The hairstyle was good. I was surprised by the welcome or actually felt not welcome and untrusted. Especially when we requested that I go first to the atm to withdraw the cash before she starts. She may have her reasons but I was surprised of the customer service, felt uncomfortable by the overall interaction and decided not to come back. read more

My appointment and experience was flawless. I cannot ever recall having an install without pain but Fashion made it painless. Our conversation was so good that the appointment flew by. I was in and out in 2 hours and the end result was even better than my reference pics. Her location and salon are ideal. I went to the lovely Salon of Fashion on 9/29/22. I had experienced a harrowing morning of terrible traffic and was late. She was amazingly kind and calming. I have been coming to her studio for about 5 yrs and have never been late so I was mortified that I was going to disrupt her schedule or even worse....NOT BE SEEN!!!!! Ladies, we know that when we go to NYC and sit in that chair we are about to be completely resurrected. I was praying that the creature that left the house would not have to return "uncoifed". She made me beautiful again as she has done every single time I sit in her chair. I would never, ever consider letting anyone near my head because Fashion is no risk, a guarantee for a successful install every single time. I truly don't know what I would do without her. She is a beautiful spirit inside and true beauty outside(not that the outside matters but....had to say it). Thank you Fashion....I am eternally yours..follically. ( read more

Upon leaving the salon I noticed a track lifting up. I rightfully assumed the track was secure and maybe needed to be cut closer to the knot. Boy was I wrong. 4 weeks later after washing my sew in, the track has lifted nearly an inch! I called Fashion and her response was for me to spend more of my time and money for her to fix it at an additional cost of "$5 or $10". It's simply asinine to expect someone to pay for YOUR mistake. A professional, careful stylist would have made sure everything was secured before customer gets out of their chair. If you cannot get it right the first time at least fix it for free. On top of that, she insists this is normal and is expected when you get a sew in . I consulted with a new stylist I will be seeing and they agreed she was careless and did not secure the track. With a 4.8 Google review this is unacceptable. read more

I had nothing short of a 5-star experience with Fashion at her NYC Weave Studio. She is professional, welcoming, and did a great job on my sew-in. In addition to her obvious styling talent, she offered hair care advice based on my personal needs/ concerns, gave me a product for free, and used some hair she had in stock to create a better-blended, more natural look based on my hair's texture. I was in and out in 2.5 hours and have already recommended her to two colleagues. Thank you, Fashion! read more

Yelp came to the rescue when I searched for a weave salon and this place was one of the first to pop up. Great reviews, great photos, and great tips on the website. I'd been waiting for my appointment for nearly 2 months! And finally this morning it arrived. I was early, thought I'd be late, and Fashion was on time. We started right away. She's very professional and quick. I have to admit I was a little nervous but also very excited. I wasn't sure if my hair would blend well with the hair. BTW, when a popular stylist uses fabhair and recommends it, use it! All my worries disappeared after the styling. My hair matched perfectly to the hair. I look amazing and Fashion did an incredible job. By the way, I asked her how she keeps her great figure and she recommended GG bran crispbread from Scandinavia. She and I joked that I will mention this on my review as a one stop shop deal. Lose weight and look great. Thanks Fashion! read more

Living in the Upper West Side it's hard to find someone who does weaves for specifically the women of color. When I stumbled upon this establishment on Instagram and google i was stoked. I saw the owners work and reviews and was sold. Now the pandemic couldn't let me be great. I had to wait three months before I was able to to finally get my hair done but it was worth it !!!!! I was her first appointment of the day. I love the fact that nobody else is allowed In the salon. You really feel like you're getting her undivided attention and there's no distractions and it's just great. I asked for a custom color weave and she actually did it even better than how i expected it to come. Now Lyala's hands are like magic. When she braids there's NO PAIN whatsoever. She does it so quickly and with perfection. And when she sewed my weave it was perfect. My head usually hurts after I get a sew in but NOT this time. Everything laid flat. Baby hairs slicked to perfection. We had a good convo and she taught me some stuff about hair. Overall it was a good experience. My hair looked so beautiful and natural. I got sooo many compliments with my hairstyle. I found my new weave stylist. I'm so excited. I highly recommend her. Her prices reflect her work. If you're looking for quality than come here. It's worth it. read more

