Given the high demand for tree removal service recently these past weeks, Briteview answered my request on Yelp within a few days of my request for service and took care of my storm broken large branches far above my reach. They squeezed me in their schedule albeit my request was lower priority compared to some of the other areas affected by the storm. They cleaned up and hauled away the debris as well. Do your homework before you hire BriteView Landscaping in Merrillville. I hired this company for a paver patio I needed finished before a Memorial Day family event. The owner, Miguel Angel Bustos-Hernandez, came out, gave me a quote, and asked for one-third down. He told me cash was best. I paid the deposit in cash, and he emailed me a receipt showing the cash paid and the balance due. He also charged me extra for a fast turnaround, and we agreed the work would be done before the holiday. As the date got closer, the story started changing. He asked me to buy the materials myself on my own card. I told him I had already paid for the materials with the deposit and would not be giving him any more money. He then asked me to take the cashier's check I had set aside for the final balance, meet him at the bank, and cash it so he could buy supplies. I told him again that I would not pay another dime until the job was complete, and that I would cancel if it wasn't done by Memorial Day. After that, he assured me it would be 100% complete on time. The next day, he came by with material samples, and we picked our pavers. The day after that, he said the pavers would arrive in a day or two and asked which side of the driveway to put them on. That was the last I ever heard from him. No pavers, no work, and no response to my calls, texts, voicemails, or emails. I am still trying to recover my deposit. He kept me on the hook with samples and promises right up to the deadline, which to me looked like a deliberate effort to run out the clock so I wouldn't cancel. After he disappeared, I learned my experience wasn't unique. There are other negative reviews and Better Business Bureau complaints describing the same thing: a deposit taken and the work never done. Indiana court records are public on the state's MyCase site, and I'd encourage anyone considering this company to search the owner's name there and read the records for themselves before handing over any money. After what I discovered, I would not allow him to work at my home or be anywhere around my family and kids. Do your homework before you do any work with BriteView Landscaping. Wouldn't suggest hiring BriteView Landscaping Co for interior cleaning. Showed up an hour late without a call. I had to call them to verify that they were still coming. I questioned them about interior cleaning since they were a landscaping company. Guy said wives do the cleaning. I was in a bind so thought I'd give them a chance. The crew consisted of an adult woman and two kids (maybe 11/12 and 14/15). The adult of the group did a very good job. Unfortunately, she did not check the kids work. I checked multiple areas and asked them to re-clean where needed. The man I spoke with instructed me to do so. I was originally quoted an addition $100 to clean the two car garage. There was nothing to clean except the ceiling fan and the windows on the garage door. I was told by the guy I scheduled with that they do not service those items in the garage. I requested the $100 be removed. I was charged an additional $10 because I had a garage even though they didn't clean. After the crew left, I checked a few more areas and found some work was not done. I took photos and texted my contact and asked if the crew could come back the next day. They did not respond. I recently posted about Miguel and his company BriteView Landscaping on Nextdoor . It was initially complimentary and now I can't say the same. I damaged the sprinkler line putting in a planter box for a small garden. There was a noticeable leak. Part of his job was to repair it. Prior to him leaving I asked if we needed to turn it on prior to him leaving, he said no. There was still a leak. They came back and fixed that. However, He had cut the electrical and fixed another leak at that time too. Now it took me another 2-3 weeks and I noticed my dogs paws were muddy all the time. I then hand dug where he fixed and it was leaking again. It has been extremely frustrating and disrespectful on his end. He is not returning calls or text messages. The guy he had come out was apparently from Rainmaker Irrigation probably on the side and not on company time. Thomas irrigation came out and fixed no problem. When I posted on Nextdoor, his posse came and harassed my wife and I calling us names. We left an honest review and he was upset with that. read more
