I have been coming to her studio for about 5 yrs and have never been late so I was mortified that I was going to disrupt her schedule or even worse....NOT BE SEEN!!!!! Ladies, we know that when we go to NYC and sit in that chair we are about to be completely resurrected. I was praying that the creature that left the house would not have to return "uncoifed". Upon leaving the salon I noticed a track lifting up. I rightfully assumed the track was secure and maybe needed to be cut closer to the knot. Boy was I wrong. 4 weeks later after washing my sew in, the track has lifted nearly an inch! I called Fashion and her response was for me to spend more of my time and money for her to fix it at an additional cost of "$5 or $10". It's simply asinine to expect someone to pay for YOUR mistake. A professional, careful stylist would have made sure everything was secured before customer gets out of their chair. If you cannot get it right the first time at least fix it for free. On top of that, she insists this is normal and is expected when you get a sew in . I consulted with a new stylist I will be seeing and they agreed she was careless and did not secure the track. Her weaves lay flat, her closures are installed seamlessly, her curls bounce and she makes her clients (including me) look flawless. But, that's not why I'm here. There are many stylists who can do hair. Let's talk about the other things that are so dearly lacking in most stylists. Cleanliness: Fashion's shop is clean and comfortable. Her styling tools are clean, the shop smells fresh and you wouldn't mind leaning back in the shampoo bowl. I've visited salons where I didn't want to put my purse down. Professionalism: Fashion requires her clients to book one month in advance, which is difficult for some. However, your appointment is YOUR appointment. Not only is she ready for you at your allotted time, she is not servicing other clients while working on your head. You receive personalized attention from her. Technique: Fashion is not only good at weaving, she understands the importance of taking care of your natural hair underneath. She does not braid too tight, takes care to not braid your edges if they're fragile like mine, uses a protective stocking before sewing and does not sew too tight either. NOTE: I went to Fashion specifically for a protective style while transitioning from a relaxer to natural hair. My natural hair is over 12 inches, thick and healthy. Pricing: Fashion is not the cheapest weaveologist out there, but she is not the most expensive either. For the service and professionalism she provides, she can easily charge much more, but chooses not to. I said I wanted a vixen sew in (which cost more) and she told me I didn't need one to get the look I wanted and it wouldn't work with my hair and that with a vixen sew in the hair could not be used again. She attached it in a way that it looked as if it were my own - if I had long hair that is. I have a small head and was worried about it looking too 'weavy'. Fashion is pleasant, fast and good at what she does. I've always enjoyed my visits to her studio. Unfortunately, the scheduling process is why I had to move on after seeing Fashion every 2 months for 2+ years. The whole waking up at midnight on the first of the month to book an appointment for the next month... then waking up 7 hours later to check her response to see if you got a slot only to find out you didnt so you have to text back and forth to coordinate schedules is just too stressful for me. One day, I snapped back to reality and thought -- really? I'm going through all of this for a basic sew-in??! I moved on to someone else who charges almost twice as much but I now have more flexibility when scheduling appointments and I feel appreciated as a client. The appointment scheduling process at this studio made me feel like I was in a cattle call and as a regular client, I ultimately found it insulting and felt unappreciated. I like Fashion a lot but she clearly doesn't need my money (which is good for her :) ) so I took it elsewhere. Doubt she's even noticed I'm gone! Note: As another reviewer stated, she does braid in a beehive style, which is why I assumed the install and styling take no more than 2 hours. I went to see Fashion the Weavologist at her NYC Weave Studio back in March for my first full head install with a lace closure. Fashion did an AMAZING job. I was a little nervous to get an install, being that I'm hispanic and I have very fine hair. I voiced my concerns to Fashion, stating that I was afraid that the tracks wouldn't stay put in my hair and she assured me that it would. Before my appointment, I exchanged texts with Fashion for a consultation and I sent her a photo of the style I was looking for. She told me how many bundles to purchase, the lengths of each and also where to buy the hair. She only recommends the best quality hair. I am VERY satisfied with my purchase. She also has YouTube videos that are very informative as well...I made sure to watch all of her videos before my appointment. My appointment took about 2 hours. She was very professional and informative. She told me which products to use & which not to use. She taught me how to properly wrap the hair and taught me how to curl the hair using a curling wand. I felt comfortable when I left the studio. A couple of weeks later, I decided that I wanted to remove the lace part. I contacted Fashion via text, and she made herself available at the last minute to