    I've had the pleasure of experiencing incredible cuisine in cities like New York, Atlanta, Chicago, and Los Angeles, but I often find myself disappointed by restaurant options here in the Bay Area. I'm a horrible cook, but I was almost desperate enough to cook for Valentine's Day--until I discovered NutriGastro and their private chef services. Chef Hakeem was punctual, personable, and engaging in conversation, but most importantly, the food was absolutely phenomenal. He completely exceeded both my and my partner's expectations, making our evening truly special. I'll 100% be hiring them again for future occasions. A huge thank you to Chef Hakeem and the entire NutriGastro team!

    Erika, Chefs Hakeem and Lei, and Kristell delivered outstanding service for our company's special celebration. They went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect. They put great effort into making the presentation beautiful and satisfying even to the most discerning palates. We chose mostly the Asian menu, and everything was spot on, including the desserts (we had a lot of lovely comments from the attendants) They were punctual, incredibly kind, and paid attention to every detail. Despite my many questions and numerous changes (I'm not the easiest client!), they were accommodating and adapted to whatever we needed. I especially appreciated Erika's approach when she said, "Just tell me what you need, and we'll make it happen." We will definitely rely on them for our future events and highly recommend their service if you want a seamless and reliable catering experience. Thank you guys so much!

    I used Nutrigastro catering services for my mom's 80th birthday. They were so easy to communicate with and their responses were very prompt. The food was delicious and guests complimented on how good the food was. I ordered food for 40 guests and the food was plentiful. They even made a beautiful menu for me that went perfectly with the theme. Would most definitely use them again! Thank you Chef Lei and Ericka Lopez!

    NutriGastro came and saved the day when we had an issue with another catering company. We needed a catering company quickly for our nonprofit's anniversary gala. Ericka Lopez was an absolute pleasure to work with from the beginning to the end with a great communication and professionalism and went beyond to meet our budget and needs. She even created a beautiful menu to go with our theme and colors, which was way more than what I had expected! They came on time and set up the buffet tables beautifully. The Dishes prepared by her and Chef Lei were delicious, the charcuterie boards were beautiful, and the amount was very generous for many of our guests to enjoy the seconds. I'm recommending them to everyone I know!

    Chef Hak and team exceeded my expectations and made my birthday very special. First off, Chef responded to my Yelp inquiry within minutes and helped me put together a perfect 3 course menu for 20 with such ease. I selected items that were on his sample menus. Chef made it seamless and low stress the day of the event by keeping in touch and taking care of bringing all groceries up to Napa, cooking items and also doing an impeccable job of cleaning the kitchen afterward. The beef dish was very tender and perfectly medium rare, the chicken was so wonderful -- browned on the outside and very moist and flavorful inside, the vegetables and truffled rice were beautifully prepared. I am already finding ways to invite Chef Hak in to cook for us. He's a pro and his teammate Lei was excellent as well. Kudos to Nutrigastro!

    We loved Chef Hakeem and his crew! We had Nutrigastro cater my wife's 50th birthday party at our home. We had 60 guests and opted for hors d'oeuvres via a passed service. The food was delicious and out-of-the-ordinary. The black bass crudo had just the right amount of heat, the tempura rock shrimp was great, as were the gougeres and just-like-meat tangy jackfruit sliders. Servers were friendly and attentive. Highly recommend!

    Chef Hakeem and his team did an incredible job serving at my private event. He was super thoughtful, prompt and communicative. He provided options for all types of food restrictions on the premise and left all guest delightfully full and happy. His braised short rib was heavenly not to mention their fresh food ingredients that were locally sourced.     Nutrigastro catered our Grand Opening in Capitola, CA this past December 17th. It took me a bit to post this review as I was gathering feedback from over 50 guests as well as our associates and their families regarding their experience with the service and the food. What you should know is that our original caterer cancelled just 5 days before our event. I looked for local caterers and the ones who responded to my request for help, while really nice, were charging quite a bit more than what our budget allowed. Then I got a message from Raven from Nutrigastro. She was not just fast in responding but we had a conversation not long after we connected via Yelp. I expressed my concern over the situation we were in, and also shared our limited budget concern. What happened afterwards was not just shocking, but so moving I cried. Raven shared her family's story, their beginnings, and how it was a family business just like mine. She empathized, was kind, and reassured me they would take care of us and our event to the best of their abilities and capacity. She/they went above and beyond my expectations and our team's expectations. When I got the quote with the food that was going to be provided, that is when I truy saw what she meant when she said she would take care of us. The cost for the food was a fraction of what they usually charge, and they made the arrangements to drive from San Francisco to Santa Cruz right away. She kept in touch as well as her wife, Simphany, about the details and even added a few extra things to help us with saving on cost. They took the tremendous stress I was feeling and turned it into me having peace over the catering so I could focus on other equally important things. That was priceless. As I write this review I am getting teary-eyed. Raven, Simphay, and Nutrigastro saved the day! At our Grand Opening I got to meet one of their chefs, Hakeem, and it was the same world-class experience I had had with Raven and Simphany. Hakeem was kind, helpful, friendly to our guests, and went above and beyond to make sure everyone had something to eat. At the end of our event, he even gifted me a box with very beautifully packaged baked goods from one his friend's businesses. He wrote a personal note to me and that was just so special. I could not be more grateful and overwhelmed with the way Nutrigastro, Raven, Simphany, and Hakeem took care of me, my family, my business needs, and our guests. They are simply fabulous and just really good people! I would give them 100 stars if that was an option. I pray that God continues to use them and their catering company to serve people like me, and that whoever is reading this will them a chance to cater their event and see what I saw and experienced - nothing but people representing a family-owned company dedicated to making their clients happy! I am forever grateful to Nutrigastro for what they did so I could have a successful Grand Opening!

