I work from home and I always make it a point to hit the Friday farmers market. On one particular morning, I was in a mad rush in between meetings and came by with no cash and paid by credit card. The woman at the cash registered felt it necessary to say something along the lines of "did you know you can walk to the other end of the farmers market to get cash?" And then proceeded to complain about credit card fees. So she basically expects me to inconvenience myself by walking to the other end of the farmers market and get charged by my credit card company for withdrawing cash so she can save twelve cents in credit card fees. I'll make it easier, I'll just shop at the other vendors who appreciate my business and don't complain because they don't like my method of payment.

I don't want to name the other farm, as I'm sure they're trying hard and from their other Yelp reviews it seems like a number of people are happy with them. But, folks. It wasn't even close. After spending about half an hour at the other farm looking for a good tree, we headed over to Wallinfarm again. The trees at Wallinfarm were full, and nicely shaped, and there were several that we would have been really happy with. The family running the farm was super-nice, and the whole process was fun. They put the tree we picked onto a ... shaker thing ... that shook the tree to get dead needles and bugs out of it. Then, they helped us get it onto the car. (We brought some rope to tie it down, and were glad we had it. They had some extra rope last year, but I'd recommend bringing your own.) We ended up with a lovely eight foot tree, some hot apple cider, and a great family memory. There are a bunch of farms in the area, and a lot of them have great reviews. I'm sure several of them are solid choices. But if you're looking at a bunch of reviews and aren't sure which Christmas tree farm to go to, I'd 100% recommend heading to Wallinfarm.

The Olive Tree Farm was able to come to our house in Santa Rosa, pick out and carefully extract the tree we wanted and store it for us for a couple months at their nursery grounds in Sonoma. Some time goes by and they're back to deliver and plant the tree in our front yard. They were quick, efficient, and tidied up the work space after they were done too! Price of everything was great.
