What a great experience! The waterproofing company we used broke a few pipes and did something bizarre to the water pressure. We contacted American Home Shield and they assigned us to Nussbaumer plumbing. We were able to get an appointment in 3 business days which was wonderful, because the broken pipes were affecting our ability to do laundry. The plumbers came and fixed it all so easily. No headaches, no beating around the bush, no trying to tell me that AHS didn't cover it, or trying to upsell me on anything - just professional, friendly and competent. Took forever to come, impossible to speak to anyone there (left at least 6 voice mails), HSA also sucks and wont change provider, They said I needed a new toilet tank, then took almost a week, came back WITHOUT a tank. Have had nothing but bad experiences with this company. They are the default plumbing contractor for American Home Shield warranty in my area. At the end of 2025, the drain in my laundry room backed up so I called AHS. Because it was New Year's week, it took a week before they were able to come and look at it. They said they needed to get a camera down the drain and AHS won't pay for it so it was going to be somewhere in the area of $509 and then they expected they'd have to dig up my driveway at a cot if $5-$6K. I called my water line warranty company fit a second opinion. The plumber they sent (wish I could remember the name) located the clog inside the house without a camera and unclogged it. Cost me the $50 warranty copay. Have had no issues since. Last week I called AHS about the garbage disposal leaking and, of course they sent Nussbaumer. Their employee said that the pipes under the sink weren't up to code and they would need to break through the wall and install new piping. AHS said they don't cover code issues and it would cost $1100 to fix it. I told them no, forget it. Then the employee said they could cap off the disposal for $385 but they don't work with electric. Right off the bat it took them 4 days to get to my house. Then they arrived and told me oh ya your hot water tank is shot. We'll be back in 4 more days. This all happened after I had told them my laundry room was drenched from the leaking tank. So I asked if distance was an issue and the repairer said oh no we're in Pittsburgh area every day. So I asked why couldn't someone stop in and diagnose my issue saving lots of time and damage to my floor? He basically answered it doesn't work that way with their schedules. Have a warranty With HSA to replace a hot water tank. Nussbaumer Came out. First they tried to tell me I may need a pressure control valve. They disconnected a hose at my stationary tub and broke the fitting but never told me. Then they said I needed to pay and extra $650 for labor and an overflow tank to bring it up to code. I checked with the code officer and he said it was not needed. They are just trying to upcharge you for non required work. SCAMMERS!!! Said they usually charge $2000- $3000 to replace water tanks. I got it replaced for $1000 which included a credit I got from HSA. When I complained they were insulted by my language, but I was more insulted by the way they treated me. This company is completely useless, and honestly from all appearances, is scamming both customers and warranty companies. We would rather go without running water or sewers than to have this company come back to our home. We had a problem with our water heater shortly after buying our house. The warranty company sent Nussbaumer Plumbing out. The first thing they did was charge us directly (cash only, hmmm?) for a diagnostic which was supposed to be covered by the warranty company. They documented the problem and said they would send the report in to the warranty company and we would be notified when it was approved. Two weeks later we reached out to the warranty company and they said they were still waiting on the report. Another week went by and nothing. We reached out to both companies and neither would give any straight answers. After yet another week we gave up and called a local plumbing company to come fix it, out of our pocket. read more

Pipes started singing after new water heater was installed every time I flush a toilet or turn on a faucet, they came back to check a week later & of course, noise didn't happen while they were there, but it started up again that evening after their departure & has been making the noise ever since. Looking at this page because of your home warranty? I'll let the difference in estimates between two companies speak for me. We had a dry pipe leak in the basement. Nussbaumer plumbing came out, barely spoke to me or looked at the issue, tried to tell me it would take two people 3-4 hours to repair and require a minimum of $1192 to fix out of pocket. Couldn't show me the actual breakdown but tried to get me to sign off on it. I'd later see they had another TBD charge I can only guess how much more they would