Overall, we had a great experience working with Tim at NW HomeWorks. From our initial consultation throughout the entirety of the project, Tim was very communicative and prompt. It is clear he has years of experience in kitchen remodels, and had a solution to virtually anything this project threw our way. Our project was more than a cosmetic job - it was studs-out. We took out two (non-structural) walls, removed layers of old flooring, added a large window while sealing off another, and did HVAC work with Tim - all in addition to what you'd expect a kitchen remodel to include. In total I think there was close to two tons of material removed from the house. Tim has a team of subcontractors who provide demolition, tiling, drywalling, electric, plumbing, and countertop installation services. We had positive experiences with most of the subcontractors - the electrician did have to come back several times to fix issues but they were all resolved. Tim was regularly on site to supervise the work of the subcontractors and always available by text/call. There were definitely a few bumps and unexpected surprises along the way (it happens with old houses!), but Tim handled everything with honesty and reassurance. We have worked with other contractors who become quickly defensive when errors are pointed out or last minute changes are made, but Tim was the opposite - he owned any issues that came up and was able to make adjustments along the way without any hassle. Tim is trustworthy, which goes a long way in a total kitchen gut and remodel. Tim was clear about payment deadlines and provided itemized invoices as the project progressed. He was transparent with any overages and was willing to talk though invoice details if needed. We found the prices to be very fair. Our project landed within 10% of the original estimate. The project was also completed on time - precisely to the timeline provided at the beginning of the project, which is an incredible feat. There were people working here every day (even sometimes on the weekend, which we agreed to) making sure the work was moving along. Tim also kept an open line of contact after the project was completed in case there were any small details that needed to be ironed out. We recommend NW HomeWorks with confidence. It should be noted that we did a "trial run" with NW HomeWorks in late 2020 where they helped us do a more cosmetic bathroom remodel which is why we chose to work with them for this much larger job. read more

Tim and his crew just finished our Home Remodel which included a Kitchen remodel and wiring and plumbing upgrades throughout the whole house. And I just want to first give shout out's to Michael and his apprentice for their excellent work with the wiring, Alex for his work on the plumbing, Vadim on demolition, Jeff on design, Eugene on Backsplash, and Vasily on cabinet install and everything else (I hope I am not forgetting anyone). Prior to starting this remodel, I heard many horror stories of budgets going over, and contractors trying to pull fast ones on their clients, so going into this, it was really important that we hired someone that we could trust. At the time, NW Homeworks had really great reviews on Houzz and Yelp, so this sort of helped provide us with the push we needed to go with them, with hopes that they would stay true to the reviews. And they definitely lived up to their promise. Although during the course of a 4 month remodel, there definitely were moments that had me nervous. Early on during the remodel, I believe their designer actually quit on them randomly, and Jeff (the other designer) had to pick up all of her work, keep in mind at this point we had already started the electrical work so we became really nervous about whether they would be able to follow through on the work statement. But Tim and his crew were able to allocate time to make sure they continued to make progress on whatever they could (electrical, plumbing, etc.) until they got their feet back under them. I also realized over time that text message was probably the better way to get in touch with them when needed. They are a very busy business, so understandably they are usually likely backed up on email. So a few quick words about what I loved about Tim's crew. They are basically a "get the job done" type of crew. And I loved it. Other contractors I have had in the past want to talk to you, and tell you all about what they know and don't know about everything and how much smarter they are than you when it comes to anything. This may sound silly, but these guys are nothing like that. WHICH I LOVE!!! The way they operate is just shut up, work, and get the job done, and I can't tell you what a breath of fresh air that was. Now thats not to say they won't ask questions. They basically gather only the information they need from you to get the job done, and then they EXECUTE. And for that alone, I cannot praise them enough. So in short, I would recommend them to anyone. We are very happy with our new house. I still can't believe how different it looks. We are very blessed and thankful to have had Tim and his crew work on our house, and we can only wish them continued success in the future! read more

