Nugget is like....well its like a little nugget of heaven in Davis. Aisles and aisles of gourmet foods that allowed me to impress many a date with my "cooking". One of the best things about the Nugget is their sandwich station. Tons of fresh options that cater to almost every pallet. read more

You may want to avoid this store if you are physically challenged. There e only 2 handicap spaces near the entry. Nobody monitors these spaces & they are frequently unavailable because cars with no handicap plates & no handicap hang tag are parked there. When I approached the manager I was told he was unaware of any problem. Exactly my point. Nobody pays any attention to whether the cars parked in those spaces are legal or not. I am sure that most people don't say anything. I have encountered this many times but today was the first time I said anything. Both spaces had illegally parked cars in them. It so happened that as I was waiting for one of the spaces as a car pulled out of it a lady swooped in from the other side of the space. As she got out of her car she flashed me a victory sign. This was capped off at the checkout where my 2 bags of groceries were packed so that 1 bag was so heavy I couldn't lift it out of my cart & into the car without help & the other bag weighed nothing. read more

So normally I probably wouldn't review a supermarket but nugget is so much more. The bakery is unbelievable...they have a cake called chocolate overflow that is to die for. The deli and the prepared foods are always great and very fresh. The market has a variety of unique finds as well as the main staples of a normal grocery store. Everything is always neatly stocked and the produce and seafood is always so pretty. Its definitely one thing i miss when I am not at school. read more

So I have lived in a lot of places and nowhere have I known a grocery store so perfectly suited to me as in Davis, CA's Nugget. This store is the perfect combination of gourmet sensibilities and reasonable prices. The beer, wine, cheese, and produce selections are amazing, and the sandwiches are the best meal under $10 in Davis. Add it to a fancy soda or a nice beer and you have the perfect lunch for about $10. read more

I hate coming here. I hate shopping here. I hate it here....I don't care what you say. This place is my enemy. It smells weird, the customers are asshole-ish, and everytime I come in here it smells weird. I mean if you really want to pay extra, for the same stuff you can get at Raleys, please by all means.... read more

Lived real close to nugget for a year, this place is just the best. You have to try their sandwiches, they are literally, no exaggeration, the best sandwiches money can buy. The salmon ABLT is incredible, and big enough to split between two people! Nugget also has a really big produce section which is great and a modest sized cheese section. Lots of beer and wine options! I love nugget so much more than Whole Foods, always hoping it will expand down into the Bay Area (pls) read more

The BEST of all the markets around. Really, right up there with Whole Foods but it won't cost you a whole paycheck.

A poor substitute for Whole Foods. A lot more "commercial" brands than I would like to have to sort through... on the spectrum of "good, healthy, REAL food", it lies somewhere between Whole Foods and Safeway. read more

The employees here are so nice it's almost scary. Great selection, hot food section is a good option for when you don't feel like cooking and the weekly specials can be a steal sometimes. It's definitely a little pricey but you've got to pay for all the options and to keep staff happy so it's worth it sometimes read more

I've been shopping at Nugget for close to 16 years. Always the best fresh fruit/veggies, sandwiches, cheese selection (miss the olive bar), meat and breads. I've never tried the sushi, but looks fresh, everything else in the Deli is great. Their selection of local products is great too - dairy, candies, etc. Love their vitamin and health food section too. Like having a health food store in a store! The "normal" canned/boxed goods are pricier, but they do carry a great selection of organic, natural and more variety than the mainstream groceries carry on every isle. It's always clean, friendly and helpful staff. All the locations I've been to - two in Davis, Woodland and Vacaville are the place to shop! read more

Easily the best grocery store in the greater davis area. They have all the fanciness of a whole foods type store, with less attitude (and some name brands. Extra points for killer deli counter. Seriously, i think that those damn paninis are responsible for me gaining at least 10 pounds during college. read more

I didn't really come to the Nugget when I lived in Davis, and I am a little sad that I didn't because during my most recent visit, I discovered a large selection of random foods with expensive price tags! I mean, some of the foods you can probably get for a lot cheaper at the Co-Op, and the Nugget definitely has a snooty reputation to it, but sometimes you just gotta shop at the Nugget for its reputation. The chicken panini from their deli is very yummy, and they have tons of different bakery goodies. It reminds me a lot of Whole Foods in terms of friendly staff, fresh groceries, and price-wise as well. read more

