While disappointing results can sometimes happen, what bothered me most was the complete lack of communication afterward. I reached out to Masaki on May 13 regarding my concerns and attempted to resolve the issue privately. I never received a response. It has now been about a month, and despite giving plenty of time for a reply, I have been ignored. I did not immediately leave reviews or make public comments because I wanted to give him the opportunity to address the situation directly. Unfortunately, that opportunity was never taken. For $480, I expected a higher standard of work and customer service. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend Masaki.

I can't even get it fixed because it is so much shorter than I wanted. There are huge "texture" discrepancies all over my hair, the most obvious being in the back near my neck. There's also a strand of hair far longer than the entire length of my bob cut. I don't even understand how this happened. I'm so traumatized. I would never recommend this place and will never ever come back. I really had 1 chance to get a cut as a treat to myself, since I really don't have extra time to spare. And now I have to live with this until it grows out, definitely more than 6 more months. If I could give -1000 stars, I would. Please do yourself a favor and find a salon that can do a nice cut for long AND SHORT hair. WITHOUT A PERM TO MAKE IT ALL STRAIGHT FIRST. The skill level here is just so sub par. This really pissed me off because in the middle of my appointment, I even heard an assistant ask in Mandarin "is she getting a haircut?" and the stylist shook his head. I was really unhappy with my hair that I went to get a hair treatment (for the dry, damaged hair) and toner at a different salon a week later. That stylist even asked "who did your hair?"

They tested a strain on my hair and it turned out red, and said that I wouldn't be able to go ash blonde. Super grateful that they did a test but very sad that I was unable to do the color that I want. They did offer me to do like an ash brown, but that wasn't what I wanted unfortunately. I was a bit disappointed to see that it looked nothing like the picture and it was fake rose petals which I thought was weird. I'll give them an A for effort though although it looked nothing like the picture. The massage was amazing. She did a really great job. Most of my massages are pretty rough but she did a great job with light to medium pressure. I really liked the glass of champagne and the chocolate truffles. The private soak was nice but I really enjoyed the sauna. It was definitely a great experience. Came out feeling revitalized. My boyfriend really enjoyed the massage and the amenities.