Impossible to get a quote: "We do estimates on certain days and unfortunately we are booked pretty solid." was what I was told. They gave me 2 dates for availability over the next month and both in the same day of the week in the same time frame. I have a 4 hour window every week where I am unavailable. Unfortunately, during that 4 hour window is the only time that NW HomeWorks can get an estimator to Des Moines. We hired Tim for a $100K plus job - kitchen, baths, etc. Unfortunately the saying you get what you pay for is true. We should have listened to our interior designer who warned us that he was non-responsive to other clients and his attention to detail was slipping, and that we should go in a different direction. His price was too compelling and boy should we have listened. The only reason our house isn't torn up and in a state of half done work two years later is because I contacted subs on my own and acted as GC on the project. Tim lied ***over and over*** again. He didn't pay subs who showed up at my door asking for his address. He then showed up for our final punch list walk through, acted like he would finish the job in a couple weeks, and then ghosted us. No response to 30 calls, 50 texts, etc. He can't run a business. He has subs who aren't being paid and don't care about finishing your job. Seriously pay up and go with ANYONE else. Tim, the owner, gave a solid quote and quickly pointed out any parts needed to improve my design. Installation was performed quickly and thoroughly. Whatever you do, DO NOT HIRE this company. Tim is a liar and a cheat. We hired him for an extensive basement remodel. His plumber and and electrical subs were not licensed and had multiple State of Washington Builder's Board liens and fines against them. Tim and team went days and weeks without responding and performing work. Tim held us hostage on our project by tearing up the basement and then refusing to do any work unless we paid him even more. We fired him June 10, 2020 and lost over $28,000. read more

Tim and the rest of the crew at NW HomeWorks just finished up a great job on my kitchen remodel! From start to finish, they communicated well and listened to all my questions. During the planning phase, Tim was flexible with a couple rounds of back and forth till we landed on the right set of work and the right price. The crew was super conscious of time and more or less limited worked while I was out. They cleaned up after themselves pretty well, and didn't leave the place too dusty. The last 10% of effort is where things started coming together. They were very responsive during that period and nailed all the details. I found NW HomeWorks via google search, after Ikea's go-to installers were unresponsive and overpriced. The reviews for this outfit were great, and for good reason. These guys do very good work. Alex, Ivan, and Ivan's dad installed my cabinets and cupboards in less than two days, in a 1922 craftsman home with lathe and plaster walls, and they did a fabulous job. They were very professional and clean, very respectful, and hard working. I love the end result. Everything is solid and straight. In fact, when the countertop guy came in to make the template, he commented that whoever installed my cabinets did a fabulous job. Also, Alex had some design suggestions (e.g., where to install the handles) that added to the streamlined look. Only issue is Tim went on vacation when I first inquired so didn't get an immediate response, but we were conversing during the holidays so that is understandable. He was still able to fit me in prior to New Years. read more

#1 My partner and I bought a small two bedroom ONE bath house and hired NW HomeWorks to help us tile our shower and floor. The job was projected to take one week, but took three weeks and required three extra visits to address a number of things. Midway through the tiling project the tilers stopped coming to work, and when we tried to reach Tim we were told that he was on vacation and no one there was able to access his schedule or coordinate any work. #2 During the initial quote Tim suggested we replace the flange. We happily agreed, but the plumber later said it was unnecessary. However, once the bathroom was "finished" we discovered a three inch long gash in the plumbing and had to wait two days for it to be addressed. #3 In addition to the flange we had to ask the plumber to come back twice to properly install the facet on the shower. At this point Tim conceded that his employe was experienced and qualified to do the work, but that they had a big construction project at a difference site and were "rushing" the job on our house. #4 It has now been almost exactly 6 months since the tiling job was completed, and the grout between the mosaic tiles on the floor is quite literally crumbling. We called Tim who took two weeks to send someone out - and didn't so much as bother to call or email to inform us of when they would stop by. His employees did not address the problem but wanted to put silicone over the crumbling grout. When we called Tim to talk about our disatisfaction with addressing the problem, Tim's response was that floor joists can't support the weight of the tiles - which as a contractor he certainly ought to have known beforehand. Tim say's he's more than willing to strengthen our joists for a few hundred dollars, but at this point I'm ready to find someone more professional to do the job - even if it's a little more costly. I will not hire NW Homeworks again and would caution others against it as well. read more

We had Tim come out to our place to go over our kitchen remodeling project, take measurements & pictures of the kitchen and then he was suppose to follow up with us with an estimate. We never heard back from him since then. We attempted to reach out to him on several occasion without any luck...He didn't even have the decency to at least ack back or even say he's too busy.... He did the same thing to a friend of mine as well ....I assume this is a pattern with him. The way you treat a person will come back to you one way or another. read more