have tacked on. Seeing reviews here and on Google we decided to get a second opinion and were sent to another plumbing company. The other plumber carefully reviewed and found he could repair it by himself and without requiring out of pocket costs. He finished the job as promised the next day by himself in under two hours. So my advice is to go elsewhere or get a second opinion if your warranty tries to require you to use this company. Don't bother wasting your time and just hire someone else. They were not quality or knowledgeable about what they were contacted to fix. The only thing they were interested in were filling out more work orders to collect more service fees. The showed up 10 minutes before the 5 hour window had ended and genuinely could not be bothered. NUSSBAUMER PLUMBING IS RIPPING ME OFF REPEATEDLY. Their plumbers are INCOMPETENT SWINDLERS AND SLACKERS. 1) Problem- bathroom faucet leaking at base. Nussbaumer- replaced faucet, removed pop up drain, did not install a new pop up drain. Now I just have a drain that I use a rubber stopper on. There is a hole in my sink where a pop-up stop belongs. I can't even try to reinstall my old one because they took it with them!!! 2) Problem- overflowing floor drain in basement. It needed to be unclogged with a drain snake. Nussbaumer- lazy plumber simply used an electric plunger, dumped a bucket of water in to prove it was "unclogged" . Next day, basement flooded again and continues to flood every time I use the bathroom shower, washing machine and dishwasher. I have called Nussbaumer over and over and over again and they just keep giving me the run-around and ghosting me. They will not come back to do the jobs properly. Trash company, trash scammer family. Stay away at all costs. As with most in these reviews, was contracted through HSA home warranty. Had a shower pipe leaking, and they come out and start hammering holes in the wall to find the leak. They get to the plank of wood that keeps the shower arm in place and say: "We don't have the tools to cut through wood, and it will be extra". They claim they will get a quote and have it back to me in the next day or two. They disappear, and all the while I have a 1'x2' hole in my bedroom wall and no shower. I call back 6 days later and they claim it will be $350 to just cut through the piece of wood, and that it won't be covered by my insurance. Weird behavior, honestly. I called a company that is an actual plumbing company, and not a grift to collect home warranty money, and they came out and replaced a cracked shower arm for the price these bozos claimed they'd need to cut through the plank of wood. They didn't even need to use the hole that was created by Nusscammer & family, and replaced the shower arm through the shower. They found the issue and replaced the broken shower arm in under an hour, and never would have had to created a hole. I mentioned the name of Nussbaumer to the actual plumber, and they chuckled, recognizing the name and the BS they pull. FYI, the wife has a TikTok account called 'wifeofaplumber' where they flaunt their scam money and live above their means, pretending to be real working people. read more

Do not use these company. they are a scammer. had them out 3 times and didn't fix anything! They tried to scam my wife (shake down). told her need hot water heater and i agreed pay but they would not install tell pay them up front, she refused that day. then i called them back out and different mechanic show up and told me only need valve only (the original mechanic got fired for doing scam stuff). now few weeks later and water heater not working again. and i had to pay service fee for both times ( would not do the right thing even when they did the wrong thing). They have an F grade with the Better Business Bureau for a reason. They will happily take your money to diagnose your plumbing issue but they will disappear when it comes time to fix it. I have been struggling with Nussbaumer Plumbing since April of this year when my home warranty company assigned them. They came out to fix a clog (still not fixed as of June) & a leaky faucet which they turned from a small drip to a steady stream of water by taking apart the knobs & faucet. They have not responded to multiple calls & texts from myself, my husband OR our home warranty company. March 24: I put in a request through my home warranty to address an issue with my shower March 27: Todd came to my home to look at my shower and told me he would need to order a new cartridge. 