First of all, let me just say I am not a fan of wearing fake hair. I mean, I've done it, but I've hated it and only when I absolutely had to...which brings me to why I visited Done Up! in the first place. One of my friends showed up on our group vacation with the best braids I'd ever seen. Thick and just lovely. I asked her where she went, she told me there was a salon she found on YELP and it was two blocks from where I worked. This is the part where I tell you the state of my hair. I'd just gotten married, had color and Keratin treatment and it began to break off and fall out. At least three inches were going to have to come off and since WINTER IS COMING... I figured I'd just put in a protective style, let those three inches grow and chop them off when the winter was over. So this lead me to Done Up. First of all, you won't find any pretense here. The place looks like a french dollhouse, the staff is friendly whereas you feel you've known them all your lives. They assume rapport, which is important. Sharon is an amazing spirit. Took one look at my head and said, "Tree braids". I had no idea what she was talking about. Another woman was there, under the dryer and she let me see her hair thankfully, and raved about the ease and the health of her hair. Still, I wasn't quite convinced. A friend of mine had crochet braids and though they looked cute on her, I wasn't really digging the lack of versatility. Sharon assured me these were totally different. So I gave it a shot. They sent me to Tony Lugo's for hair. Took one look at my face, told me what kind to get and how long. I have to say, I'm not thrilled with Lugo's, but that's another review. Let's put a pin in that one. So anyway, I get there and we get right to work. Hair washed. Dried. Sharon and I are laughing and chatting while she's braiding and I know my hair is being cornrowed but I'm seeing hair coming out of the cornrow and it's looking like a weave but it's not and I'm just like...WHAT IS THIS SORCERY?? Five hours later... I was in shock. I mean, it looked great. GREAT. It actually looked like it was my hair, just longer. I told her I didn't mind showing the start of the braids at the top (I mean, who was I fooling?) but aside from that, it looked like mine. Felt great. I walked out with a straight style but then wore it wavy and POW...IT GOT BETTER. You really couldn't tell me much. At ALL. My hair grows really quickly so I was back in two weeks to have the front re-done, but other than that, it's a month strong and I've worn it up in a bun, out, ponytail, headband, twisted up...you name it. It's such a fun style! I will be keeping my hair like this all winter and who knows, maybe even part of the spring. I love it! Great job and Sharon Alexander is AMAZINGLY talented. Just go. Normally I don't give reviews, however this review is well deserved. I happen to be one of those ladies who happened to be obsessed with hair. Therefore,i tend to buy all the hair magazines, look at all the new trends and a I happen to be a notorious perfectionist when it comes to getting my hair done. A few years ago I started looking up interlocking. My research lead me to Ms. Sharon Alexander. I contacted her and set up my first appointment-she was so accommodating- I went to her salon and immediately fell in love with the decor, the atmosphere and Ms. Alexander's personality and warmth. A true DIVA ! We talked about my vision for my hair and unlike other stylist she let me know up front what my hair can and cannot do...I can't tell you how much I appreciated the truth. Well when she finished...we decided to interlock my hair...I was already familiar with where to get my hair. Needless to say when my hair was done I was FABULOUS, and finally I found a Salon that met my every need! After some years of wearing my hair long from weave to interlock all done by my DIVA Sharon...I decided last year I wanted a change it was time for me to have an edgy look--I wanted a short cut that was hot. That's when Ms. Sharon put me in Mr. Derrick skillful hands. I gave him an idea of what I wanted. He gave me his honest opinion of what would work on me....and I am so glad I listened. Because baby...HE DID HIS THING. You couldn't tell me I wasn't a movie star. When I would go back for my touch ups he would do something new...I stayed edgy! It was exactly what I wanted! Ms. Sharon and Mr. Derrick are true professionals. Even though they service high end clients (People in Media, Models, etc.). This was the first time that I got invisible braids. I researched long and hard, because despite what people think, this type of braiding is an art. Some people only can do a certain size and with only a certain type of hair. This would not hold true for Sharon Alexander. I have had many, many, many, many, many (you get my point here right?) weaves and hair birding styles. I'm what stylists loving call destructive to my hair. But I digress. Sharon is the best stylist that I've ever been to. She's knows her craft, is passionate, and very exacting. She takes pride in her work. The style that I got was invisible braids with in the front and weave in the back. She had my hair done in 3 hours. She also worked with Derrick Wollock, who is another sweetheart. The both of them moved quickly, but were also great company. When I saw the end result, I swear I smiled all the way home. I've never had my hair done so well, that it actually looked as though it was my hair. I could not complain or pick apart any of their work. P.S. She's got a lovely little shop. I came in last Friday to get a sew in for my birthday. I didn't know what to expect being that it was my first time there. When I came in the shop was very feminine and girly, staff was very friendly. I ended up getting a very soothing head massage by Kenny which was amazing while he wash and conditioned. Ms.Sharon then came to start with my sow in and she was very sweet and I was impressed because she she listened to my concerns and knew how to take care of my transitioning hair. Once she got to braiding my hair she turned my frizzy damaged poofy hair into silk. I'm tender headed and I didn't even have to tell her not to braid my hair too tight she braided my hair gently firm and quickly. My fiancé came with me to the appointment and he was even surprised with how fast she went. She blended my natural, now silky hair with the dip dyed weave I brought in and the result was amazingggggg! My natural hair textured matched my weave and she didn't even use excessive heat. It was flowing and soft and beautiful and its been a week and I'm still getting compliments on how beautiful my hair looks. Ms Sharon is the biz! I stumbled across her while looking for ideas for a new do to help my damaged hair. While braids seemed like a good idea, I wasn't familiar with tree braids/interlocking/invisible braids. But after seeing the pix and reviews, I figure I'd at least check out this place before committing major time and money. I was SOOO impressed with Ms Sharon and her team from the get-go. Warm, friendly, and inviting was the vibe from her lovely salon, staff, and Ms Sharon. She gave me a fair quote on the cost of service (around $300), how long it would take to complete (about 3 hours), where to get hair (Lugos Hair @ 33rd St), and recommendations on what to do to prep my hair. On the day of, Ms Sharon was all smiles and enthusiasm. She listened to my concerns, eased my nervousness, and had me nearly on the floor laughing. I was so comfortable - it was truly like spending time with an old girlfriend. The process was relatively fast, surprisingly comfortable, and the outcome was BEYOND!!! I'm back writing an update on another extremely positive experience at DoneUp. I decided to get small box braids this past weekend by the very talented Sharon A. She is already masterful at weaving so I was not surprised to learn that she is just as talented with braids. Ladies I left a very happy customer. Sharon is is the constant professional and gave me great results. Not only were the braids tight and neat she did them in 5 hours which exceeded my expectation since I have a lot of hair. The one and only time I had braids before was not a great experience and took a long 8 hours (for the same look )and I left with a headache because in the end I had two people braiding my hair. In the early years, he used quality relaxer products and always gave me a flawless precision "Halle Berry-style" cut. A few years ago, I decided to go natural and he effortlessly transitioned with me and now maintains my perfect shoulder-length press and curl. I'm one of those people who never find a hair stylist that they like, and bounce around from salon to salon but I've had nothing but great experiences here. I have never had a better salon experience in my life! The staff was very accommodating, friendly and helpful, and as soon as I walked in, I felt right at home! Done Up Salon is beautifully decorated, and the atmosphere was so cozy and comfortable. And my hair has NEVER looked better. I got a relaxer touch up with Ms Sharon, and my hair has never felt so healthy and beautiful. This woman is talented beyond description, and her passion for what she does radiates throughout the salon and all of her work. I recommend this salon to EVERYONE. I was looking to get extensions and wanted a good affordable place. Found Done up via Yelp and immediately decided to go as they had so many good reviews. Best decision. They were so nice and gave me a great price and the results were a million times better than expected. I have red ombre hair with blonde tips and Oniki did such an amazing job to make the extensions look like they were part of my hair. I'm going back every two months to get extensions again. I went to Done Up on Wednesday at 3pm and was out by 6:00pm! I got box braids that Sharon did super quickly which turned out absolutely amazing. She looked at my face to see what style would look best, and when I had gone in for a consultation, she suggested what color hair and style would look best for my face and bring out my eyes... and it definitely did. When I tell you that this is the best haircut I've ever gotten in forty years, I'm not being hyperbolic. I've gone to Ouidad, Devachan, Mona Cut, non-curly salons all over Manhattan and BK. Nothing compares to the attention and care I received at Rezo. Every step in the process was explained and I was asked a lot of questions. In two hours, I was transformed. I am so relieved and grateful, because my hair does not grow quickly! I highly recommend.

