They closed five minutes early. Lousy service! Someone from the regional management needs to speak with the store manager about this.

I grew up very near Linvilla in Delaware County and expected this place to be a miserable zoo on a…read moreSaturday night in October, but Highland was delightfully uncrowded except for two private parties of hayriders.   No lines, no fighting to park, no stress!  The property is over 200 acres, so it feels remote, and the sky is pitch dark at night.  Your hayride driver will take you deep into the orchard, on a fairly long ride to your own private bonfire spot.  We were near a pond.  The only light was the bonfire, which was large, and nicely maintained with well-crafted stone ring border that kept our group's crazy kids safe. I'm not sure if there is a package deal which included bonfire foods, but our wagon had s'mores ingredients, hotdogs, cider donuts, apple cider drink, water, and roasting sticks.  It was a LOT of food.  Everyone enjoyed the cider and donuts from Highland Orchards. Our hayride was 2 hours from 7-9pm, which was a very fun time for our group to socialize.  The kids, ages 1-12, all had a blast, and most fell asleep in the wagon return ride or in the car on the way home. The only way I'd improve it is probably not within liability framework, and also not possible due to the remoteness of this large property, but growing up, my family had our own orchard with old fashioned tractor and haywagon to do our own private bonfire parties, and I have to say, I miss my dad getting wild and driving us all down the street and around the neighborhood.  Lol, it's hilarious to drive past suburban Halloween parties in a haywagon making up chants and singing songs.  But another time and place.  Highland's set up is great the way it is, and a very worthwhile experience.

The field attendant/ spy ran up to me and my young child and told her to stop eating berries. Are you kidding me? I would not return. They also discourage you from walking to the berry fields and insist that you drive. The girl behind the pie counter could not tell me if the pies were made from canned berries or berries picked on the farm.

The taste of the fruits and vegetables is hit or miss. I tried watermelon and blueberries from most…read moreof the vendors, and I was disappointed this season. Raspberries were excellent, and cantaloupes were good. If I am in the mood for a burritos, I buy a two pack from the friendly Mexican food vendor. One burrito will last for my lunch and dinner. His chips were not very salty. I liked to have them for nachos, because I use sally cheese. The goat cheese place has good goat cheese that is perfect with crackers. The flower place sells excellent arrangements that last one to two weeks. I particularly like their sunflowers. The maple syrup guy shows up about every other week. His wife makes excellent Chex mix with some maple syrup baked in. I have to buy two small containers to last me two weeks. Once I bought the large container and I ate the whole thing that day. The pie and scone friendly vendor has meat pies during the Fall and winter that are quite tasty. I get there early, because some of the vendors get crowded. I would prefer this market in an area about double the size.

My favorite things to pick up at the market are the corn and other veggies in season, the sea salt caramels at Hope's Caramels, the gluten free pizzelles at Rosa's (even though I eat gluten), the black diamond goat cheese at Yellow Springs Farm, and cinnamon buns from Lizzies Kitchen. And they have great flowers every week when it's warm, so while your stuck at home because of the pandemic you can eat lots of delicious local produce and beautify your abode too.
