Did some browsing here, and I hesitate to say this (because I assume there are Yelpers out there who are as immature as I am,) I really love nuts. They're filling, easy to carry around and taste good (again, something I hesitate to write.) The Nutbox has a wide selection of nuts as well as bulk items to make your own mixes. They're reasonably priced, even factoring in the location where the shop is in. I decided not to buy anything though because the youngster 'working' the store was too busy to greet us, too busy to ask if we were finding everything all right or needed help or too busy to say goodbye as we walked out. I love these nutz in my mouth! Yeah, so they sell nuts and dried fruits here. What else can I say that already hasn't been said? Plenty! So put your nuts in your sac and listen up. First, the trail mix bags are sugarless there is no extra need to add any junky stuff. So I see all the raw nuts and I spy in the corner of my little eye a Spanish nut called Marcona Almonds. Now this nut is a class above other almonds.These almonds are called the Queen" of almonds and are first roasted in olive oil then sprinkled with sea salt. This is a score based on price. Sometimes I enjoy eating big outside; while other times I prefer to stay at home, eating nuts as dinner. I have been searching for good dry fruit places all the time to feed my hunger in that perspective. First time I tried Nutbox was from my friend, who kept telling me how tasty the nuts were - I agreed, so I am back. My top choices among nuts were always - almond and pistachio. Due to healthy consideration, I always opted for roasted, yet unsalted ones. Glad that Nutbox has different options, roasted and unroasted, salted or not, perfect for me. Aside from this one, located just inside Chelsea market; there is another one conveniently located inside Turnstyle, the new food court inside Columbus Circle subway station. I can't remember the last time in the past 5 years I wasn't on a self-proclaimed "diet," but this is the first time I'm taking it seriously. So I decided to get some healthy stuff to snack on. Pros: -You'll get a good deal, especially on the nuts. I stopped at about 3 other places that were twice as expensive. 1 pound bag of dry roasted almonds was $7. - Great selection & quality. They have 10 different types of almonds alone, so there's a good chance you'll find what you're looking for. I highly recommend the dried Turkish apricots, they're delish. Cons: -The cashier woman wasn't helpful or friendly. I was the only one there, so I assumed she would ask to help me, but instead she just sat there filing her nails. IF you were fooled by their name from the get go!! i probably should have gotten the nuts .. since the name implies that might be their specialty... BUT i was in the mood for nice chewy dried fruits.. so i opted for the dried papaya chunks instead.. This is a great place to grab snacks on the go. I normally grab the trail mix and head up to the Highline. The prices are very reasonable. I saw a review that said that said it was "Outrageously Expensive". I don't think $4 for a big bag of Wasabi Peas is expensive. Have you been to Food Emporium? They have a great selection of nuts, peas, dried fruit and trail mix. This location is pretty small compared to the one in Greenwich Village, but it still has everything you need. read more

Don't bother to order from here. It may not arrive. My order did not. I paid extra to receive my order within 3 days, as it was a family gift for the holidays. It didn't arrive. I called the local store, the only number I could find. They made a small effort to be helpful but then did not return my follow-up call. I gave it an extra 2 days before calling a number that the store had initially given me (no one answered the first 2 times i called; good luck finding a HQ number yourself). They said my order somehow never shipped and apologized. They said they'd ship it overnight (on Christmas Eve), and that it would arrive 2 days after Christmas. It did not. The Christmas gift that should have arrived 4 days before Christmas never materialized. I had no gift for a relative. I'm furious - and urge you to look elsewhere, this place is truly awful. read more

Think twice before ordering online from Nutbox because its fulfillment center's under new management which is incompetent. I've been ordering from Nutbox for more than five years, but my most recent order was missing the dried California Mission Figs and the company will not make good on the discrepancy. There's no customer service phone number on the packing slip, and non on the website which is very telling (they have no interest in providing "customer service"). I emailed them using the support contact email address days ago, and have not heard back from them. I called my local store front of Nutbox, and they don't have any customer service contact phone number either! Holy cow, this company will simply take your money and send you whatever they want to via online processing apparently. Good luck if you decide to order, but my advice is to pass and order from another website company. read more

