Continue to call and whoever answers the phones wouldn't give any details or stating that Richard would call us back and never did. Continued to call and finally someone different answers, this is in November, and tells us our carpet was never even ordered! She calls us back the next day and says they just placed the order and it would be delivered in a few weeks. Not happy at this point, but ok delays happen. Still no word from Richard about the install. I finally email explaining that this is unprofessional and that this needs to be done by the 15th so we can come up for Christmas. Spoke with Richard on Friday December 17th and advised that it was finished. I show up today, Dec 19th, and it's not finished. Different carpet installed in one bedroom, carpet not tacked down or even cut in some places, furniture in wrong place, doors not installed, random baseboards not installed, etc. I called Richard today and he said oh yeah I didn't order enough so that was what we did and ordered more carpet that will be here in a few weeks. 6 months later and I'm still dealing with this and it is a total nightmare.

After doing a lot of what I…read morethought was due diligence, I paid a 50% deposit in May of 2023 for a new 2-sided gas insert as well as a complete remodel of the stone work and mantel, with the understanding that work would begin in September or October prior to the beginning of the winter season. They began the demo work in October as promised, but it was then that I was also told about "supply chain issues" with the actual insert, and I was given a nebulous evasive timeframe for when it would arrive. By January, I was told by Alex that the insert was finally being shipped and that it would arrive in 3-4 weeks. When that date came and went, it then became increasingly difficult to get anyone to return a phone call or answer an email. When a reply would come, I was informed that I was still a priority for finishing the project, especially given how long I had been waiting. But there was never a straight answer about when the insert was coming, or even whether it had been fabricated. Then came the stories about a flood, an injured worker, etc etc, as reasons for why the project was further delayed. When I was finally able to track down the contact info for the insert manufacturer, I was told that Alpine was no longer a dealer for them, they had no record of my insert being ordered, and that not only were there no "supply chain issues" since 2021, but they had my particular model of insert in-stock and if it were ordered it would only take 2 weeks to ship. When I began this journey, I had a working fireplace. Now, I have a large hole in my living room that leaks when it rains and which vents air in and out of my home through the chimney when the wind blows. I then read the article in the June 29th issue of "The Sheet" which reported on how many other people have been victimized by their fraud. I have now contacted the DAs office and filed complaints with the BBB and Contractor's board. (By the way, the contractor's license that is listed on their website is old, from the previous owners. You should check for yourself the status of their license on the contractor's board website.) My money has sadly gone "poof." Don't make the same mistake I did... run away from Alpine Stove and Alex Solorio and find someone else to do your fireplace instead.

Apparently demand outpaces supply in this area, and it really shows. Jake at Baldwin was the first person to get back to me. He took a lot of time to truly understand the project, and I never felt rushed even though I'm sure everyone at Baldwin was quite busy. By the time even our first call was over, I had a far great understanding of what was needed in terms of the technical requirements of the hardware (heater models, wiring, etc), the installation itself, and the overall process (estimate, install, inspection, etc.). As a result, I was much more confident about the next steps and we followed up from there. Jake's response showed an impressive level of professionalism. I greatly appreciated hist effort to understand and communicate with me about the project. It speaks very highly of Baldwin as a company.

Jonathan's crew meticulously sanded each door, and then over the course of a couple days, applied several coats of UV spar. The doors now look like they are brand new! They even fixed two (2) of our cabin doors that have been difficult to close/lock. Both doors now open/close seamlessly. As in prior jobs, they were very careful in site preparation and cleanup.
