Susan and Anthony have built a wonderful business in Treblemakers. As a professional musician and…read morecomposer, I have a fairly high standard and high expectations for the musical training of my daughter. Treblemakers has exceeded those expectations. Susan not only teaches singing; she teaches *music*. Her lessons focus on the fundamentals of musicianship while maintaining my daughter's interest with fun exercises and great song choices. All the while, Anthony runs the office with aplomb, always communicating with the parents and keeping on top of the scheduling. We're extremely pleased to have found this wonderful company. -Frank P via Liz P

She creates special programs to suit the interests of the student but insists upon building core competencies such as reading music, scales, singing/comping, etc. Our friends' kids have Alexandra and love her as well. The students in the program are comfortable playing jazz, classical, pop, rock, etc. and aren't stuck in one genre. Treblemakers tailors the program to your kid's interests so you can request any song and they will work out appropriate arrangements. But don't worry - the teachers at Treblemakers all have been trained at the top music schools and have the chops to teach very difficult classical and jazz pieces as well. Most programs will not have the breadth that Treblemakers provides. (Kids can also learn a multiple instruments as well.) Suzan wrote her own method books that have great catchy tunes and they layer and layer until kids gain all the core skills including scales, chords, arpeggios, major/minor, etc. Then all of sudden the kids are really ready to play anything... Treblemakers is a family business with scheduling run by Anthony who also inspires the children, has a deep interest in the education of all students, and always makes sure the kids and parents are happy and reaching goals. We highly recommend Treblemakers and know that our kids will have the love of music and all the skills needed to enjoy playing music for the rest of their lives.

There are performances by the masters; Saturday night Howard Johnson performed with his tuba quintet GRAVITY!!! http://www.hojozone.com Yesterday evening there was a salon on multi-instrumentalism with Howard Johnson and Scott Robinson; between the two of them, they probably play most of the instruments ever invented--including cornet, flugelhorn, tuba; tenor, C-melody, baritone, bass, and contrabass saxophone; alto and bass clarinet; penny whistle; contrabass sarrusophone; theremin; and ophicleide. The Conservatory was founded in 1897 and their mission statement says: "The Conservatory promotes individual and community growth through music, and is committed to making music accessible to people of all ages, backgrounds, and skill levels." This is a wonderful, welcoming place, and fortunately can be easily reached from Manhattan on the Q train.

To be fair I'd be miserable too if I had to deal with the idiots that wander in to this place on an hourly basis, having to listen to dudes play butt rock blues riffs from sun up to sundown. However GC is good for picking up basic supplies, and great if you want a simple set up for your guitar. The repair team at this location is supremely helpful, and above all else accessible. Most experienced luthiers in the neighborhood act like you should kiss their feet for gracing you with their presence, only working three days a week (if they feel like it) and charging outrageous hourly fees. Guitar Center is affordable and always there. That's something I appreciate.

Today after flagging down three people to simply get a pedal out of a case I gave up after half an hour. On two previous occasions things they listed as having in stock they couldn't find. This is why companies like Sweetwater will continue to take over more of the market... All my orders have arrived within 36 hours from Sweetwater. They've been great with returns and you can get a sales person to notice you exist on the phone. It's too bad what's happened to Guitar Center?
