((4.5 stars)) NYC Falafel is an inconspicuous tiny eatery parked on Allen Street on the Lower East Side. there are a few tables, if you decide to dine here....not much room beyond that except for the large refrigerator full of soft drinks. it's basically a takeout spot with a menu made up of different pita sandwiches, burgers, platters of meat over rice, and side items like fries, nuggets, wings, etc. to me, the real star is the falafel pita sandwich (but it's the only sandwich i've had here so i am a bit biased. ha). the falafel is so fresh--crispy crunchy outside and soft fluffy flavorful inside...the falafel insides is seasoned so well with a mix of herbs. the falafel tastes so good along with the chopped salad that also fills the pita. each bite of the pita sandwich has a bit of the savory falafel, the fresh flavors of the salad, and layers of the smooth cool white sauce along with a spicy hot sauce that's actually hot--all that savoriness and flavors wrapped up in a soft warmed pita. Really good, no frills falafel spot that's fast and open late on the Lower East Side. They also have some convenience store-like drinks and snacks if you're looking for a place that's open late. I got a falafel pita here and it was a perfect 11:30 PM second dinner after a long day at work (and smaller than expected first dinner). The fries were also solid, hot, and exactly as filling as you want them to be. It's definitely not a sit down place, but you can eat in there if you're a stand-while-you-eat type of person. If you're staying nearby and looking for a place open after midnight, these falafel could be exactly what you're looking for. read more

It's 2:30am on a Saturday night. You are drunk and starving. Only two things you can think of is a hot slice of pizza or halal food. Stumbled upon this tiny convenience store serving halal food after a rowdy night of dancing & drinking. Went in and ordered their falafel plate - pretty standard, topped with salad, white sauce and hot sauce. One bite into that falafel and OMFG I was in heaven. The perfectly crunchy outside and the beautifully soft, bright green stuffing scooped along with the buttery saffron rice nicely soaking up the sauces - it just HIT THE SPOT. The spice level was so good and the quantity is enough to finish it in one go and you're back in business. This is really an excellent spot to satisfy your halal cravings, be it falafel or chicken over rice etc. The quality is also better than your regular halal cart. First time ordering from here. Very disappointed. They got my order wrong, toasting the pita bread didn't hide the fact that it was stale and rubbery. The falafel was cold and hard. I ordered take out from this place and ordered one falafel and rice platter and one falafel sandwich. Delivery took forever which I suspect that it is Ubereat's fault. The rice in the platter was very good - cooked to perfection and seasoned well. The sandwich was packaged nicely and wasn't soggy surprisingly but this is because there wasn't much sauce on it. I wish they included more sauce on the side at least because it was a bit dry with the little amount they had on it. So tip for when you go here, order more sauce on the side! read more

I had been hittin' the sauce a bit, when last night at the bar I got hungry. The people at the bar next door were super nice and told me where to find the closest falafel. I was not disappointed. It was fast, super cheap and they give me a single side of hummus that my friend asked for for some reason. She'd also been saucin'. I returned to the bar next door, sat down to eat and a holy light flowed up at me from the tin foil. The sauce delectable, the pits was somehow toasted and the sandwiches only lived for about ten minutes, though the brief memory of those falafels will live in on me forever. I ended up ordering the Jerusalem Falafel, which is served in a pita with eggplant and hummus... I also ordered the fresh cut fries which were amazing and definitely were fresh! My first-time ordering on 06/19/24 through Seamless. I/we are always careful as to where we order from as my daughter, and I have stomach issues. IF the owner(s) and Seamless had done the right thing I would not be leaving this review. I ordered a *new grilled chicken platter which comes with rice or salad. I chose the salad and added cauliflower. I also ordered A Greek salad and a yummy cinnamon roll. When the food arrived, I didn't recognize the platter as it was immersed in a white and reddish sauce. I could not see the salad underneath. It was drowning and no, I'm not exaggerating in two, unknown sauces WHICH WERE NOT LISTED IN THE DESCRIPTION. I noticed small cut grilled chicken pieces and we tasted a few. The dish was spicy, and both sauces were excessive. I would have never ordered this as again my daughter and I have stomach issues and avoid certain sauces and gravies. The cauliflower was on top and it was also covered in sauce. The cinnamon roll was stale and dry with the texture of stale bread and it had an odd taste as in fake. They made in worse by heating it up which does not make a food fresh again. The Greek salad was far from a Greek salad, it contained a lot of watery, small cut lettuce, 2 thin slices of cucumber, a few tomatoes and many green olives with pimentos. The photo shows black olives and pieces of feta mixed in the salad. It was so watery which was odd. The feta was not in the salad, it was on top of the salad crumbled up and it covered the entire salad. It had a sour aroma. I tried to use the help option on Seamless and every time I started to enter the problems with the food it would freeze mid-way and I had to return to the home screen again. I did this several times. I also tried on 06/20/24. Is this intentional to avoid giving me a refund or at least a partial refund which was what I was trying to do. To add, after I submitted a review, I logged in again the very next day and noticed THE DESCRIPTION WAS CHANGED TO *new grilled chicken platter, "with white and hot sauce". The restaurant and Seamless showed me how deceitful they can be including not allowing me to submit a refund or even a partial refund, $60.00+ for incorrect and stale food. The customers have no say about it? If something is really bad, customers need to speak up and not accept bad food. This has become normal for some. What happens if a customer becomes ill from bad food? Why state oh, I was starving so I accepted the wrong or stale food? It's unfair and unsafe. Perhaps this place was good at one time? The person there was so nice and showed me everything i asked for! Its really good an actually halal ( which usually i have a hard time Believing ). I do not to write negative reviews since everyone can have a bad day, but given the other reviews on Seamless, this seems like a pattern and I want to warn other people. I waited for 2 hours for my delivery which never came, I called the establishment and Seamless multiple times and every time they said the order way on the way. Eventually, I gave up and had to get a refund from Seamless. This is a hole in the wall you DONT want to miss. Delicious vegetarian falafel sandwiches and meat ones too! (I love the lamb one personally). These sandwiches are great for on the go-- no spills and they tuck everything in well. You can get platters with rice too. I love grabbing two sandwiches and going to the park-- no mess, no napkins needed. My favorite part is that it's run by a Pakistani Panjabi family and it feels just like home being in there.
