Free to visit, one of the most popular spots on the Freedom Trail. Lots of tourists, but it's a bigger place, so you can avoid some spots and come back later. Shady area, be respectful when walking around. 1660 is the year established for the cemetery. It started as a Granary. Later on, historic figures were buried here: Paul Revere, James Otis, Samuel Adams, John Hancock, victims of the Boston Massacre. Mother Goose, who inspired the character is laid to rest here, we were determined to find the grave, it was a tad hard since the writing on the grave is faded, but alongside other visitors, we succeeded. The "Soul Effigy," a skull is a motif common noticed on headstones, as an after life belief. Well preserved historic cemetery!

Let me explain. Granary Burying Ground is free. Although there are tours with guys dressed up in Revolutionary times attire and white powdered wigs who give you some sort of pun filled 5th grade education story about Paul Revere. The day/time I came the Burying ground was filled with 2 of these tours and a middle school field trip. The graveyard isn't big enough for this or the big 4 everyone is here to see. There were over 100 people in here when I was here and that is entirely too many. The graveyard has a ton of old cemetery plots, but many have weathered over the years to the point they aren't legible. The big 4 are Sam Adams, Paul Revere, John Hancock and Mother Goose. Mother Gooses's tombstone is all but illegible. Also why is John HanCOCK's tombstone the only one in the whole burial ground phallicly shaped? Sorry I am a 12-year-old mentally. Anyway, definitely a must stop if in Boston for the 1st time but watch for the crowds

The wake/memorial was amazing, their staff were always nearby but "invisible" - just out of sight. On the morning of the funeral everything went off without a hitch. Every detail was just right including putting the "US Army" insignia on the hearse and providing us a TV with HDMI input for us to present our slide show of the best photos. Everything we requested was done right and was done quietly and quickly. Props to TJ and Lou and the other fine folks at Doherty's, it was a beautiful send-off for our member of the Greatest generation.

We had initially thought the meeting was going well and they were understanding our personal requests. When we asked a few clarification questions to make sure the funeral would abide by our religious and cultural customs, the guy that was helping us all of the sudden said that the funeral director was not available at the date we request (despite stating earlier that the director would be available on our requested date). And then he shut down the conversation. My family left the building, but my aunt went back to retrieve a pair of glasses that were left behind. When she returned to the building, she heard the employee that was helping us stating that we were cheap and did not want to spend money on our passed relative. We felt very disrespected at such a trying and vulnerable time. We would never give our business to a place that disrespects their clients in such a manner. We felt as if our culture and religious customs were being disrespected. It was borderline racist. Would never come here again.

I have attended quite a handful of funerals here at Wing Fook previously and have noticed that their services were rushed. I even heard that their prices were high, but thought I would make an appointment anyways to discuss the options. It went down hill from here. My husband and I were at the front door for our 11am appointment. We ran the doorbell and a man opened the door. I told him that I had called yesterday and made an appointment. He asked again whether we had an appointment and I said "YES". He let us in and told us to wait in waiting area. He spoke to the lady at the front desk and asked her to take care of us. Her facial expressions and body language showed me that she didn't want to assist us, but that she was forced to do it. She finally turned around and took out a folder with forms in it. The other man asked us to take a seat and I asked "Are you sure?" He nodded yes. We sat down and the lady asked for my dad's SS card. I asked why, and she stated it was needed to fill out the paperwork. I started to heat up at this point. I'm already in a very emotional state with my dad's passing and then having to deal with people who are supposed to be compassionate and caring, but NOT. I told her that I was here to discuss the services and options first, therefore no paperwork needed. The lady showed us a menu of services (a laminated sheet) and didn't go into much details. I told her that we were heading over to another funeral home in the North End. She hinted that they are more expensive over there. I left the place feeling lost and confused. They were certainly not helpful and it appears that they just want to take your money and then push you out. In conclusion, stay away. Also I ended up choosing the other funeral home in the North End.
