My sister and I had never made funeral arrangements before but Brian helped us to understand what decisions we needed to make and was very patient with us, even letting us know that we could always change our minds and that they would make things happen as we wanted. We felt at ease knowing that they would handle everything and that we didn't have to worry about anything the day of the services. He even recommended a wonderful florist, FJ Luxury, where they were also very kind and created a beautiful all white half casket piece that was stunning and exactly what I had envisioned. They handled everything with the death certificate, arranging the burial with the cemetery, and getting his obituary published to the website (we opted not to do anything more public, but they would have helped with that as well). We had a million questions and he was always very responsive and helpful. The home itself is also lovely - cozy, charming, and well kept. Very grateful that we had Brian and the rest of the team to support us through this process.

I went there to visit relatives' graves (as I often do) and their superintendent and his team were…read moreleaf cleaning. I stopped in front of Mr. Stewart "Skip" Smith's truck, realized there wasn't room for two vehicles side by side and began to back up. I never got near his truck, let alone alongside it, nor on the grass. I remained in the middle of the gravel road in front of his truck at all times. Mr. Smith literally charged at my vehicle and screamed at me in red-faced rage. Said I was attempting to drive over graves and repeatedly demanded I roll down my window. I refused, said I was attempting to back up when he charged my car and began to verbally assault me. He demanded I leave the cemetery after more verbal abuse and repeatedly insisting I open my car to him. I felt threatened, pulled onto the street and called the police. By the time the cops arrived he had calmed down but bold-faced lied to the officers. He said I was argumentative and out of control and "had driven over 5 or 6 graves" and he "wasn't going to allow anyone to desecrate graves." I am still in shock. This man may be fine to clean up the cemetery for the last 30 years but he has NO business dealing with the public. Rage issues, aggression and outright lies to the police? That's some way to run a cemetery. UPDATE: Before leaving the scene I called Dell Cemetery's association number and left a VM requesting to speak with someone about this incident and specifically requested it not be Mr. Smith who returned my call and who do you think called me back less than half an hour later? My good friend Skip Smith (!!) who again became angry and verbally abusive to me. I hung up. This beloved cemetery is forever stained for me now. And to think my husband I were contemplating buying a family plot in the new section. Not a chance in hell now...
