The lack of competition in our area has allowed both Giant and Acme to significantly raise their prices while lowering selection. It's an unfortunate side effect of an oligopoly in the area. Just like any store, there are some items that I think are not competitively priced, however if you're a price educated shopper you will note some extraordinarily good deals here strung out across the store from meat ,dairy, produce, and packaged foods. I also feel that the selection was significantly better. If you like to keep a handle on your food costs, I suggest putting shoprite into your mix.
