The owner, Miguel Angel Bustos-Hernandez, came out, gave me a quote, and asked for one-third down. He told me cash was best. I paid the deposit in cash, and he emailed me a receipt showing the cash paid and the balance due. He also charged me extra for a fast turnaround, and we agreed the work would be done before the holiday. As the date got closer, the story started changing. He asked me to buy the materials myself on my own card. I told him I had already paid for the materials with the deposit and would not be giving him any more money. He then asked me to take the cashier's check I had set aside for the final balance, meet him at the bank, and cash it so he could buy supplies. I told him again that I would not pay another dime until the job was complete, and that I would cancel if it wasn't done by Memorial Day. After that, he assured me it would be 100% complete on time. The next day, he came by with material samples, and we picked our pavers. The day after that, he said the pavers would arrive in a day or two and asked which side of the driveway to put them on. That was the last I ever heard from him. No pavers, no work, and no response to my calls, texts, voicemails, or emails. I am still trying to recover my deposit. He kept me on the hook with samples and promises right up to the deadline, which to me looked like a deliberate effort to run out the clock so I wouldn't cancel. After he disappeared, I learned my experience wasn't unique. There are other negative reviews and Better Business Bureau complaints describing the same thing: a deposit taken and the work never done. Indiana court records are public on the state's MyCase site, and I'd encourage anyone considering this company to search the owner's name there and read the records for themselves before handing over any money. After what I discovered, I would not allow him to work at my home or be anywhere around my family and kids. Do your homework before you do any work with BriteView Landscaping. I wish I had.

As we sought bids for our new house ( for work that involved final grading, application of planting soil in the beds, mulching of the beds and install of sod) we experienced landscapers not bothering to respond, visiting our yard and not following up with a quote, quoting high etc. From my first contact with Ryan Neises, things went smoothly. I had originally left a message on their machine and Ryan called me back later that afternoon. He came out shortly thereafter for the site visit and promptly presented his quote. His crew was able to start a couple of days earlier than expected. I felt that the crew did a careful job. The job took 4 days, and at the end of each day, they cleaned up before they left for the day. Even my neighbor, who has high standards, commented on the care with which the work was done. I had made some last-minute changes/additions and Ryan just adjusted the bill accordingly. The extra costs seemed reasonable for the extra work done. Even afterwards, on two occasions, I emailed Ryan with some questions about care and got prompt informative answers. Overall, I am very happy about the level of professionalism, communication and quality of work and would have no trouble recommending Neises Lawn Care & Landscaping to anyone. After several weeks they were not looking good. I also had Norway Spruce planted with the Pears. I reached out to Bryan with Neises and he explained what was going on, what my options were, and even what the long term prognosis would be. Assuming is never good. Don't assume that buying from a garden center that they know what is best. I did tell the garden center where I wanted the trees and they were very nice and the trees looked great. I had no idea they were planted too close together. Obviously, they didn't either. I will continue to use Neises for all my future landscaping needs, as long as Bryan is there. Knowledge is Power!