All the snobbery and Gourmetude of the Bay Area, but in the Central Valley. This place is full of wonderfuly exotic and tasty foods, and an array of sodas to boggle the mind. They also make sandwiches to die for. Years ago Subway went on a campain to apeal to a higher class by talking endlessly about their "Sandwich Artisans," needless to say the campain failed because Subway, is well, Subway. However it seems the true artisans have been here all along. Each sandwich is hand crafted by a trully skilled sanwdich maker who cares deeply about his art. Watching the birth of a sandwich is a remarkable thing, from the first slice of the bread to the final toasting, the sandwich artisan breathes life into his creation. Give it a try, watch the miracle of creation, and then partake of the destruction in a few minutes. read more

best grocery store, EVER. The cibatta has a nice crunchy texture on the outside accompanied with soft chewiness on the inside. I like to put the homemade chipotle mayo on both sides of the bread followed by the basil aoili. The sauces are a great complement to the smoked salmon. Before we put veggies on our sandwich, we always ask the always friendly (seriously -- they're VERY helpful to customers) Nugget employee to heat and grill the bread, sauce, and sandwich. This basically means that they heat the sandwich and put it on a panini press to make it crispy. Next, I ask for lettuce, tomato, and onions with a drizzle of balsamic vinegar, olive oil, salt, and pepper. The veggies give a nice break from the heavy flavors of chipotle mayo and smoked salmon. read more

I love the cheese aisle. Mmmmm cheese! I find that the Nugget is great for things you can't normally find at Safeway. But for everyday items, I just go for the store brand stuff. But still, since it's so close I would rather shop here than at Safeway. read more

After moving to Davis, this quickly became my favorite market. Great selection, high quality, and helpful staff. Beautiful store and atmosphere (I can't even step foot into Safeway now). I docked a star due to the talkativeness of cashiers. Although it can be viewed as friendly, it often comes across as fake and necessary rather than genuine (think, "Wow, cranberry juice. My sister loves cranberry juice."). read more

Don't limit your Nugget Experience to just Davis, there is one in West Sac on Jefferson, one on Florin Rd west of I-5 and a new one coming in Rocklin, now if they'd just build us one in the Arden area! Pleaseeeeeeeeeeeeeeee Nugget come closer! read more

This market is what I miss most about Davis. Now all I have is Trader Joe's, which has great food but only about 1/6 the size of Nugget. What I miss, in no particular order: fresh paninis, exotic fruits like starfruit and blood oranges, the HUGE cheese section, the bakery breads, the various flavors of soda, and more that I can't remember. What's great about the Nugget is that they have gourmet food, as well as standard supermarket food. And the gourmet food is of course expensive, but the standard food is cheap. As a college student, I brought my grocery bill from $40 to $25-$30 by switching from Safeway to the Nugget. And at the Nugget, they managed the checkout lines well enough that I was rarely ever behind more than two people in line. read more

The only place I would shop. Even though Im a college student at UC Davis and the money is tight for me, I know it will pay off.

the customer service at the nugget markets is amazing. they usually have at least two people for each register. they have a lot of great high end products, but they're not always cheap. i like coming here and grabbing some sushi or a sandwich for lunch. this isn't our regular grocery store, but it's always a clean and pleasant place to shop. read more

Very helpful staff, amazing salad bar, and great selection of products and produce. My daughter and family live in Davis so my visits to the Nugget are infrequent, but will keep hoping they open a location in San Ramon. read more

Its awesome here. The produce is always fresh and they have a great selection of food! They carry products that you would not find at your local safeway or luckys. I've had the sandwiches here and I must admit, I was a little disappointed because I had really high expectations but it was still pretty good. The people who work her are generally really chipper so thats always a plus. read more

For groceries Nugget is pricey, but they have a nice selection and always offer the higher end foods....but their sandwiches are to die for. The best in town really. Plus they are not much more than subway or togos. They use fresh veggies and yummy deli cheese. Not only are their sandwiches good, but they also make fresh yummy sushi, good deli salads, and AWESOME salmon cakes...also they have a great bakery with the best cakes in town. I would shop at nugget if I had a higher budget, but if you are going there for a ready made meal it's priced great and always fresh. read more

It's nice to see two different grocery stores in one town. In some cities I've lived, there is only one primary Supermarket in town. I like the Chinese food at the Deli and their Bakery products. They also have a great selection of quality food product brands. Their employees are friendly and helpful! read more

I love the nugget. They carry so many items you WILL NOT find in safeway or even trader joes. I'm pretty sure they are the same company as Whole Foods. read more

When I lived in Davis I drove across town to do my shopping there. And when I visit my parents I almost always end up there for one reason or another. I live in the Bay area now and I go to Trader Joe's followed by Safeway for my weekly shopping outing. Shopping at Nugget was like doing both of those stops in one. read more