After my first appointment with Fashion at NYC Weave Studio I will be a long term devotee. She is AWESOME!! The salon is cute and clean and best of all she does amazing work while honoring your time. I arrived at 3:51 and was in her chair at 4:00 (my scheduled appointment time) and was ready to walk out with a bouncy new do by 5:40. My hair looks natural and her technique will protect my hair underneath. She has a really gentle touch so no missing edges. The best weave service you will receive in NYC hands down. Fashion is knowledgable and beyond skilled in her craft. I've been with her for over 5 years and I would never go to anyone else. She is dope! Her reviews speaks for itself. She knew exactly what to do to my hair as soon as she saw me. The hair is great quality. She is friendly but strict about having on your mask and being on time. She dedicates her time to you and your hair privately, no other customers allowed in the shop. She took exactly 2hrs as stated at booking. Come with your hair already washed and a photo of the hair style that you want and she will make miracles happen. Fashion has been doing my installs for over two years. She is the first stylist to do an install on this head - and hopefully the last. You can visit Fashion's Instagram page to see pictures of her work. Her weaves lay flat, her closures are installed seamlessly, her curls bounce and she makes her clients (including me) look flawless. But, that's not why I'm here. There are many stylists who can do hair. Let's talk about the other things that are so dearly lacking in most stylists. Cleanliness: Fashion's shop is clean and comfortable. Her styling tools are clean, the shop smells fresh and you wouldn't mind leaning back in the shampoo bowl. I've visited salons where I didn't want to put my purse down. Professionalism: Fashion requires her clients to book one month in advance, which is difficult for some. However, your appointment is YOUR appointment. Not only is she ready for you at your allotted time, she is not servicing other clients while working on your head. You receive personalized attention from her. Technique: Fashion is not only good at weaving, she understands the importance of taking care of your natural hair underneath. She does not braid too tight, takes care to not braid your edges if they're fragile like mine, uses a protective stocking before sewing and does not sew too tight either. NOTE: I went to Fashion specifically for a protective style while transitioning from a relaxer to natural hair. My natural hair is over 12 inches, thick and healthy. Pricing: Fashion is not the cheapest weaveologist out there, but she is not the most expensive either. For the service and professionalism she provides, she can easily charge much more, but chooses not to. If you need a weave, I recommend you buy some good quality human hair and make an appointment with Fashion. You will be most pleased. read more

Such a cute lil shop in Murray Hill ! ( I've had a lil crush on this neighborhood for a few years) Anyway Fashions shop is cozy and definitely quaint. As cozy and sweet as she is. I just moved to NY and I was so afraid to find a new stylist because I've heard such bad things about how unfriendly New Yorkers are... usually from people who have never lived here or have Stanky attitudes to begin with. Anyway I found this shop online and I'm really glad I booked it! First Mrs. Fashion is very beautiful! She has such a kindred spirit her soul is very pure I felt a good connection with her right when I walked in her door. She held a great convo with me and was very helpful/ knowledgeable about many aspects of life she gave me a lot of good tips that I'm definitely going to use in my journey here in New York. I feel like it's important to have a stylist you can have a genuine convo and friendship with. And Fashion definitely has that going for her. Anyway now about her work when I contacted her she responded to me within the next hour I was able to book an appointment with her two days later for the earliest time. :) she was super friendly for that process as well. She did my hair really fast I was done in about 1 and 30 mins. And she did a beautiful job. I'm tender headed and she didn't pull my hair tight at all. The braids are nice and everything is secure. She is very talented I literally walked out of the shop and was complimented on my hair several times. She carved out 2 hours for the appointment so you will have your much needed privacy and time to connect with your hairdresser. She specializes in many different weave styles! She had a few custom wigs being made and they looked super fab. And the price was very good! Especially for such a talented stylist in manhattan. So if you're looking for a beautiful hairstyle you must go to Fashion! I will definitely be back ! Hope this review helps! will add pictures soon. read more