3 days from initial request April 10: I receive no word from Nussbaumer Plumbing and I begin calling the office twice per day. I am directed to voicemail during business hours, so I leave several messages and send an email. At one point I am put on hold, but I am never taken off hold. 17 days from initial request April 15: I finally get a hold of April, and she schedules me for April 29 between 9:00 am and 2:00 pm. 22 days from initiaial request April 29: It's 1:00 pm and Todd hasn't shown up; I also haven't received any communication about rescheduling or canceling. I call Nussbaumer Plumbing to get an update. April says that she hasn't received the part and will need to order an entire new shower system. I ask her to confirm with me when she's ordered the system so we can get a new appointment scheduled. April promises me she will call me by 4:00 pm that day. 36 days from initial request April 29, 4:00 pm: I receive no call. May 3: I call my home warranty to get a new plumber for this issue. They call Nussbaumer Plumbing and are put on hold and never taken off. 40 days from initial request May 8: I call my home warranty again to get a new plumber. They leave a message with Nussbaumer Plumbing's office. 45 days from initial request. May 10: I call my home warranty a third time to get a new plumber. They call the office and talk to April. She says she will contact me to schedule an appointment either May 13 or May 14. 47 days from initial request. May 14: I have received no contact fram April. 51 days from initial request May 15: I schedule a new plumber outside of the home warranty and out of pocket 52 days from initial request I have been without access to my shower for 52 days. I understand that contractors are busy people with a lot to juggle; however I have given every opportunity for April and Todd to contact me. I have called constantly with no response. I have left messages with no callbacks. I have been promised communication and then been ignored. What's worse is that they have indicated to the home warranty that the job is "complete," meaning that they can't assign me a new plumber until Todd and April change the status back to pending. Unfortunately nobody can seem to get a hold of them to do that. I encourage folks looking for competent and communicative contractors to look elsewhere, and I encourage Todd and April to scale back their operation so that they can give each customer the attention and communication they deserve. Nussbaumer Plumbing were assigned through my AHS Warranty Contract for a job that was done to unclog my 2nd floor vanity sink on 10/10/22. The 2 plumbers that was here - Bob/Jordan decided to recklessly dump the waste that they pulled from the vanity sink which even including metal parts and dumped them directly into my vintage toilet. (why would a plumber do that)? This thoughtless act of the plumbers resulted in not only clogging that vintage toilet, but my whole sewage line right into the basement bathroom toilet which also overflowed a day later. I called their offices at 4:46pm to discuss having someone come out to take care of it, since i now had no toilets NOT working in my home.. and when they heard what i said, someone hung the phone directly up on me in Their office. With no other recourse, i had to call another company - Rotor Rooter that thankfully were able to come out on short notice to not only repair the damage that Nussbaumer had done to my 2 toilets and sewer lines.. The team from Roto-Rooter worked tirelessly for at least 4 hrs to snake out and clear the sewer line but to unclog and save my vintage toilet that was jammed with dirt, waste and broken pipe pieces from the waste that was poured down there from the Nussbaumer plumbers, thankfully they were also able to snake and actually save the newer toilet downstairs as well. I had to pay a substantial amount of monies for their services - $660.30, plus tip to Roto Rooter company for their much needed services due to the negligence of the plumbers at Nussbaumer. I was happy to do it, cause i was treated fairly, and the work was well worth the price i had to pay to fix Nussbaumer's mistakes. Almost makes you wonder if it was done with intent...I would not recommend this company to even change a lightbulb. Please steer clear of this company. read more

I'm in Pittsburgh. Before Nussbaumer plumbers arrived to install a kitchen faucet, my garbage disposal worked fine. After they left, the garbage disposal would not turn on. After noticing the failure I called Nussbaumer's office and left a voicemail; my call was not returned. I called again 36 hours later and finally talked to a person, who connected me to the plumber who did the work. I described the problem and, after he could not identify a cause or solution over the phone, the plumber proceeded to deny all responsibility (arguing illogically that since the job was to install a faucet, therefore he could not possibly have disabled the garbage disposal unit that occupies most of the cramped space where he was working). He then suggested I was at fault, and advised me to initiate a claim with the home warranty company (which would cost me another $75). I subsequently discovered, on my own time, the problem. The hose for the on/off air switch had become disconnected from the garbage disposal plug, at the point of attachment to the plug. The plug goes into an