They did a great job cutting down and removing trees. it was their follow up that stunk. They were supposed to come back to do stump grinding, which was in the signed contract, but I never saw them again. My husband and I both tried contacting them multiple times and they claimed the machine was broke When they later gave us dates, they just didn't show up. Finally they stopped responding. I called for a quote in the fall '23, when on Thanksgiving one of our trees fell. We weren't financially prepared for the removal of the fallen tree & other trees that needed to be cut down. Ruben mentioned that if we wanted to, he could lower the price if I called him for the job in the winter months when it's slower for them. Life happens and I had to wait until the summer of '24 to get this project going. I called Ruben (owner of NWI Tree Surgeons) back, we signed the contract early June. They came to complete the job mid-June. We hired him to cut down three trees, trim others and grind all the stumps throughout the land. 1. They came to complete the job earlier than scheduled. Which was ok with us, definitely not complaining. 2. During the days they were here it was scorching hot so I offered them waters & whatever drink they wanted, access to the guest bathroom, and bought lunch for them one day. One of them even took dinner home for the family on our extra dime. Which we did out of the kindness of our hearts. 3. They ended up being here for 5 days & didn't finish the job! They left tree debris, tire marks on a neighbor's front lawn, paper towels, water bottles empty and full throughout their working area. My husband and I had to clean it all up. We put the tree debris on the curb for the town to haul away. I called, texted, and FB messaged to see when they were coming to finish, in the beginning, Ruben responded but later stopped responding, he blew me off and even blocked me for the weekend. When I finally got through to him, he said he'd be back as soon as they could because he had pneumonia, then minutes later wrote letting me know he was going to Huston to clean up hurricane damages. One day he said he had to pay one of the guys and asked for $500, trusting him, we paid him the balance owed. (I know, we're too trusting) Definitely would not have done it if I would have known it was going to be the last day they come to work. It's almost August and nor he or his crew have been back since. I suggest that if you do hire them, you hold on to your monies and make sure they complete the job and clean up before you pay them. read more