Lovely little shop, selling all kinds of dried fruit, nuts, and spices. The selection is good and the merchadise doesn't appear to be sitting on the shelves for very long. You can make your own trail mix here for about $6 a pound, which is 1/2 the price you can get it at a bodega and 2/3 the price of Trader Joes, Whole Foods, Garden of Eden, etc...That alone is reason to trek over to Chelsea Market. When you make your own trail mix, peanuts can be exempt and almonds get maximized - raw, dry roasted, salted, booya. I also buy a pound of wasabi peas for $3, another deal of the day. read more

I like their products but they have poor customer service. I've been trying to get in touch with customer service for a week but no one returns calls or responds to my emails. There was an item left out of my shipment but nutbox.com does not care enough about their customers to correct the discrepancy. This is a great way to ruin a business. I went to the original one on Smith Street in Brooklyn, a bigger space but this little shop in Chelsea Market is packed with the goodies. This time around, ended up buying the butter-toffee cashews, annoyingly addictive! I like this shop mainly for the coated nuts; the veggie chips are real good and their dried fruits don't have that heavy sulfate preservative taste I've found some other places to have. My fiance is addicted to this nuts and dried fruit specialty shop. His favorites are the jalapeno pistachios and the chili-lime pistachios. Plus: they always have tasty samples when we go (usually Saturdays). i love this place. already been to this and the other location on 8th three times. five stars for: yogurt raisins, yogurt pretzels (salty and sweet combo = awesome.), corn nuts, heart healthy nut mix, sheer variety of goodies that'll take me the whole summer to explore four stars for: pistachio baklava - not enough of a pistachio flavor imo, and a little bit too sweet. but texture is PERFECT. flaky top layers, soft syrupy bottom layers. also, not sure about the 8th street location, but the make your own trail mix nuts tend to be a little stale compared to the prepackaged mixes. three stars for: honey nut granola. good flavor (i like the extra nuttiness the sunflower seeds bring), but the texture is all wrong. i like crunchy granola. this is more..chewy? i want to give them the benefit of the doubt and say it's intentional and not just stale. read more

Worst customer service. Beware if you order online. Ordered three items (walnuts and organic walnuts). Shipping was very slow, but that wasn't the problem. Both packages of organic walnuts arrived with a rancid appearance, odor and taste. I immediately sent an email to customer service; never got a reply. Repeated the email one week later; no reply. Customer service phone number not provided, but I did some online sleuthing and found a phone number. Both of my calls went directly to voicemail. I have never received a response. Buyer beware. They may have had their 'start' in NYC but their production is not here. I bought apple rings and didn't realize until I got home they were produced in a facility in China. The order I placed two weeks ago finally arrived today. 8 phone calls, and a lot of polite excuses, were exchanged, but the order has indeed arrived, and with a bunch of extras as compensation for the hassle. I love Nutbox products, I'm happy that there was a conciliatory gesture made on their part, and the people I actually spoke with and have met in the stores are wonderful. The Nut Box is a great find. Fantastic selection, and really reasonable prices. I have never been disappointed in anything I have purchased here, and I now order their products on line when I can't get to NYC. Everything is always fresh and they have a big slection of trail mix type product and snacks. I also like their granolas--a great topping for yogurt in the morning. This latest outpost of The Nut Box just opened November 1 and like its Brooklyn location, it sells a variety of dried fruits, vegetables and nuts. There is also a spice shop adjacent called (I think) The Spice Box. Stop in for the usual almonds and trailmixes as well as more unusual items like nut butters, goji berries, dried green beans, vegetable chips and a couple of varieties of dried figs. I do a lot of baking and have bought pecans from many sources. The Nut Box pecans looked absolutely beautiful, but were very bitter because of pecan shell dust. I threw them away. The processing plant used by Nut Box obviously doesn't blow or wash the pecans adequately after shelling. I was looking forward to having a good neighborhood source for nuts. I hope this company will find a better processing option so that I can support this local business. read more