This was a perfect hair appointment. I have been to a number of salons some good, many not so much, but NYC weave studio was great. I got there early for a 10AM weekday appointment and she was there before me. She was welcoming, warm and sweet. The salon was clean, organized and cute. She asked for a picture of the hairstyle I wanted. I said I wanted a vixen sew in (which cost more) and she told me I didn't need one to get the look I wanted and it wouldn't work with my hair and that with a vixen sew in the hair could not be used again. She works fast, and was able to talk me through how to take care of my weave. I love how my hair came out. All around a very pleasant experience - I finally found my go to stylist. read more

Love Love Love this salon! I had been on the hunt for the perfect hairstylist and 'weavologist' for a very long time. My search has finally ended with NYC Weave Studio. My mother and I had previously gotten our hair done by both Fashion and Priscilla at different locations, and I can guarantee you that both of these ladies have SKILLS!! Unlike other stylists, Fashion and Priscilla take great care to not only make sure that your weave is 'laid to the gawds', but that the health of your hair underneath is up to par as well. You'll never entrust your tresses to anyone else after you visit this salon. Both ladies are professional, have great personalities and know how to make each and every client feel beautiful. Plus, the salon is decorated in pink, silver, black and crystal! What's not to love?! read more

Fashion is pleasant, fast and good at what she does. I've always enjoyed my visits to her studio. Unfortunately, the scheduling process is why I had to move on after seeing Fashion every 2 months for 2+ years. The whole waking up at midnight on the first of the month to book an appointment for the next month... then waking up 7 hours later to check her response to see if you got a slot only to find out you didnt so you have to text back and forth to coordinate schedules is just too stressful for me. One day, I snapped back to reality and thought -- really? I'm going through all of this for a basic sew-in??! I moved on to someone else who charges almost twice as much but I now have more flexibility when scheduling appointments and I feel appreciated as a client. The appointment scheduling process at this studio made me feel like I was in a cattle call and as a regular client, I ultimately found it insulting and felt unappreciated. I like Fashion a lot but she clearly doesn't need my money (which is good for her :) ) so I took it elsewhere. Doubt she's even noticed I'm gone! Note: As another reviewer stated, she does braid in a beehive style, which is why I assumed the install and styling take no more than 2 hours. But honestly, what more would you expect for $190 (which was the price until a couple of months ago)? Perhaps she uses another braiding style if you request otherwise? read more

I got my hair done by Fashion for my Sept 6th wedding. My hair is natural, 4c, and this was the first time I've had a weave done on my hair. First, Fashion is very professional, she keeps time, has a clean, comfortable, and zen salon, and is very efficient with time. My weave was simply gorgeous! She attached it in a way that it looked as if it were my own - if I had long hair that is. I have a small head and was worried about it looking too 'weavy'. I was blown away and so was my husband :-). It's been 2 months and a week now and still holding up after a wedding, travel abroad, multiple local trips, pool and ocean water, you name it! I'm at a work conference right now with it. She did however instruct me on how to maintain it so following that definitely helped. I'll take it down soon as my hair growth is significant, but I already know I'll never get a weave done anywhere else. NYC is lucky to have Fashion! She's an artist - and she knows her art well! read more

I went to see Fashion the Weavologist at her NYC Weave Studio back in March for my first full head install with a lace closure. Fashion did an AMAZING job. I was a little nervous to get an install, being that I'm hispanic and I have very fine hair. I voiced my concerns to Fashion, stating that I was afraid that the tracks wouldn't stay put in my hair and she assured me that it would. Before my appointment, I exchanged texts with Fashion for a consultation and I sent her a photo of the style I was looking for. She told me how many bundles to purchase, the lengths of each and also where to buy the hair. She only recommends the best quality hair. I am VERY satisfied with my purchase. She also has YouTube videos that are very informative as well...I made sure to watch all of her videos before my appointment. My appointment took about 2 hours. She was very professional and informative. She told me which products to use & which not to use. She taught me how to properly wrap the hair and taught me how to curl the hair using a curling wand. I felt comfortable when I left the studio. A couple of weeks later, I decided that I wanted to remove the lace part. I contacted Fashion via text, and she made herself available at the last minute to remove it at no charge. I love that she makes herself available via text or email for an appointment request or consultation. I will never go to another weavologist as long as I wear weaves! Fashion is truly the BEST and I highly recommend her. Cant wait to go back and get my 2nd install. read more

