I'm always shopping for cheese, so it's hard not to notice that the deli is a hit-or-miss depending on what time of day you're shopping. In the morning, there seems to be a few employees with good hustle -- and still manage to stay perky and pleasant. They really take "whistle while you work" quite literally. One young man really shows off his vast knowledge of meat and additives when he's available, and he never fails to asks if I need help finding anything. I see him doing the same for others as well, and I appreciate his good energy. In the afternoon, some days are better than others, but the employees are more often a sad sight, and management is clearly lacking. I usually come in the afternoon, and there's often this unkempt Latina lady at the counter who's pretty rude to waiting customers, throws objects, and picks up items she drops onto the floor before touching the food she's preparing. I sometimes like a sandwich because the $4.99 price is a steal in this day and age -- but never when she's working. Her supervisor seems more concerned with talking trash about her coworkers while giving customers the evil eye, and less concerned with running her team. That said, I assume with this management, little is bound to change. If you're not going to fire these people, then maybe consider making them shopping cart attendants or something instead? This company seems to have peaked during the first 2 quarters of 2025, and I don't think it's going to be synonymous with quality. Sad sight... but good cheese! For your next charcuterie board, I recommend getting the rolled LaClare blueberry vanilla goat cheese and topping it with some blueberry preserves and any of the sweetest blueberries they have in stock.
