My review isn't about a particular branch but more about their loans and website to make payments. My particular loan acrues interest daily so naturally I would like to make extra payments towards the principle to bring the loan total down sooner. When making a payment on their site, it doesnt give you an option to do that like every other banks sites do. When I called to ask, I was told I would physically have to bring in extra payments to a branch to apply them to the principle of my loan. After this one is paid off, I will likely never do business with them again over this. Life is too busy these days to have to visit a branch every time I want to pay extra towards my loan. read more

Wrose than aggressive bill collectors!!! Customer service? More like Tyranny! Continously receiving threatening letters to add fees and charges to my loan.... from a change of address, to complying with comprehensive insurance on my stored Motorcycle over the winter. I gave them every bit of information I have. I emailed them my policy from Safeco, but that still isn't enough, Numark has told me that since I havent complied to what they expect from me, they are adding their own insurance premium and tacking the cost on to my loan. I NEVER would have financed through Northstar had I known Numark was going to take over! They threatend to charge me $15 per letter they send me after I gave them all the information for my change of address. -Who treats their customers this way? I dont care how much it costs me, I'm refinancing my 2 loans from Numark just to get away from them! read more

I've been a member of this credit union for a couple of years or more and was very happy with the service I have received, especially with Diane M who went way out of her way to expedite a car loan application for me however moments later when I walked over to make a deposit at the window in that Warrenville office the young teller was wearing a suggestive outfit. I made a comment about it but was shocked at how "offended" she was. It was almost like she was looking for an excuse to accuse someone of sexual harassment hoping for some sort of settlement. This happened to someone I knew of about 30 years ago. He was exonerated but the damage to his reputation could not be undone. I'm glad I don't work for this company or the damage could've been much worse. Maybe that's why of the dozen or more employees I've dealt with at this credit union almost none are males. Apparently this young lady scared the you know what out of the president. He wrote a very threatening letter to me accusing me of "highly inappropriate" behavior without even giving me the chance to view the so called evidence or the opportunity to defend myself. Maybe someday this man will find himself being accused unjustly and will find out just how insulting such accusations can be. Or maybe, if she's foolish enough to continue to try this tactic, since she has obviously gotten away with it at least once, it will establish a pattern that will warrant investigation. If she chooses to pick on an attorney her employment may prove to be a luxury the credit union can no longer afford. If you chose to do business with this organization you might consider avoiding this office or at least dealing with the more mature staff there. i plan to close my account as soon as possible even though I just ordered new checks. I'm a member of several credit unions. I served on the Asset and Liability Management Committee of DuPage Schools Credit Union for many years and was chair of the credit committee of Henry Pratt Federal Employees Credit Union. I loved Northstar Credit Union. They cared about their members, always resolved issues, low wait time, very accommodating. Since the acquisition by Numark it's been nothing but problems and nickle and diming. Can't get a straight answer except "no, we can't do that." I have a car loan and 4 accounts including business. By far the best place for a credit union and a place that will help you establish your credit better by helping you open up a secure line of credit. Ask for Dina who helped me and the branch manager name Mack Story was so damn helpful, he should be the president of this bank. He went way over for me to get me going on opening up a savings account in order for me to make a payment on your secure line of credit . He explain this to me which wasn't at first when opening this up. But everything is great and going well now. Just have to make those payments to establish your credit rating within the year. This is my second review for NUMARK Credit Union - Countryside. Customer service and rates are still topnotch. The staff before was good, but this has even improved. We enjoy all the tellers. They are terrific. Friendly and personable. ne teller who stands out the most, and please nothing against the others, it is Miguel Farias. Seems like each time we bank in person he is there. He knows each family member by name, always smiling and laughing. He makes us feel good emotionally. You want to come in and bank in person just to see and talk with Miguel. He is very helpful and will help you set up an appointment if you need to see a financial or loan advisor. Speaking of a loan advisor. You need to see Dina Triplett. Another fine example of a terrific NUMARK employee, She is so helpful and explains everything thoroughly so you understand what you will be financing. She is always willing to go above and beyond to get you the financial assistance you need. I highly suggest you ask for Dina Triplett if you need a loan. Definitely a place to bank at. I applied for a loan with CU. I knew that my credit history was rough but I had good income and was rebuilding. I had no late pays since my divorce with VERY good income. They wouldn't even discus it with me. They just denied it outright. This is a SHAM of a financial institution. CU's are supposed to be more people oriented. This one definitely is not. You would be better off going somewhere else. Customer service is not their priority! read more

This branch is just as bad as their other branches. Terrible phone service and no one knows anything about anything. I believe it is a small company trying to act like a big company but they don't get it. Their technology is horrible and their customer service is rude. I went their for an auto loan they told me it could take up to 2 days, well it took 5 days. Needless to say I went somewhere else. I have accounts at Chase who is a huge bank, and generally I like to do business with local companies, however they manage to do a wonderful on customer service and they are #1 in technology. Over the last few years my debit card has been compromised. The first time it happened my card was used to make a 500 dollar purchase. Numark caught it within an hour of the transaction and contacted me before I even knew their was a problem. Just yesterday it happened again. My card was cloned and used for multiple purchases. On both occasions I worked with Kari Hopper. The money was returned to my account within minutes. She sent me a simple form and reassured me that she would take care of everything. She processed the order for new cards and we had them the next day. These situations are never good but the level of service Kari provided made it far less stressful. I am a member of a partner credit union who received excellent service at NuMark Credit Union in Crest Hill, IL. I was having an issue obtaining a cashier's check from a partner credit due to cashier's check limitations imposed by the third party entity who handles transactions between partner credit unions. I was hours away from needing my cashier's check for closing on my new home and NuMark CU's employees Brittney and Tina went above and beyond to come up with an alternate solution to pull the money from my account and provide me with the check I needed. Not very competitive. I had a car dealer hook me up with these guys. I have great credit/ great income. They loaned me $$ on a 40 years old car, which is very hard to find. I naturally assumed this is one of those good, local credit unions that you hear about. I later had them quote me on a mortgage- no good. They weren't competitive against the major banks. Had no flexibility in the programs/ offerings. And the representative that contacted me on the phone had a hard time answering my question and was reluctant to send me anything an estaimate in writing. I tried them recently again for a boat loan. They advertise competitive programs- they are not. They dont loan on boats over 25'. I had high hopes for a local go-to credit union, but now I"m moving on read more

they ok. i just got two courtesy fees for money that was in pending (meaning i have the money in my account but it is not in my available balance). they are holding the money in their hand to pay these two pending transaction, but to make sure they get the most money out of me, another transaction comes in and it was for more then i had so they let the money go that was in their hand charged courtesy fee for the larger amount to come though then also charged me for the two transaction that they did have the money for. so instead of one courtesy fee i have three. always trying to keep the man down. read more