Fashionn is awesome. 1.Prices are AMAZING for NY. 2. Shes honest and will give you the best options for the greatest outcome. 3. Shop is SUPER clean and she is timely. 4. Quick! I was done in less than 2 hrs. She has been doing this for some time. As a natural with a crown of hair I adore, I was nervous at first because a sew-in in NY for less than 150 is just unheard of if its good..... My hair looked great! Totally worth the trip. read more

As hair stylists go, Fashion is exceptionally talented. I have had the pleasure of visiting this salon twice. I went in for an install on 5/10/12 and returned for another install on 7/18/12. I keep my extensions in for 2 months as recommended to maintain hair health. Fashion has always treated my hair with the utmost respect and tenderness while installing sew-in extensions. I appreciate her kind banter, professionalism, and insight surrounding hair care. I also appreciate her service prices, as they are phenomenal. In fact, they are more reasonable than any other stylist I have used for sew-in weaves. She's a highly conscious business woman and her expertise really shows. I have been toying with the idea of getting a weave for the past year. I wear my hair natural and have it colored blonde, so I wanted to find a style that was glamorous, easy, natural looking and healthy for my hair. After extensive research, it became clear that Fashion was the best person to book an appointment with... she is AMAZING! Nervous about installing my very first weave, as well as having the color match my hair (which is many shades of blonde), I reached out to her before my appointment and she provided me with nothing less than SUPERB advice and direction as I prepared for the appointment. I set up a time to purchase the hair directly from her prior to my appointment and when I arrived this afternoon for the install, it was colored to match my hair PERFECTLY. Fashion is extremely affable, kind and professional. She is a stunning and beautiful woman inside and out. The studio is very clean and stylish. It was also the fastest and most pleasant appointment I have ever had... a major bonus for me. She is extremely efficient and I can sincerely say that she is not only incredible at installing... but an expert at coloring, cutting and styling as well! I have never felt blown away at the end of any sort of hair appointment until this afternoon. I could not be more happy with my hair. 3 words...I LOVE FASHION So worth taking the bus and train to get to her. She is definitely professional without being too cold. Ladies, listen up. If you want the weave of your dreams, then Fashion is the stylist you want to install it! Be prepared for your appointment and you will be amazed. Show up on time, with your hair clean and dry, your extensions clean and sorted, and a picture of your desired look. Then simply sit in the chair for two hours and BAM~! ASK, BELIEVE, AND RECEIVE. The work is all performed by Fashion herself, and she only works on one client at a time. Lots of personal time and attention. You can ask hair questions or just chat about reality shows. No crazy braiding happening here. And your closure will sit so flat YOU might forget that's NOT your scalp you're seeing! Your weave will lay flat and guess what??? All of your hair and hairline will be in tact when you take the weave down. This is protective styling at its best. Her coloring skills are also top notch. I was nervous about ombre'ing my beloved Extensions Plus hair. No worry was necessary. I've been having more fun as a blonde for a year now and no thoughts of looking back! The color is consistent and rich and natural. Oh and the end result style? Gone with the wind fabulous! Great layering and bouncy body curls are just a bonus coming out of this salon experience. The salon itself is intimate and stylish, perfectly chic. No overcrowding or busy subway station feel here. And the location is convenient for easy on and off access to the FDR with affordable parking on 34th street (and 36th street too). Be clear....you will need to book your appointment well in advance. NYC Weave Studio - Flawless work by NYC Weave Studio - Hair Salons Near Me - New York, New York