Tasks included: building IKEA cabinets, install of all upper and lower cabinets, all appliances installed, custom counter top and sink install and complicated RO water filtration set up. Tim and his crew were fantastic. They immediately fit into our very tight deadline, were on-time, on budget, and beyond exceptional in service. We had been working with a general contractor for our office build out, but he wouldn't touch IKEA, and Tim's capabilities were perfect for our needs. NW Homeworks was also a breath of fresh air to work with: competent, clear, communicative and straight forward. Our job had a clean, elegant, and sophisticated sensibility to it--one that not every contractor would be able to dovetail into--Tim and his crew were outstanding at all of the high end details and executing our aesthetic. We contracted Tim and his team at NW HomeWorks to do a bit of renovation (removal of a few things, patching sheetrock, etc.) and install an Ikea kitchen. From the beginning, Tim was a great communicator - he came to our house in Seattle to provide us with a quote very quickly, gave us great feedback on our Ikea kitchen design, provided a very competitive bid, and started our project promptly. His team and subcontractors were excellent every step of the way in terms of quality, professionalism, adherence to schedule and budget, and Tim was a great leader and communicator throughout the process. We've worked with contractors before and have never found the combination of attention to schedule and budget, communication, and quality that we got with NW HomeWorks. We had these guys do some light framing, drywall and install an IKEA kitchen (including a tile back splash) and they did a great job. Tim, the owner of NW HomeWorks, is easy to work with and very hands on and available to answer any questions. His crew is professional and very good at what they do - we were also impressed with how clean they work. I would highly recommend these guys. Tim even hooked us up with Granite & Marble Specialties (425-282-6323) who installed quartz counter tops for us and they look great. Tim at Northwest Homeworks is not to be trusted. My husband and I saved our money for years to finally remodel our Bellevue kitchen and laundry room. To this day, has never finished our kitchen and remaining work items. We have been calling him for 6 months, with absolutely zero follow up. If we did catch him on the phone, he lied about calling us back that next week and never did. Mark who answers Tim's mainline also has not been responsive, nor did he do anything about the fact that we paid Tim in full in September of 2016, as we trusted him to finish the laundry room cabinetry, tile work, and finishing touches. Aside from how disheartening it is to have our dream kitchen remodel, turn into an unfinished nightmare, his crew that did our flooring did a poor quality job. The wood is cracked and uneven, and here we remain with no responses. We are honest paying customers. We hired NW Homeworks to do an entire kitchen remodel and enlarge our living room space to create an opened great room concept. From the onset, Tim was very responsive and provided a solid quote with line item details, which was much more competitive than other bids we had received. From day one, his entire crew (particularly the lead that he assigned to us) were prompt, hardworking, courteous, paid high attention to detail and cleaned up after themselves daily. We found their workmanship to be solid and were so amazed at how quickly and efficiently they completed everything. So much so that we added additional scope of relative size mid-construction, which they were able to easily incorporate within original construction timeframe at reasonable costs. Based on other friends' remodeling experiences (and nightmares), I think one of the hallmarks of a good contractor is not only quality, but also timeliness and knowing that your contractor will come when they say they will, and working continuously to get the job done versus juggling multiple projects and putting in a few hours here and there. While friends continually warned us that all remodel projects run over-schedule and over-budget with many contractor issues in between, our experience with NW Homeworks was the BEST contractor experience that we could have hoped for. Hard to reach via phone - dialed several times in different days during working hour then finally got through. Scheduled an appointment and Tim came to our house and checked. He gave us some suggestions on how the project can be done - and that's the only thing positive. Since then, they were very unresponsive. Every time we sent an Email, we had to wait a week or so without getting any response and ask again, then another one or two days before get response. When I'm checking those Emails I found almost every one starts with "Sorry for the late response." When he did reply, he avoided talking about some very basic questions we asked like when the project can get started. Despite that we have asked several times, the last response from him was from two weeks ago, since when we've never heard from him. We have to quit waiting because that could be a sign of their efficiency of getting anything done. We have wasted more than a month without making any progress. Tim was very responsive right off the bat, scheduled a time to come out and measure and photograph my room (laundry/bath) and said he'd get it into the computer and be in touch . . . and that was the last I heard. I was excited about the project, but it's been months now of unanswered calls and e-mails. He said they were very busy (which is great--I'm happy to see a small local business do well), and they may've gotten overwhelmed, but I wish I'd been told "sorry, we can't help you" so I could've moved on to other plans sooner. They are 4 months into our project and so far have done about one week worth of work. Tim is the WORST and doesnt respect his customers.