It was clear from early on she was knowledgeable in her trade and had great questions and tools to help guide us along. We wanted to do an Italian dinner for my dad's 70th birthday, and Italian showed up as one of Sweet Melissa's specialities when searching on Yelp-score! She provided me a sample menu with many delicious sounding options, but also was willing to customize to my dad's favorites. I host parties a lot and you sometimes don't really get to enjoy the event as you are working to get everything ready for your guests. Hiring Melissa allowed us to just enjoy the celebration. All we had to do was clear some space for her to work and she did the rest. She arrived about an hour and a half before the event to do her prep. She was as lovely as could be as was her assistant. The food courses were nicely timed with our three appetizers of brie and pear crostini, shrimp scampi bites, and caprese skewers ready as guests arrived and socialized. All three were delicious, but glad I listened to her recommendation on the crostini as it was so good. Everyone commented on how amazing the house smelled as they arrived. It was also fun watching her work in your house and getting freshly made food! Next was the big buffet of Caesar salad, pesto and tomato basil sauces pastas, roasted brussel sprouts with pancetta, chicken parmigiana, and Italian sausages in a balsamic reduction. The spread was beautifully presented and tasted amazing. There was plenty of food for all and I got such amazing feedback from our guests on how everything tasted. We shopped around for anything from catering to personal chefs specializing in Italian food, and decided a private dinner made fresh in house was just the ticket. Melissa was very responsive via email, and indicated that Italian is one of her specialties. She worked with us to create a menu Dad would love, blending her own suggestions with a couple of special requests from us. On the day, Melissa and her staff arrived on time and got right to work preparing everything in our kitchen with a little help from her own tools. Throughout the event, she kept the space clean, the food line filled, and even did some bussing at the dinner table. She was exceptionally personable with us and the guests, and when she left, there was absolutely zero work for us to do. She cleaned everything, packed up all leftovers and stocked our fridge, and took out all trash. As far as the taste of the food, absolutely no complaints on this end! We had appetizers of shrimp scampi and caprese skewers while everyone arrived, and then flowed into a buffet style dinner. We opted for a ready-dressed Caesar salad, and her homemade dressing was spot on. For dinner, the highlight for dad was the chicken parm. Everyone had a wonderfully breaded chicken cutlet, adorned with fresh mozzarella and topped with a very tasty marinara. This along with her delicious take on Italian sausage in a reduced wine, grape, and balsamic sauce were amazing proteins. Pasta was plentiful as an accompaniment, both a fusilli pesto and papardelle noodles in marinara. For some veggies, she did a wonderful roast brussel sprouts with pancetta and balsamic. We had cake and ice cream for dessert, but I have no doubt if we'd asked her to do that, it would have been amazing too. Chef ken was also very helpful in helping us pick out the dish wear and arranged all of the rental dishware which made the process easy. The only problems we had with Chef Ken was that he can often be non-responsive and difficult to get in touch with through email. He's definitely busy and has multiple private events going on but at times we had to really hunt him down. It was difficult also because his secretary went on vacation around the time of the wedding so I think he was managing everything on his own. Also, I would also get everything written in bullet points for Chef Ken as he's definitely busy and it's easy for him to forget things we agreed on such as quantity of amount of certain dishes, rental numbers, types of food we ordered, deduction of the initial taste testing, etc. Small things but it changes the overall invoice and required a bunch of redoing of the invoices. He also said he would help us come up with a custom drink menu for our wedding which we ended up scrambling at the end to make our own menu. The staff he hired was solid and exceptional. The bartenders were awesome and fun. The food including the entrees, dessert and appetizers were amazing and it was unanimous from the guests that the food at our wedding was by far the best from any other wedding they've been to. All of my long-term health issues were under control and all the bloodwork was in target ranges. And I had lost 20 pounds. Chef Savvy's food was a huge part of that. But after having a truly stellar meal with Chef Stephen, I can wholeheartedly recommend Pocket Chefs! Here's how it works: the chefs can make 3 dishes that comprise about 4-6 servings and you provide the recipes and ingredients. Free consultation included (a couple of quick 5-minute phone convos). If you really have no idea what to have made, you can pay to have a more in-depth consultation where they craft custom meal plans for you. Although these services are ideal for meal prep for a busy week, we had Chef Stephen cook for a small dinner party of 4 and it was a hit (we also had a weekend full of leftovers which was perfect). We requested Thai food (pad kee mao aka drunken noodles with chicken, pad kra pao aka Thai basil eggplant with ground pork, and som tam aka papaya salad) and he delivered! The recipes weren't followed 100% but it was all good and the result was for some very tasty food. What was great was that the hot dishes reheated nicely too (my husband thought they even tasted better the second day)! Finally, we appreciated how clean Chef Stephen was and that all used dishes and utensils were placed neatly in the dishwasher. All and all, I would say this is a really great and efficient service, especially for folks with diet restrictions and/or who want to eat more healthily but who also want more control in terms of what they eat (hence my hesitation about subscribing to food delivery services as what if the flavors that week don't match my cravings?!). I think PocketChefs would also make an incredible gift for a new mom as well as if you're hosting a small party and would like some meals prepped!

We came up with three separate entrees that I could portion out and easily eat throughout the busy week. So while my children were consuming their carb focused meals, I didn't have to go hungry or feel guilty for eating their food as I was able to defrost and eat a delicious Whole30 prepared meal.
