If you're looking for a true Irish pub experience in Doolin, this is it…read more It's a typical, unassuming pub that fills up quickly with both locals and tourists, creating that perfect lively Irish atmosphere. The service was incredibly attentive and welcoming. The fish and chips? Hands down the BEST I've ever had -- perfectly crisp on the outside, flaky and tender inside. And the seafood chowder was beyond words. Rich, flavorful, and packed with seafood. Of course, the beer was fresh and delicious, just as it should be. An awesome, cozy spot that delivers on everything you hope for in a great Irish pub. We'll be back.

A true Irish Pub experience, bravo!…read more Our tour guide/ bus driver chose this location for us and gloated on how they have the best fish and chips in all Ireland here, as you can expect I was pretty eager to get on and try them. The fish and chips did not disappoint and the portion size was very generous. If I had to pick a flaw I suppose I would mention the size of the container of the tartar sauce that comes with the meal is very small, about three smears worth. Also, omg, look at the chips! Those are some unique shaped chips, at first I thought they were potato chips that were fried but no, they were French fries that looked like a potato chip. We stopped here after visiting the cliffs of Moher, the restaurant is located in Doolin County, which I believe has a cave you can visit if you want to get some more adventures in after a great meal at a terrific authentic Irish Pub. As always people SYOY!!!

Joe Watty's was our pub-and-grub home base when we visited Inishmoor -- and what a joy it is. It's…read morea proper pub, nothing fancy, with wooden tables and a fireplace and black-and-white photos strung up on the walls. Over the course of two days, I tried the seafood chowder, the carrot soup, the goat cheese salad, and the bowl of mussels. The food isn't cheap, but it's good and hearty. The best part of this place is the ambiance. There's something about Joe Watty's -- the warmth? the cheery vibe? the hospitality? -- that makes you want to stay forever. Maybe it's the trad music that starts at 8pm. Or the fact that this was the only establishment serving hot food, which meant all the B&B residents on this side of the island were clustered here for a pint. Regardless, every time we sat down, we ended up staying for ages, chatting to folks, listening to music, trading beer with strangers. We also went through the entire gin list (it's a long one!), and then some. (Be sure to try Bertha's Revenge, by the way, which is distilled from milk whey and named after a legendary 48-year-old cow. Absolutely delicious.) Joe Watty's is an easy place to settle into for the evening. A simple, small-town delight. We probably spent a cumulative 11 hours here over the course of two days, and we're glad we did.
