In May of 2021, I purchased my first home. As part of my closing cost I agreed to buy a home so…read morelong as a sewage line was repaired. The company the seller chose was John Fowler Plumbing. I was given the check at closing for John Fowler Plumbing. The amount was nearly ten grand. I contacted the company. They came and took the check, in full, prior to rendering any services. I didn't think anything of it, so I let them have the check-assuming that the work would just be completed. The company came to my home to obtain the check. They said they would be out to complete the job; which they had to re-scheduled. This wasn't a problem. I understood. When the plumbing company finally came to do repair they disconnected me from city sewage. Then, expressed this wasn't the job they thought it was. It was then insinuated that either me, my family, or my neighbor need to contribute to the cost of this repair. I felt that the company should take some accountability and shouldn't have quoted for a job they couldn't perform. I also felt that they should be asking the seller to pay as this was part of the agreement for purchase of my home. So, my family and I contacted an attorney. After the attorney was involved, things were able to finally be resolved to have the sewer line replaced. However, after the company left they left my yard a complete mess! There is rocks, clay, debris everywhere as well as a huge dip near my house. I felt that this huge dip of dirt near my house could be problematic. My neighbor was concerned about it as well. So, my neighbor calls John Fowler Plumbing and asks if they will fix the damage they incurred to his yard while performing this project and if they could fill in this dip that he has left next to my home. They immediately say "no, landscaping wasn't part of our agreement." I later received a text and advised that landscaping is not part of the price that was paid and that eventually the rain will settle the dirt after a few months. John Fowler Plumbing, in my opinion, does not care about people. They will take no accountability for any mistakes they may make. I feel that they only care about trying to get as much money from you as they can. If you're not willing to give them several extra thousand dollars in addition to what already quoted to do for a job, they will not treat you well and they will destroy your yard and leave you high and dry. They did not care about the safety conditions of raw sewage in my yard and they will did not make much effort to clean up any feces or toilet paper that was in my yard because of the disconnect that they performed. If you live in Indiana - PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE think about hiring literally anyone else. I suggest Second Opinion Plumbing or Seriously 24/7. I had them come out and inspect what was happening at my house. The people at these companies were really sweet and they were willing to work with me to help resolve my issue very promptly!

Well, A Team discussed the issue with me over the phone, aligned that it was not an emergency, and it would be best if we scheduled for later in the week to avoid the expensive off hours charge. I mention this because the other companies that called made me believe it was an emergency and had to be dealt with ASAP at exorbitant fees. That gave me a level of trust with with A Team that followed through the the repair. When Adam arrived they were courteous and not once tried to sell us something that we did not need. The repair was done and the pump is much better than the one we had In previously. It is quieter and activates less often because it is not set up properly. The job came in under budget as well. I got ahold of Mr Fesler and was assured he would put my yard back to my satisfaction. he has never called written or contacted me in anyway. I have been contacting the city of Anderson of the problem. Finally, today I come home to a mess of straw in my side yard that appears to have seeds with many more tractor tracks in the part that wasn't damaged before along with large rocks all through the strawed part. I informed the city/county drainage offices. I cannot mow rocks and ruts! I am a 65 year old man that I believe am taken advantage of. By the way. The mud that has been washing through my yard all spring and has clogged an underground drain. (drainage office has no record of the drain) it's formed a sink hole in my yard. I was told I couldn't fill in the sink hole of the undocumented drain! as it carry's the water from the entire back side of the neighborhood! Yet Feslers can throw gravel mud pieces of the street in the drainage ditch that feeds it!

I was stuck in a horrible position with the property management company I was working with and being out of state only made it worse. I searched for a contractor to help me get the properties fixed and rented out so I could finally make some income. I found a Val here on yelp and we began to communicate. Since the very beginning Val has been responsive, kind, understanding, knowledgeable, professional and attentive. He provided me with estimates for work that need to be done and we went forward. The properties were rehabbed thanks to Val and not only did it and there. Val went out of his way to meet with potential tenants to show them the properties during the day while he was working on other projects for other customers. He must've showed those properties to a couple dozen people and eventually he helped me decided on tenants. Val even helped me find a good lease agreement. Does it end there? Nope. Val continue to help me and get the lease agreement signed by the tenets. He mailed me lease agreements, first months rent and deposits through money orders in the mail. That's it's right? Again no. Doesn't end there. Soon after the property is rented out small issues came up with tenets mostly regarding the plumbing. Val was quick to show up to the properties and take care of the issues. Of course none of this was free, but was it worth what I paid. Absolutely. Now is this the end? No. After this experience with Val I have decided on one thing. I contacted Val who immediately got back to me, did research on the property from the listing photos, and diagnosed the problem instantly. The next day, I got an estimate much less than another company's, and Val was continuously in contact with me at all times. We scheduled to do the gutter replacement about a week after the first conversation, and his crew arrived on time and got the work done without fuss. But here's the best part: not only did he look at the roof for me because I told him I was concerned about my inspection report's inadequacy, he surveyed almost everything on the exterior of my house. He identified roof issues, vent issues, pointed out rot, noted where things were installed cheaply, etc. He didn't pressure us into any work, he simply laid out the things my inspector should have caught, sent me pictures, and gave me advice for how and when to address some of the issues. He was honest in explaining much of this is on our dime. He was also frank in saying the inspector should give us the extent of the money laid out in the contract because he did such a poor job. He also was clear in that so long as I don't have stains on my ceiling, it wasn't an emergency, so I didn't feel pressured, I felt educated. I'm going to fix this house. I'm going to use Val to get it done. If I were you, I'd use him, too.