remove it at no charge. I love that she makes herself available via text or email for an appointment request or consultation. I will never go to another weavologist as long as I wear weaves! I want to start off by saying that my experience at NYC Weave Studio was exceptional. Out of the ten plus years that I have been going to various hair stylists and salons, I have never left an appointment feeling as satisfied and well taken care of as I did today. And I believe that is all as a result of Fashion's great customer service and expertise. My appointment was scheduled for 10 am. I arrived at the establishment on time and upon being buzzed in was pleasantly greeted by Fashion who showed me where I could set my bag before directing me to her chair. The salon was cute and girly, and every station was clean. There was even a flower installation selfie wall for pics after a bomb install. The only two people present during the appointment were Fashion and I, and this is actually one of her unique policies, where each client is afforded an exclusive hair experience with her during their appointment free from any other people. As I am particularly sensitive about the current state of my hair, due to it having been damaged in other less successful installs, this policy particularly appeals to me. In regards to the appointment itself, Fashion begin by asking to see inspiration pictures of the hair style I was going for, along with the hair I had brought to use in the install. I explained to her my hair concerns, having suffered in the past at the hands of inexperienced hair stylists. I had areas of hair thinning that I wanted camouflaged and a specific hair style I wanted achieved with the installation. Fashion listened to my concerns and offered her knowledgeable opinion on the best way for us to proceed keeping in mind both my hair goals and the current state of my hair. I found her demeanor during this process to be kind, humble, knowledgeable and straight forward. I never felt as though she was misleading me with her suggestions, or trying to sell me a dream. In the end we arrived at a finished product that was beautiful and also addressed my issues. Conversation between us at the onset was somewhat minimal, and based mostly around my hair goals and concerns. As the appointment progressed however, conversation organically evolved into pleasant chit chat which felt natural (almost as if I was hanging out with a girlfriend) and helped the time to pass rather quickly. From start to finish the whole installation process (including cut and styling) took approximately two hours, which is exactly the estimate she gives on her website. I was in at 10 and out by 12:05. I will definitely be returning to NYC Weave Studio for all of my future weave installations. The finished product exceeded my expectations, but most importantly I feel Fashion is a hair stylist who genuinely cares about her craft and about providing the best possible experience for the client. Fashion is a stylist of her word. She promises you will be in and out of her chair in 2 hours and you truly are in her chair for 2 hours max! She is very professional in her demeanor towards her clients and treats them respectfully - I always feel appreciated as a client! She cares very much about the quality of her work and her extensions are done beautifully. I have never had any extensions loosen and they always hold for 3 months without the need for me to get them reattached. Her braids are not braided too tightly, but are secure enough where they are not headache inducing and you can sleep comfortably the first couple of nights. I went to Fashion for the first time yesterday, I was running a little late (13 mins) I began to panic because she's ON TIME, I didn't want to start off on a bad note as well as pay the late fee. I made it to her at 12:13 and she got right to work (after I apologized) she braided, sewn my weave in, cut, flat iron and styled my FULL HEAD weave. I was sayingood bye and walking out at 1:50. Moral of the story BE ON TIME !!!!!! My hair looks great and it is LAID !!!! The shop is clean, very pretty. Fashion doesn't over talk nor does she under talk she's perfect, there's a nice size television if you want to watch it. Fashion was very helpful, and gave tips on how to take care of my hair. I was nervous about trying out a new hair stylist as I was not too thrilled about my last install. I texted Fashion on a whim and her super fast response took me by surprise. I arrived at the salon ten minutes early and she was there waiting. She has such an extensive knowledge of hair and makes sure that you are aware of what is going on. The end result was the best closure install I've ever had. I opted for the NYC package which covers all bases and is a very good price compared to other places in the area. The salon space is great and gives you a sense of privacy. You don't have to deal with a million people walking in and out. I will definitely be back! read more

I went for my install on 11/23/12 Fashion was very polite and professional. Usually I would be in the chair for at least 4 hours for a sew in... Fashion did it in 2.. I was scared at first because of how quick she did it but kept telling myself "She knows what shes doing"... My hair has NEVER looked this PERFECT and REAL before... She made my sew in so versatile that I'm able to throw it up in a ponytail.. She also layered my hair to perfection... Fashion is BY FAR the best hair stylist in NY.
