Ordered the Soon Tofu with kimchi as well as the injeolmi bingsu. The tofu was a comforting dish for a chilly day. Had an ample amount of tofu topped with a percectly cooked egg. Plenty of side dish options were provided, however, I wish they would have provided refills as most other korean places do. The bingsu was subtly sweet, just the perfect amount but not enough injeolmi flavour. Mochi had the perfect fluffy texture that complemented the dessert very well. I always liked visiting Nuri Village ever since I was in undergrad. I was glad to go here again with my family recently. We ordered: Naengmyeon (Cold Noodles) - Very refreshing and very chewy noodles. - Not bland but flavourable when you add the sauces it comes with. Dolsot Bibimbap (Korean Stone Pot Rice Bowl) - Good blend of the ingredients. - Meal was hot when served and had some good crispy rice. Jjamppong (Korean Spicy Seafood Noodle Soup) - Very spicy (be warned) but really good nevertheless. Banchan (side dishes) -They were pretty good but I have to give a huge compliment to the kimchi. It was nicely made- the right amount of spice. It was actually a bit more spicy than ones normally in restaurants so I was surprised. Service was pretty good as well. We recommend eating it together with the green onion on top! Kimchi Jijgae This one was bubbling and boiling when served to us. It was served with rice and a lot of side dishes. This is my go-to Korean spot in KW. Parking is ample inside the university plaza. They have wonderful service. Every time I've been there I've been seated quickly and greeted kindly. Depending on what time you go, it does get busy. I typically come here on off hours. Late lunches or early dinners around the 4-5:30 mark. It's usually empty until the students come in. They have a variety of dishes, from authentic Korean soups to rice dishes and BBQ options. They also have KFC (Korean Fried Chicken) that comes in large platters and very much shareable. Food review! GamJaTang (Pork Bone Soup) - I always get this here. They serve 4 banchans, usually kimchi, pickled turnip, fried potato cubes in a sweet sauce and beansprouts. The soup is hot and flavourful. Usually comes with 3-4 large pieces of pork bone with lots of meat and a small piece of potato in the soup. Served with a bowl of rice. Depending on the time you get there, if you hit the end of the lunch rush, the pork bone is fall off the bone because it's been sitting and cooking all morning. If you come during the beginning of dinner rush, around 6 or 7, the soup isn't as tender because they're fresh pork bone they put into the soup that hasn't cooked long enough to break down the fibres. Jampong - seafood noodle soup. This one has a really unique seafood flavour to it. Lots of vegetables in the soup (carrots, zucchini) and thick korean noodles with a good amount of seafood in it (shrimp, mussels, calamari, imitation crab meat). This is great on a really cold day. Soondofu soup (tofu soup) - I had this with pork, assuming that it would taste very similar to their pork bone soup. I think out of all the dishes I've tried, this was the most disappointing. Lots of soft tofu. An egg yolk to cook on top. The problem? It was flavourless. You can see the colour of the spice but there is nothing but water in terms of flavour. I'd stay away from this unless you like very bland food. KFC - Original Korean Fried Chicken. $30 for a full chicken, $18 for a half chicken. It will and can feed about 3-4 people. Crisp pieces of chicken with a ton of flavour. It's not greasy. It's light. Chicken is juicy. When I crave for chicken, I come here for it. I always order the whole so that I can have the leftovers the next day. read more

My new manager and I needed a place to meet and sync up last minute, and because he just took a family trip to S. Korea, we were all in. We got there within 45min of closing on a Monday and the young staff was eager to get our order and get us the heck outta there. Even tho we were super rushed, the food was awesome and after a few fun banters with the staff, they were more than happy to let us hang out while they closed up. Nice interior prior to covid19. It's a restaurant great for eating out with friends. The food is pretty great. I often get their lunch specials, but the gamjatang and their fried chickens are also pretty great. Would recommend. I'm a fan of most korean stews tbh and they have a pretty big variety. Have gotten takeouts from here after covid quarantines started and food here is pretty well packed. My fried chicken wasn't soggy because their takeout containers had air holes at the top. Probably one of the better Korean spots in the K-W region, I find myself here once or twice every week! Being even more honest, out of all the Korean places in the University Plaza, this is the best one by a long shot. Replacing where Mikey's used to be, the owners of Nuri Village kept the great service and quality! I've tried the GamJaTang, Bibimbap, Rice Cake and many other dishes and none of them fail to disappoint me. Not to mention all the side dishes that are also super good. In this pic, some of our friends and I tried the Buddae Jiggae which is roughly ~$30 and even between 3 people we could not finish all of it. Would highly recommend if you're hungry! Overall, Nuri is a staple spot to hit up if you're near UW or the KW Region. You'll most likely leave feeling very satisfied! read more

Pretty awesome meal! The chicken was pretty good, lots of sauce and flavour. Ordered the spicy and green onion options, I like both but I think I like the green onion a litttleeee more! The spicy one was not that spicy- bit mild. The portion size was great too! Both were ordered and shared among 4 of us. It was enough for us to be full but not bloated full (does that make sense?? Haha) Service was great, tended to us well and met our requests. The place was quite open too making it easier for the waiter and waitresses to see if anyone needs help. The place is fairly roomy as well and can fill a decent number of people. Will be back to try their soups and bbq options! read more

Came here on a Saturday for lunch. Its our first time in Waterloo. Lots of parking spots. Located in a plaza. Not very busy. The food came out quickly. We ordered japchae, green onion and seafood pancake, seafood udon, and soondubu pork, for 3 people. Appetizers were huge. Taste was good. Imo the pancake had too much green onions and not enough seafood. The green onions were cut into really big pieces which i didn't really like. Udon also had little amount of seafood. My friends and I go to this place ALL the time. We would order the GamJaTang as it has such amazing flavour for a good price. Usually this place is packed during dinner time due to how popular it is, and there is space for larger groups.