Nugget is always a treat to shop at. Their products are always new and interesting and just from the smell when you walk into the store, you realize that you're in a special place. As a resident of the Bay Area, we have plenty of Whole Foods but Nugget trumps them. Nugget's sandwiches alone are enough to bring you to the grocer and I haven't had a portabello mushroom sandwich that comes close to Nugget's. Their sausalito turkey sandwich is delicious, as well. Even Nugget's guacamole has no equal at any other store. Their desserts always leave my disappointed despite how good they look. I suppose that's the only thing about these guys that I don't like. ==== Rubric: 5 = Mindblowing 4 = Excellent 3 = I see the charm 2 = Disappointing 1 = Never again read more

i will not deny that Nugget has a better selection and much better quality food than other chain grocery stores. but it is UNDENIABLE that it is also much more expensive. i'll be damned if i'm gonna pay $4.75 for a box of honey nut cheerios. it's a great place though if you're a vegan/vegetarian, health nut, or just a total foodie. still, the deli, cafe, and bakery are top notch, the wine selection is vast and well-organized, and if you go in the evening, when they close the chinese food area, you can get a "mini rice bowl" with an entree like sweet & sour pork, or teriyaki chicken, or some sort of veggie thing on top of rice for a paltry $2.99. read more

Delicious sandwiches, but sometimes, usually more than more, the line is just way too long and much too slow.

good friendly service. they carry a lot of items. Prices are OK, best if you look in the ad for sales. Sale prices can get pretty cheap.

This nuggets is way better than the one on mace. The pesto bow tie pasta salad here was the best pasta salad i've ever had. Their rice bowls are freakin delicious too (i only tried the garlic chicken one but it was amazing). read more

This Nugget Market location is better than the one on Mace Blvd! So much more variety in terms of hot food, salad bar, pastries/mini bakery. It's larger in general and although I'm sure both Nuggets have the same items, why does it feel like there's more stuff here?! I've had lunch here several times and picked up dinner as well from the hot food section. I love their mini salad bar as it reminds me of Whole Foods and Davis, unfortunately, does not have a Whole Foods :( The hot food section will get your mouth watering! Very fresh and perfectly cooked meat, veggies, you name it! read more

Best grocery store in Davis! Sick and tired of Safeway. They have delicious hot food and desserts. Their cakes are so delicious! If you want good quality produce and groceries, I come to Nugget. If you are just looking for cheap deals, then go to Safeway/ Save Mart. The customer service is also a reason why I always come back. read more

IMO the nugget market's grocery is a little bit more pricey compared to safeway or savemart. However, they have a huge selection of fresh produce and different types of meat! The staff here is very friendly and always willing to help. The highlight of the nugget for me is their coffee/smoothie bar. O.M.G! Please do yourself a favor and get the triple G smoothie and acai bowl. The smoothie is a perfect blend of banana, peaches, pineapple with a hint of arugula, kale and spinach(even though there are a lot of greens in there!) The acai bowl is also very yummy and nutritious! They have several options of berry, tropical or original. If I was rich, I would come get Triple G and acai bowls every single day :) read more

This place is better than Whole Foods, (which I'm also a huge fan of). I love their selection of fresh organic produce and healthy options. Not to mention they make BOMB-tastic sandwiches! I would literally go there every day if I could. Yes things tend to be a bit pricier than other markets but you get what you pay for and at the Nugget you get some pretty awesome things. People at the check out are also super chill. Everyone should shop at the Nuggett!! read more

Although nugget market is a fairly expensive grocery store, their sandwich prices are competitive with the other options in Davis. However the quality and sandwich size that you get for the price is pretty impressive. Also these sandwiches cure hangover which is worth noting. The ingredients are fresh and if you are creative the combinations are endless. Can't wait to go back. read more

I would have to second the aforementioned review. Nugget would be high up on my Top 10 things I miss about Davis. Not only is Nugget aesthetically pleasing, spacious, and always clean, but its deli is unprecedented. The aioli is fantastic and you can get some of the best cheese's known to man on the sandwiches. Veggies are crisp and fresh and the selection of high quality, gourmet meats is fantastic! Not to mention these sandwiches are huuuuuge! They also have a fabulous selection of delish breads! You better believe I was a card carrying member of Nugget's sandwich club. The wide variety of exotic and unique soft drinks are also a plus, as is the burritos! Who would have thought such a yummy burrito could be made at a grocery store? Not I! Their prepared foods section is yummmmmy as are all of their baked goods. I also love their chocolate pudding! Did I mention that I am a cheese fanatic and could easily satisfy any cheese craving here! read more

uhMAZING chocolate chip cookies? check. mouth-watering $2.99 rice bowls with more than 2 meat choices? check. huge selection of wines, beers, and general booze? check. fruit samples? check! a multitude of organic offerings? check. helpful staff? check. pre-packed campfire graham cracker/choc/pretzel/marshmallows/almond mix? check. unusual grocery finds? check. a pastry display to gawk at? check. why WOULDN'T you come here!? read more

I live next to the Nugget and have been spoiled for life. The selection of cheese, beer, and wine is unbelievable. The sandwiches are better than any chain and most local delis. The store itself is clean, inviting, and the staff goes above and beyond in terms of customer service. read more

Excellent.... nothing else need be said. Oh yeah, except great wine selection, great meat guys, adorable checkers and baggers, and it doesn't get better than this in our area... salad bar, deli to go, cheese bar, the greatest bakery.... on and on and on. My vote... "Yes" read more