I want to start off by saying that my experience at NYC Weave Studio was exceptional. Out of the ten plus years that I have been going to various hair stylists and salons, I have never left an appointment feeling as satisfied and well taken care of as I did today. And I believe that is all as a result of Fashion's great customer service and expertise. My appointment was scheduled for 10 am. I arrived at the establishment on time and upon being buzzed in was pleasantly greeted by Fashion who showed me where I could set my bag before directing me to her chair. The salon was cute and girly, and every station was clean. There was even a flower installation selfie wall for pics after a bomb install. The only two people present during the appointment were Fashion and I, and this is actually one of her unique policies, where each client is afforded an exclusive hair experience with her during their appointment free from any other people. As I am particularly sensitive about the current state of my hair, due to it having been damaged in other less successful installs, this policy particularly appeals to me. In regards to the appointment itself, Fashion begin by asking to see inspiration pictures of the hair style I was going for, along with the hair I had brought to use in the install. I explained to her my hair concerns, having suffered in the past at the hands of inexperienced hair stylists. I had areas of hair thinning that I wanted camouflaged and a specific hair style I wanted achieved with the installation. Fashion listened to my concerns and offered her knowledgeable opinion on the best way for us to proceed keeping in mind both my hair goals and the current state of my hair. I found her demeanor during this process to be kind, humble, knowledgeable and straight forward. I never felt as though she was misleading me with her suggestions, or trying to sell me a dream. In the end we arrived at a finished product that was beautiful and also addressed my issues. Conversation between us at the onset was somewhat minimal, and based mostly around my hair goals and concerns. As the appointment progressed however, conversation organically evolved into pleasant chit chat which felt natural (almost as if I was hanging out with a girlfriend) and helped the time to pass rather quickly. From start to finish the whole installation process (including cut and styling) took approximately two hours, which is exactly the estimate she gives on her website. I was in at 10 and out by 12:05. I will definitely be returning to NYC Weave Studio for all of my future weave installations. The finished product exceeded my expectations, but most importantly I feel Fashion is a hair stylist who genuinely cares about her craft and about providing the best possible experience for the client. She delivered a beautiful install despite the challenges that the state of my own hair presented. I would hands down recommend her to others and I am looking forward to embarking on a new positive hair journey with her as my stylist! read more

I did some research on serval different salons, I basically was looking for a new person to install my weave, Googled and the Weaveologist salon came up. The NYC Weave Studio was the most informative and professional website I ever seen. From giving you detailed information on your weave Options to different types of hair bundles and weave products. I was lucky enough to get appointment. When someone else canceled, this lady is booked and busy. So I hopped on the chance to get an installment, I bought my bundles on site, Got edge control free. My hair came out beautifully, no complaints, many compliments from random people. So very happy I went. This place is quite a Gem.... Very professional clean five star experience. read more

As someone who wears hair extensions, I look for 4 things in a hairstylist: the quality of how the stylist does the client's extensions, their price point, their professionalism and last, but not least, that the stylist does not have you sitting in their chair all day (the last point being something that most women of color can relate to ). I was looking for a new hair extensions stylist, and after some research, I decided to go to Fashion. Early on, Fashion proved herself to be all of the things I look for in a service provider. Fashion is a stylist of her word. She promises you will be in and out of her chair in 2 hours and you truly are in her chair for 2 hours max! Her price point is reasonable and you won't end up spending a fortune. She is very professional in her demeanor towards her clients and treats them respectfully - I always feel appreciated as a client! She cares very much about the quality of her work and her extensions are done beautifully. I have never had any extensions loosen and they always hold for 3 months without the need for me to get them reattached. Her braids are not braided too tightly, but are secure enough where they are not headache inducing and you can sleep comfortably the first couple of nights. Her extensions are done in a way that blends in seamlessly with your own hair and looks natural and not "weavish". I have received many compliments, especially from people of color who think that the extensions are my own hair and are quite surprised when, in a few instances, I have revealed otherwise. Overall, I am very happy on all fronts with Fashion's hair extensions and I highly recommend her to all women as the go-to stylist for your hair extensions needs! read more

I went to Fashion for the first time yesterday, I was running a little late (13 mins) I began to panic because she's ON TIME, I didn't want to start off on a bad note as well as pay the late fee. I made it to her at 12:13 and she got right to work (after I apologized) she braided, sewn my weave in, cut, flat iron and styled my FULL HEAD weave. I was sayingood bye and walking out at 1:50. Moral of the story BE ON TIME !!!!!! My hair looks great and it is LAID !!!! The shop is clean, very pretty. Fashion doesn't over talk nor does she under talk she's perfect, there's a nice size television if you want to watch it. Fashion was very helpful, and gave tips on how to take care of my hair. The end result was the best closure install I've ever had. I opted for the NYC package which covers all bases and is a very good price compared to other places in the area.
