Food was grotesquely overpriced for the level of blandness/total lack of flavor, incorrect order, and small serving size. The condiments on the tables were off color, bathrooms are gross, and the place is just overall a little grimy. The hours say they're open until 8:30 pm, but at 2:15 pm I was asked if I was done (in the middle of a bite) they're now closed and we need to leave so they can clean up. No one follows the posted hours. Came here on a Friday at 10am, wasnt open. Then I came today at 3:20pm, the open sign was flashing but the door was locked. As we were leaving we saw a worker throwing out the garbage and he told us to go to the other Montgomery location because they're still open. Like what? NYC Gyro is conveniently located very close to Maxwell AFB and is the perfect spot for lunch. The food was so delicious! The lamb gyro was full of meat and flavor. I had falafel as well, and i was so impressed! It was spicy with a great crunchy shell. The spicy herbal hummus was unlike anything I've had before. I can't wait to go back again! read more

Yeah, I was not at all impressed with my lunchtime meal. But that may be because I got "adventurous" and tried their wings instead of sticking with what was an obvious crowd favorite, their gyro. But in my defense, I saw no pictures or reviews of the wings, so I say I'm doing everyone a favor by providing both. I had such high hopes for this location because I've been to the downtown location and it was great. Unfortunately this location needs some work. The decor is seriously lacking and the air in the women's bathroom wasn't working. It was very hot and stuffy. I ordered a lamb gyro, fries, fried green tomatoes and baklava to go. When I got my food I looked in the bag and was immediately disappointed by the "fries" which were not what I was expecting. Fries are long, thin potatoes. These were small over-fried lumps of potato. And the fried green tomatoes were smooshed into a paper sleeve. Once I got home and actually tasted my food. I found the potatoes to be over crunchy, the Tomatoes to be a mushy mess and the baklava to be rancid, old and dry. The only thing that was ok was the lamb gyro. Skip this location and go to the downtown one. read more

Not like most Gyro places. If you've been to the Middle East, the Humus and Falafel here tastes just like its straight out of a Jordanian street market. Highly recommend both of those. Don't be turned away by the outside condition of the building. The sign looks like it's out of business. I think they generally took over a closed down building and are slowly building it back up, but it doesn't impact the quality at all. The food is very good. Food came out hot, and fresh and tasted yummy. The price on the other hand, more resembles New York Prices rather than Montgomery prices...maybe that's what's implied by the name? IMO 12 dollars for a combo is a little high considering that the service they provide is limited. Long story short, it's delicious but don't expect to get a bargain. read more

Right outside Maxwell, this place is a convenient, delicious lunch spot for the base but is also close enough to downtown MGM that it is a good spot if someone wants to beat the downtown crowds. The menu is diverse but I do not stray away from the Lamb Gyro Combo because, when paired with their homemade hot sauce, it is just THAT good. Take the hot sauce away and it is still amazing. The gyro is always freshly cooked and has nice, crisp edges that give the gyro a nice crunch. The pita is jam packed with gyro, lettuce, onion, and tomato so expect to walk away full and ready for a tough time staying awake at work after lunch. There are a variety of sides to choose from but yet again I stick with the fries as they are always really good. The lamb burger and regular burger look on point as well but I am going off what others have told me. All in all, I highly recommend this place for great food! read more

I have heard a lot of good things about this place so I decided to try it out with a friend yesterday for lunch. I ordered the spicy philly. Took 10 minutes for the food to arrive which was unusual since the restaurant was not full. When the philly arrived, it looked delicious but when I tried it, it did not taste good. There was some sauce on the bread that made it taste sweet and not spicy. I could not take It back because we had to leave and I did not have the time to wait another 10 minutes for food. We came here around lunch time today. It was not packed inside and no long line of waiting. Staff is friendly and efficient. We got two gyros, one lamb and one crispy chicken. Both of them are really good. I personally love crispy chicken more just for the flavor is really close to my hometown taste. Portion is big, I save half of my gyro for dinner. My sides is cheese fries, it's not as crispy but with the melted cheese, it's not too bad. Overall I'm very happy we stopped by today and will definitely come back to try something different! read more

Great place to eat! I normally get the lamb gyro and have been pleased with the food and service every time I get lunch here. It is busy during lunch, but you can call in orders too.
