway through probably to blow her nose or something, and seemed generally distracted, doing something to one side of my body, but not the other, leaving my leg uncovered and cold, and ignoring me when I asked her to apply more pressure. At one point, she started to attempt massaging me with her knees (I love that part) but immediately gave up. What's worse is that a few days later, I got sick myself, and my masseuse is the only person I came in contact with who had any signs of being sick. When I reached out to the manager saying that at the very least, my experience was unsatisfactory for paying over $100, the manager seemed to not take it seriously AT ALL, denying that they let sick employees work, blaming my bad experience on "different massage styles," and only offering compensation in the form of cheap certificates for services I never expressed any interest in and would never use. When I asked if there was any way I could have credit towards a future massage instead (I told her I wasn't expecting a full refund), she insisted there's nothing she could do and then stopped replying to my emails entirely. Disappointed is an understatement -- I even told the manager multiple times that if we could work out some compromise, I'd probably be a repeat customer in the future, and generally tried to be as reasonable as possible. This place seems to be legit based on the reviews. I called in advance to schedule an appointment just case they're busy. Upon arrival the first thing I noticed is the sign saying they will charge an additional 3% fee for card transactions. Asian establishment trying to evade tax, not at all surprising. I paid $75 cash for the hour and the reception lead me to the room. In the room, I was greeted by Mai. She did a really good job focusing on all areas front and back. I am not a massage expert but it seems like she does know what she is doing. Mai also walked on my walk while holding on the curtain-pole looking thing on the ceiling. It was utterly amazing. They were so nice and welcoming! The massage was just what I needed. My body was sore from working out and the best sauna was amazing! STAY AWAY!! This review is for Kim. She was lazy, unhygienic, and rude. I came in with a back muscle knot and sore legs which I informed her to focus on. I left with EVEN WORSE BACK PAIN, NO IMPROVEMENTS on my legs, and SCRATCHES all over my body because HER NAILS WERE UNTRIMMED and was CONSTANTLY SCRATCHING ME. She was also constantly sniffling over me which made me feel uncomfortable, considering she wasn't wearing a face mask. During the massage, I noticed her stopping to hear her clicking things off her nails. She was either picking/wiping her nose or cleaning dirt off her nails!! The lack of hygiene also backed the laziness of this lady. There was an instance where she completely stopped massaging me and started gently rubbing my skin with one arm while looking away. When she got to my sore calves, she didn't even fully massage the whole calf, but instead more-or-less rubbed half of it until I asked her to apply more pressure. She responded by aggressively, and unsafely, attacking it until I told her not to go that hard. She went back to her lazy rubbing. She was also constantly yawning which proved to me she wasn't in a fully-awake state to be giving clients back massages which can be dangerous if done incorrectly. She also demanded me to tip her before I left. I told her I wasn't going to tip because her service was unprofessional and careless. She gave me an attitude before dismissing me with a dirty look. My husband booked a one hour massage and one hour scrub for my birthday, overall a meh experience. I was taken into the locker room and given a locker . The front desk lady said there's slippers , robe and towels in the locker and left . I had a hard time figuring out how the robe went on me . Then I was assisted into the massage room- and waited a good 10 minutes for the therapist to arrive. Mind you all this time was accounted Into the two hours. The massage was more a relaxing stroking type massage- not a deep tissue therapeutic one. Then the scrub was a bit uncomfortable. In the end the therapist asked is she could massage my breasts which was awkward and after refusing then she helped put the robe on me and slapped my butt mocking my fat again inappropriate . Then went on to say that people usually tip her 20$ per hour so I should tip her 40$ for two hours . Love that you can book online but that is the only compliment I have. Massage felt like a weird back rub with elbows and the woman going from sitting on the table with me to straddling me. She repeatedly pulled my full coverage underwear (which I wear as a guide to not touch) down or up exposing a lot more than I felt comfortable with. The sheets/blankets were very cold throughout massage and when laying on my back she only left the thin sheet which left me freezing and exposed. Cons: Massage therapist did not know proper towel etiquette. Exposed me full on and I was quite surprised that I wasn't wearing anything on my upper half while on my back as a woman. She was on the table with me and that was also a shock. Also, the steam room was Co-Ed, at first which didn't bother me as I covered up. But a male guest decided that was the time to outright sexually harass me, not sure what was done about the situation, but I was left feeling extremely objectified. He was asking questions such as: why isn't this nude? Can I see ALL of your tattoos? When can I see you again? And I had to hide out in the women's locker room until he left the hallway area. I asked if there could be a focus on my left shoulder before the massage started. The front desk lady said yes and told me to tell the masseuse. The massage ended at exactly 5:17. Lastly, the masseuse came in just as I was finished changing and asked me if I was going to tip her. I said yes and she asked me how much. I told her $10.00 and she said I should give her $20.00. I felt embarrassed so I ended up giving $15.00 and left.