outlet directly beneath the faucet attachment, and the plumber had necessarily disconnected the plug in order to access the faucet from below. During this process the air hose must have become disconnected from the plug, and was never re-attached. That's a simple enough mistake to make, and once I discovered the disconnection, it took half a second to fix. The problem is that it was Nussbaumer's mistake, and I was the one left to fix it. The problem is with Nussbaumer's denial of responsibility, their (incorrect) shifting of blame onto the customer, and their lack of interest in making things right. STAY FAR AWAY!!! Our home warranty company cannot reach ANYONE at this business. We have not been able to reach a person either. They sent out a crew to replace a broken/leaking water heater. We were told that they could replace the water heater the same day and we gave them the details of our unit. The crew was given the wrong unit info. Then they said that they just diagnose the issue and report back to the warranty company, and they never contacted or warranty company to submit a work order. And finally, the "out-of-pocket costs" were much higher than what I can buy at Home Depot... he said that the covered parts (hot water tank only) will total over "twice the amount they cost" for the warranty company! I do not recommend this company. Twice they have ignored work orders from our home warranty company and have not completed any work. The first was our water heater that broke. The stated they couldn't find our home and never called us, we live on a main road. We were able to make the repair ourselves after the piece was place by another plumber. The second time was this week. We have a leak that needs to be fixed. It happened on 10/13, the home warranty company was contacted again. They scheduled an appointment for 10/16. We did not hear anything from them that day, was rescheduled to 10/17, again no call no show. Was promised a call on 10/18 and again no call no show. Finally the work order was retracted however no new plumber has been assigned. We still have a leak, our ceiling has received more damage, we are now worried about mold and structural damage. These guys are horrible! They caused $18,000 in damages to my house! They reported my claim to my home warranty company in a manner so they wouldn't cover repairs and then up charged me a ton. They put the wrong kind of shower diverter on the wrong, and shot water into my walls for a week. I didn't know it until there was water coming out of garage ceiling 3 floors below. And then to make matters worse they wouldn't cover damages the admitted to on video, nor will their insurance company respond to my insurance companies attempted communications. My home warranty company uses Nussbaumer for plumbing issues. When their tech came to my home, he told me that my pipe leaks were the result of "electrolysis" and offered a quote to re-pipe my entire house. The place where my electric was "grounded" near my water meter meets code. If this is truly what was causing such issues, it would be much more well-known and housing codes might be adjusted to provide a different solution. My husband is a union carpenter and he consulted separately with 3 master plumbers who have no "skin in the game." They confirmed that this is absolutely not a thing and should cause no issues with leaks. As a result of this (being kind) misdiagnosis, the entire claim with my home warranty company is under review. Their misdiagnosis may likely cost me quite a bit. Was sent by AHS for sewage overflow in my storage area. Worded the problem as if it was outside my house so AHS would deny it and called asking did I want it snaked for $360. I was also told It wasn't sewage in my basement it was water from outside . 2nd opinion confirmed it was both and needed to get access to my drain . Bottom line is I need new sewage drain after camera and Hydrojet confirmed it but Nussbaumer tried to overcharge me to snake outside when the problem is inside . They told us our venting for the hot water heater wasn't correct and got our home warranty claim denied (even though the heater was at it's end of useful life), and this was after we proved to them they were the ones who did the work back in 2020 in the first place! Do not use this company! I had a work order requested by my warranty company for my leaking water heater. This company called to schedule with me and gave a 2-7 window. My mother took off work to be home for when the plumber was supposed to arrive. Plumber showed up to my house at 3:55 did not get out of the car and then just left. I get an email from my warranty company saying the job is completed and parts are being ordered. The plumber never even got out of the car. When I callEd the plumber lied and said no one ever came to the door. Work order was resubmitted, company then lied and said they tried calling me multiple times on 1/24/25 and I never answered.
