Don't let the unassuming appearance fool you! This food is amazing! We had lunch on a Saturday, so it wasn't crowded. The owner asked us to let them know what we thought about the food because they are always looking to improve. I can't think of a thing to improve what we had! My husband had the mixed shawarma platter with beef and chicken ($12.99- not on menu- just ask for mixed) and I had the beef kebab platter. The salad was very fresh- finely diced tomatoes with cucumber and onion. The hummus was amazing! Smooth, flavorful and served with crunchy pita chips sprinkled over the top. The yellow rice was perfectly cooked and also very flavorful. I don't know what seasoning was used, but it's fantastic! The meats were tender and the two sauces served over top were amazing. (The menu says it comes with roasted vegetables, but they no longer include those. Thought at first I would miss it, but I loved my dish so much and was plenty full, so I can see why veggies were not needed. ) They have a selection of hot dishes they call the food bar on Fridays at lunch. The lamb was recommended, so we'll be back to try that! Baklava also came highly recommended, but that's available Mondays and when they run out, they may do another batch Wednesday. Went to try different type of food and this is a decent place. The food was good, nothing crazy exciting and I don't think I would go again. It wasn't bad, just a good experience of different cultural food. There was no waitress, just a lady at the desk who takes your order and then delivers your food to you at the table. Old school diner appearance and feel with Mediterranean food. I had the lamp chop plate which comes with 3 chops and preselected sides. Counter service to order and good will be brought to you. The one staff member I encountered was nice and the food came out fairly quick. Bathroom is located around back and the door doesn't close very well, but it's clean. I'd eat here again. read more

This was exceptional! Food was fresh and delicious. Service was very friendly. Aesthetics not great; but food more than makes up for it.

Everything is freshly made and it's all delicious. the kebab's are ground lamb/beef excellently seasoned with a little bite. Instead of rice, I substituted cucumber/Tomato/red onion salad--finely diced showing care and attention to detail--unlike other places. The hummus is so smooth it's a pleasure to eat right up. Highly recommend you try Jerusalem before other Mediterranean places. read more

Do not be fooled by the exterior or even the sparsely-decorated interior. The food is outstanding, delicious, get some. We happened to pop by on a baklava day (don't pass up what seems like an upsell!) so added a few to our meal of chicken sandwich, kebab sandwich, baba ghanoush, and french fries. Everything was freshly-made and mouthwatering. We left with our bag of leftovers - portions are generous. Try them out! read more

The exterior and interior will not WOW you but the food will. My wife and I had lunch here and we both enjoyed the food. We shared the Beef Shawerma Platter and Fried Kebbeh. It was not crowded and the food came out fresh and hot in about ten minutes. We will be eating at Jerusalem Restaurant again. read more

Absolutely amazing food. I have eaten there many times. The food is very good. The restaurant is clean and all the food is well prepared. It is delicious. I drive all the way from Huntsville to Birmingham to get it up on everything I can take out with me. You live on it for a week the food is delicious and it's so well prepared than anyone even with a delicate stomach without trouble. I give it a five star and I would give it 10 more if I could. Family who owns it or spectacular. They are mostly there and give the restaurant but are very friendly to talk with you. I wish I had wanted Huntsville. read more

I was very disappointed as I was looking forward to this hole in the wall; however, upon learning from the owner, they did not have pure beef kabobs (they mix with lamb and I did not want chicken). I felt a little bad leaving but I really didn't want anything else on the menu; however, their prices also seemed really reasonable for a Halal restaurant (another downside, I wanted wine and they serve no alcohol). You could tell the owner was trying to convince us to stay. I am sure the food is wonderful but I did not care for the experience that we had trying to order. read more

I ate at Jerusalem Restaurant on Adams Avenue on Friday. I had the braised lamb shank with yellow rice garnished with slithered almonds and fresh parsley. The yogurt sauce was phenomenal! The owner was super friendly and very accommodating. The restaurant building is old but clean. Give it a try the next time you're craving Middle Eastern food. read more

Hole in the wall with wonderful food for the price. Took my dad, who kept saying over and over how good the food was. Even with his dementia, he remembered it the next day. It's a nice surprise in downtown Montgomery. Hope to go again when I visit him. read more
