We belonged to the credit union that NuMark replaced. We only had $5.00 in our account but we were considering building our account. Well, they closed it out and confiscated our $5.00 so why would we! That's not the way to build confidence. No! stay away! It's only $5.00. but it was our $5.00! read more

This place is absolutely worthless, as soon as you have your earliest opportunity take your business elsewhere, Have a heloc and account through them. While I was on vacation I received a letter that I must have insurance on my loan, but some of the numbers and reply to letters on the email looked like a phishing scam. The letter was my second and final notice, I never received a first notice, or a phone call, or email, see a pattern of lack of communication. Come to find out both my contacts at the branch/location no longer work there, probably a cut by the bosses so they can get fat bonuses for reduced workforce. "We call it, let's scare the sh!t out of customers and get away with it while we make more money program" I called numark and emailed the general customer services 3 days in a row, with a promise someone would get back to me. Of course they never did, there's. Big surprise. Eventually I had to go to the branch where I stood around for 5 minutes as people walked past me and finally a teller flagged me down. I went up and asked to talk to a manager to find out they "are short staffed and don't have a manager right now" They glanced at the letter and said it was official, apologized and basically said "we don't know who you called so (toughski shitski) there's nothing they can do" First off for short staff you had 4 people standing around or sitting that I could see, only one acknowledged me. No one ever responded to my requests to find out if it's legit, let me just say hey Regional manager a$$hole if you're looking for someone to work, I'll work and be actually what you aren't, accountable and responsible. But I don't work for people who treat me the way your employees did. Go work on your golf game or whatever stupid hobby you have and continue to be unhelpful while you charge people $2k a year an interest. As soon as rates get better I'm out, I have enough stuff to deal with two parents who have cancer and children with special needs. read more

DO NOT GET A LOAN FROM THEM!!! I got a secured loan with my wife at the time. They used the title of her car as collateral, which is fine. After a year or so, we were going through a divorce and I got a personal loan while we were separated. After I paid off the loan we had together, they wouldn't give her nor I the title to her car until MY own personal loan was paid off even though we were finally divorced and my personal loan had nothing to do with the loan her and I had together!!! TOTAL BS!!! Do yourself a favor and go to someone more truthful and reputable. read more

My first time dealing with NuMark was when my dad had a stroke in May 2024. I had to take over his finances as he isn't married and I'm his only child. He didn't have a POA in place, so I had to get a guardianship. NuMark did not know what to do with the court-appointed paperwork and passed me around to various people who never called me back (I had to constantly call back, despite being told they would call me back). Fortunately, my dad regained his faculties, and we could remove the guardianship and put my name on all his accounts. However, the issues with NuMark continued. In order to pay for his care, I needed to move his funds to an IRA, which required getting a medallion signature. I have contacted NuMark several times about this, and have been told that someone will call me back to arrange this. I have not heard back from anyone. I also needed to move my dad's CD to his savings account when it matured, and went into the bank when instructed to have this done. On the day of maturity, instead of the money going into his savings, it went back into the CD. I have yet to work with anyone who knew what they were doing or who called me back when they said they would. read more

Danielle is always able to answer my questions and help. She is quick and efficient and I couldn't be happier with her service. Anytime I've worked with the bankers, they've been able to complete my requests. This credit union has helped me out in difficult times and helped me more than they know. I've been a member since I was 15 years old... so almost 20 years now. I loved the small town feel of Northstar Credit Union, as it was named back then. The staff were so helpful and friendly. Everyone knew me by name and if there was ever any questions or issues, a simple local phone call would resolve the problem quickly. Since the merger of 2021 along with the name change, things have gone down the toilet. Pretty much all of the former staff members are gone, replaced by new employees who don't take the time to know you, and have no history with the members. If you call the phone number, you get someone in a call center and it takes forever to receive a call back. I've had nothing but problems with my debit card since the merger. My routine purchases are being declined frequently because of "security measures". The only reason I haven't switched banks is because it's such a headache to go through all of that. I miss the old credit Union along with Nina, April, and Brandy. :( read more

Numark is a horrible to deal with. They will ask for insurance information, and you can give it to them over and over again have your insurance agency call and they will still force you to take their insurance. Whatever you do try your best to not have them as your lender. read more

I tried several times to set up an automatic car loan payment so that I don't have to drive to NuMark in Warrenville to make the payment in person. The online application keeps telling me that I have given them incorrect information. It is after 11:00 pm, and I guess that they do not have 24 hour access to my account. I will try again tomorrow! This credit union is horrible. Stay away. They do nothing but cause embarrassment. They declined my debit card in public places like the grocery store not because I don't have the money but because they think every charge is fraudulent. I also was trying to purchase a Xbox series x that I have been trying to get for a year and they denied the charge and walmart sold out. I am so upset at this bank. read more

This credit union bought my previous one a couple of years ago. First they never answer the phone. Second their customer service is horrible. I refinanced a car, financed a camper and took out a personal loan with the previous credit union. I have never missed a payment. I applied for a small mtg loan with NuMark and they just sent me a denial, no phone call, no explanation. I was able to finance elswhere. I am sure the loan was smaller than they do but just let me know. Now I am trying to buy a motorhome. I applied on Monday, received an email on Tuesday letting me know they would be reaching out to me. I haven't heard anything since. I emailed back and nothing. Horrible. I have also experienced many problems with this credit union since they bought the credit union I had used for over 50 years. The reviews NuMark available online have been consistently abysmal for the couple years I have been a member, so I'm apparently not the only person that has problems. I wonder why NuMark's consistent response to these extremely low marks and frustrated customers is "Customer satisfaction is incredibly important to us...", but nothing changes! Still need to drive over to my local branch if I have a problem because they never answer the phone. It's a big hassle to change banks and all the auto pay accounts, but I'm pretty fed up with the lack of any customer service. read more