However I was pleasantly surprised how warm she was and loved my result. She did talk to me throughout the process so I can know what products she's using and how to style it. She made sure to hold a mirror up and taught me how to use the product in my hair. Unfortunately wash n gos aren't easy hairstyles on kinky hair. But I loved my result and plan to come back again. This is a great first step in learning how to properly care for your curls. I wish they did more natural hairstyles.

I made an…read moreappointment for a consultation and met with Sealene who answered all of my questions about pricing, the difference between havana twists vs marley twists, price, length, and color options. She also informed me that the hair is included in the price which is great for me because I don't know the first thing about buying hair. They also offer a six week touchup for the twists. Two days later, I had my appointment at 10 am with Sealene. Sealene was already at the salon and prepping for me which I liked because I hate a late stylist unless they're late for a good reason. Sealene came out and greeted me and asked about my color choices and convinced me as a twists newbie to go with a solid color first to get used to the look before going so bold. I'm glad she told me that because sometimes I tend to dive in head first and I'm really glad I didn't go for a bolder color right off the bat. The color that she used is a bit darker than my natural hair so in a sense I got to experiment with a new color anyway and I love it. Sealene was very easy to talk to and very gentle with my hair. I tried to detangle as much as possible before arriving but Sealene had to blow dry my hair a bit to make it easier to detangle at the roots. As a natural, I'm always concerned with heat but Sealene and Lisa work with natural hair so I trusted her and Sealene used a nice warm heat and not a blaring hot heat so there was no worry of heat damage. I have a head full of hair and Sealene was done in under 3 hours. Lisa came into the salon during my last 45 minutes and I loved her personality just as much as Sealene's. I can see why they make a great team. During the last few minutes, Lisa and Sealene both worked on my hair. I invited my sister to come along to document the process and she was able to get a quick but thorough consultation from Lisa about her waist length locs. My sister and I really enjoyed Lisa and Sealene and now my sister has an appointment scheduled too! The salon is really nice. It's shared with other stylists and everyone in the salon has a really cool vibe. To make an appointment, you have to book online. I think Sealene's name should also be added to the stylists list because in other reviews, people commented that they thought they were going to see Lisa and was surprised when Sealene did their hair. When Sealene turned me around in the closest mirror, I instantly loved my look! And that's saying something since 98.999% of the time, I shy away from any styles that don't use my real hair since it looks unnatural to me. But Sealene used the invisible root method and the ends of the twists are slightly wavy so they look really natural on me. They gave me a maintenance card to let me know how I should maintain my twists at home. Lisa said that I'd get plenty of compliments and I must tell her, "Lisa, you are so right! I've gotten so many compliments and told people where I got them done!" Thanks to Sealene and Lisa, I have a nice protective style that will last for weeks during the hot and drought-stricken California season I'm in and my hair can get a break from the 25 to 38 grains per gallon very hard water I have in Santa Barbara.

I am almost fully gray (started at 11 yrs) and I live my hair color so e just focused on my hair health. We spoke first, about what my expectations are and what regimen I use. We went over everything, from products to schedules and how I style my hair at home. She started the process and went over everything that she was using, why she was using it and what it would do for my hair. She meticulously styled my hair and cut it into a shape that fit me and while it was a bit overwhelming, the look was already growing on me by the time we finished. The whole time, we talked like we were old friends because she's very personable. This was, by far, one of the best salon experiences I've ever had. She told me what I need to do at home to maintain what she's started in the salon. She emailed the products that she used so that I can recreate the styling process at home. I'm thankful for her time and dedication to the craft. A stylist can only give you the tools to assist you in your journey. You have to put in the effort to maintain so that you're successful at reaching your desired outcome. This is not the place to go if you have unrealistic expectations or if you're looking for a cheap do. You're paying for education and instruction on how to achieve greatness.
