When my mom was diagnosed with ALS, her decline was rapid and devastating. She lost mobility from…read morethe neck down and required full physical transfers. Before finding Homewatch CareGivers, I had gone through at least three different agencies. Each assured me they had experience with ALS, understood its unique challenges, and could safely care for someone with advanced mobility needs. Unfortunately, that wasn't our experience. By the time I found Kelly and her team, I was exhausted, overwhelmed, scared, and running out of hope. Kelly came to our home for an initial visit, and from the moment she walked through the door, I had a good feeling. She listened carefully, understood the complexity of my mom's condition, and talked us through scheduling options. Most importantly, she recommended a two-caregiver approach to ensure my mom's safety during transfers. Within a week, Homewatch CareGivers had highly qualified caregivers in place and ready to help. Homewatch CareGivers truly became a lifeline for our family. As my mom's condition changed, the caregivers adapted seamlessly. When she could no longer chew and needed pureed meals, they didn't simply blend everything together. They thoughtfully prepared and plated each of her favorite foods individually, preserving both dignity and enjoyment. They learned how to operate her power wheelchair, helped us navigate new equipment, and frequently offered insights and suggestions that even some medical professionals had not considered. Throughout the entire journey, we were met with compassion, respect, and genuine empathy. One of the hardest realities of ALS is watching people lose their voice and mobility. Too often, others begin to treat them differently or speak around them. That never happened with our Homewatch CareGivers team. They always treated my mom as the intelligent, capable woman she was, ensuring she remained at the center of every conversation and decision. When we purchased an eye-gaze communication device, the caregivers learned how to set it up and use it. In fact, they became so proficient that there were times they understood it better than I did. Kelly's level of involvement and support was extraordinary. She didn't just check on my mom; she checked on our entire family. She provided a sense of safety and security that allowed me to continue working while knowing my mom was receiving exceptional care. Over time, the caregivers became part of our family. As ALS progressed, there were moments when we weren't ready to accept how much things had changed. Kelly gently guided us through each next step, whether that meant implementing overnight care, adjusting schedules, or helping us understand hospice options. Her guidance was always thoughtful, compassionate, and exactly what we needed. Sadly, we lost my mom in March. I can say without hesitation that we would not have made it through those 14 months without Homewatch CareGivers, Kelly, and the incredible team of caregivers who stood beside us every step of the way. Words cannot adequately express our gratitude for their professionalism, kindness, dedication, and love. When the end came, members of the Homewatch CareGivers team came to be by my mom's side and say goodbye. Even after her passing, Kelly and her team have continued to check in on our family and offer support. If you have a loved one with ALS or another degenerative neurological condition, I cannot recommend Homewatch CareGivers highly enough. Their expertise goes far beyond caregiving--they understand the disease, they support the family, and they provide compassionate care that preserves dignity every step of the way. Quite simply, we could not have navigated this journey without them, and our family will be forever grateful

5 Stars - Exceptional Care and Compassion…read more We've been with Mint Home Care for over a year now, and they have been absolutely amazing in providing care for both my mom and dad at different times. From day one, their caregivers, staff, and administrative team have felt like family. They've been accommodating, flexible, and incredibly supportive--especially during what can be such a stressful time when you're trying to care for your loved ones. What stood out most to us is how deeply they care. The team often went above and beyond, even visiting my parents at home or in rehab facilities just to check in on them. It's rare to find an organization that combines professionalism with genuine compassion, but Mint does exactly that. We would absolutely recommend them to anyone who is looking for care for a loved one. We trust them 100% and truly feel they've become an essential and cherished part of our family.

Mint came through and allowed me to have piece of mind when away at work. Over a year later we continue with their services even though my mother is much better. Most importantly, the leadership is wholeheartedly focused on quality care and client experience. I highly recommend them.

Luckily we chose to use BrightStar. The owners are outstanding. They were calm and understanding in what was a very stressful situation. Even on a Friday night they were available and they were able to quickly schedule caregivers around the clock. All of the caregivers have been competent and compassionate. Our minds are at ease knowing my MIL is being taken care of so well. I 100% would recommend this to anyone that is looking for care for themselves or their loved ones.

Some examples of my experiences with them in the 8 days that we used them: We called the nurse there and was advised to take my husband to ER on a Sunday night. She advised us to cancel out aide the next day because my husband might be admitted. It turned out that the ER visit was not necessary so we returned home around 4:30am. I called their 24-hour hotline and was told by Patrick that he would contact the scheduler at 7:30am to see if we can get our aide back. When I finally got up in the morning after an exhausting night, I called back and found that Patrick didn't contact the scheduler at all. He only did it after I called and told me that the earliest time that an aide could come was 2:30pm. My husband's diaper/sheet was saturated with urine in the morning and I am not strong enough to change him. I had to call another agency to get help. They sent someone over in 40-minutes and helped me clean up my husband. That was an extremely unpleasant and stressful experience. We talked to Brightstar and one of the aides, hoping to have her sign up for more shifts with us. They insisted that it can't be done, but the aide was puzzled because she clearly had the availability. One aide was sleeping on the job, another one had many issues and I told them that I'd rather take care of my husband myself if she was the only one available. I emailed a few people at Brightstar (including the scheduler) about changing the hours from 12-hour per day to two 4-hour shifts. A few days later, I got the new schedule, it still showed 12-hour per day. They claimed that it's hard to get the same aides for the fixed shifts because they all work for different agencies. We had a revolving door of caregivers the first week. The new agency found fixed aides for us in less than 2 days and promised that they'll be the same for the remainder of the time that we still use them (unless any of them are sick or have emergencies - which is reasonable). It CAN be done! My husband (who is in hospice) is very happy with the new aides and I am relieved that I no longer have the headaches dealing with the issues associated with Brightstar.

Independent You has been so terrific with finding the right carers, responding quickly to any problems, and working with me while I'm on the other side of the country, that I can't imagine how their service could be any better. From the first meeting and establishment of the care plan for my father, I knew I was in capable, professional hands, and so their services have proved so far. Dad has been thriving under their care, and I have especially appreciated their efforts to make sure we have the same set of rotating carers, which I know has been difficult during Covid times. On occasions when we need a new or temporary PCAs, Grace HHC went extra miles to find and provide us with people who meet my mother's and our family's needs and values. This is a critical element for good healthcare providers. My mother's been with Grace HHC since its opening. Prior to her connection with the company, she has developed Alzheimer's disease and other symptoms, which many people develop as we age. Grace HHC has been finding good senior daycares, worked with her insurance company to provide the right service and hours, and various things to help improve my mom's conditions and provide all her needs, including medical and personal hygiene products. Very pleasant staff at Grace HHC works closely with the family, communicating on a daily bases, as needed. They can do that because Grace HHC is well-staffed with professional nurses and administrators that care about their patients/clients. I highly recommend Grace HHC for anyone and everyone that need special care.