I've been a member since 2014 and absolutely LOVED my banker. She was always responsive and willing to take the time to help me, however since the merger I noticed that they no longer allow transfers to outside banks, and the chat feature always seems to be unavailable during business hours. I've been waiting on the phone for 30 min, which never used to happen before. It's disappointing to see all these changes, so i'm most likely going to close out my account. read more

They ran my credit and told me my credit was 640, when my credit was 680s just get me charge with higher APR. that is call" deception". Not good for any business to do that for their customers. read more

Marry me Courtney Ok. I got my card that I use for everything stolen. Life literally stops because I use a lot of instant deposits and when I have to change my card info it takes 3 days to update so no access to money. Courtney helped me with this. She and her boss treated me like her family member. They made sure I had cash for the next few days and they didn't have to do and probably shouldn't have done what they did to help me but they know I'm a permanent customer. I am often a cranky old man about fees in the past. They still feared me like family. They made my whole day and they were absolutely excellent. If I could give Zero stars- I would. This credit union merged with my old one two weeks ago and there have been nothing but HUGE problems. On the day of the "merge" which supposedly they had planned for months, no one had access to anything. Deposits didn't show, the website you couldn't access- it was a nightmare. As a single Mom of 2 little boys with zero support, you can imagine how concerned I was with not being able to see my accounts or do anything with them. Within the last two weeks, I have struggled getting ahold of people and the ones I did had no clue what was going on either and just apologized for not knowing anything. No answers about how things were going to be. You call the number or email or try to use the chat (news flash it doesn't work) and nothing. No response. Then they are "live" which is what the agents kept telling me which apparently means that they will choose the order that your deposits are made. So any auto payments you have, will come first before your direct deposit on the same day. Which meant they overdrafted me $120 worth even tho I had over $1k in this account. It took almost an entire day to get someone to reverse it and I was told it was a one time courtesy. What?! It's unethical! You can't overdraft when you have money in your account! Within the SAME day, my debit card got declined (again even tho I had $1k in the account) because I was coming up on 2 months past due on a small loan. They cut all access to MY money- even tho I had proof and submitted it that I had paid up the loan that very morning (I had been waiting for my tax return as I fell behind due to COVID-19 and was Denied a deferment (even tho I submitted all documentation and was originally approved) because a parent is a joint on my account and he didn't qualify for it). It took a million phone calls and until 5pm on Friday evening for someone to turn my debit card back on. Jessica is by far the RUDEST employee I've yet to meet and I've worked in customer service for 20 years. I will be closing my checking account after my prepaids go thru this week and only paying my loan from an outside bank. I am sure they will make this a very difficult thing to do as well, if anyone bothers to pick up the phone or respond to an email. This credit union is NOT to be trusted with your money. I have never experienced anything like this before. Terrible customer service and terrible for your money. Save your time and bank with a regular bank- I have let everyone in town I know know how this credit union handles their customers. Despicable. read more

I have been with the credit union for close to 30 years now and recommend it to anyone I talk to that is looking for great customer service with minimal fees. The CU has a knack for hiring the quality of person that actually likes people, have intelligence, and actually have common sense. I have had many differing problems and issues that anyone has throughout life and the CU has always been there to assist wherever and whenever possible. UNETHICAL & UNFAIR PRACTICES USED AT THIS CREDIT UNION!!! This review is late but never the less necessary. I used to like NorthStar Credit Union before they started the shinnanigans. So I got an auto loan through them that required me to have insurance from the purchase date of the car. I asked my insurance company to fax the paperwork...they never did. NSCU contacted me and I took them the paperwork. I was told by Brenda who worked at an on campus location for my job that everything was okay, the charges would be removed, & I would be contacted if there was an issue. So 5 yrs pass...it's time for my last payment & there's an extra $1000 on my statement. I call to ask why & am told it's for insurance coverage they gave me while uninsured. I told them that was settled 5 yrs ago. Still Regina Martynek insisted that I provide proof from 5yrs ago. I had changed providers 2 months after getting the car. Needless to say the situation was never settled because I refuse to be ripped off. She couldnt provide any proof tht a 3rd party was ever paid insurance on my behalf. Then she had the nerve to say they do it to their customers all the time as if it's just the normal thing to do. I think it's sad to pay a note on time faithfully for 5yrs to have your credit report ruined because someone didn't do their job 5 yrs ago or Regina maybe does this to scam customers on a regular. I dnt know. What I do know is I paid every note faithful until the end, but my credit report has been ruined by NorthStar. Credit Unions are great. Just don't use this one unless you want your faithful payments to turn into funny business that doesn't make sense. Mind you, she kept lowering the amount like I would bargain with giving away free money. Stay away...they let evil witches that don't value their customer base work here. BAD CHOICE XXXXXXXXXX!!!!!!! Who gets insured but has no insurance card or insurance information to give the police? I surely never received an insurance card from NSCU. I don't have a policy number for this so-called insurance. read more

I would give 0 stars if I could. I had financed a recent auto loan with Northstar credit union, but shortly after refinanced with a new loan company for a much lower apr %. Northstar was paid IN FULL for this loan by my new loan company and they still charged my account $510 on a fully paid loan, a week after we had proof of loan pay off. I had words with an account representative about this wrongful charge in June. They apologized profusely and credited my account the same day. I was pleased with their solution and understood things happen. However, today I realized that once again Northstar charged my account for another car payment.. on a loan that does not exist... and has been confirmed over a month ago to be paid off. I will be dealing with them tomorrow as it is Sunday and they are closed. DO NOT waste your time with this bank, obviously they have no idea what is going on with their accounts. Completely unacceptable and unprofessional. read more
