I have to write this update because being fair is important. It is based on the "seller side"…read moresettlement completed yesterday at the Leesburg office. Yesterdays settlement, handled by Michael Bradford (the villain in my earlier post), went very smoothly. There were no problems. Leading up to the closing, Champion did not reach out to me as most companies do to gather seller side information, they only sent the info directly to the sellers. Maybe this is because of my earlier review. Anytime I emailed or called I got a polite answer that indicated all was being handled well but they did not reach out to me which most title companies do. THAT is why I gave this review a 2 stars instead of 3. Otherwise, it would have been 3. You might wonder why I would take my clients there after the prior experience. Well, in VA, buyers have the right to choose their title companies, and the BUYER chose Champion Title. My side was the seller side. We could have done split settlements, but the sellers side is quick and easy and relatively cheap, so why? Now you might wonder why the buyer choose them. The truth is, I can't be sure since I was on the other side of the transaction. However, I do know that the buyer's agent was with Keller Williams, and that KW and Champion have an affiliation that provides a financial benefit to both the brokerage and often to the agent for referring business in their direction. So while I don't know in this case why the buyer selected this title company, there's at least a chance that their agent recommended them in exchange for a few extra bucks.

This is the most disorganized company I've ever dealt with. The morning of my closing the agent…read morearrived half an hour late and apologized that no one told him about the closing until that morning. When we began the closing document was riddled with errors (some of which would have shorted me $12,000) when we finally got the documents corrected it still took us much longer than any other real estate transaction I've ever taken part in. Virginia law says we are required to be paid out within 48 hours of closing, I'm currently 48 hours out and have yet to receive my funds, on top of that when I've called in I've been transferred around excessively until I reach a voicemail of a woman who is currently on vacation. I would never recommend this firm for a closing.

Ming and Stanley truly went above and beyond when it came to service and we're even friends outside the business now. They were able to find me a plan that best served my situation (which was one with bad credit) and found a great rate. It was ridiculous. I'm truly blessed to have found them because they're actually on your side. I was so confused about how to buy a house and all that jazz, but they were able to explain it to me and tell my best options. I went to open up an account the other day at a bank that I shall not name, and you could just tell that you were another number in the quota that they had to fill. You don't feel like that at United Mortgage Plus. They care about you, and isn't that what customer service is about? If you're looking to buy a house, or want to explore your other options, you honestly can't wrong with Ming and Stanley. They're so friendly and know their stuff. Truly blessed to have found them. I have rented with Menkis for several years, since my previous management company owner retired…read more I was kind of surprised to see a low rating, as I've found Sid and the rest of the MRE team to be incredibly responsive and dedicated. They're perhaps a bit understaffed, which means things do sometimes slip through, but that's an exception, not a rule. Let me tell you a story which I think illustrates how seriously these guys take their duties: My dishwasher needed replaced. A new one was ordered. The contractor called and got it all setup, delivery, install, removal of the old one, scheduled for Saturday. Well... the delivery guys get here and tell me they don't do any of the other stuff. Just drop it off. And the guy who does installs is on vacation or some nonsense. This is the dishwasher company, a large installer and supplier -- not Menkis. Well, I was fairly annoyed, and I left a message with Sid letting him know what happened. I honestly didn't expect anything else to happen.... A few hours later, Sid and his father in law, a retired plumber, are at my house getting this thing installed and dealing with the weird flooring, cabinets, etc. I don't expect that level for most stuff, but that is above and beyond. And, at the end of the day, it was for a dishwasher -- an annoyance to not have, sure. But... it wouldn't have been the end all.
