I will preface by saying I am reviewing the food & staff only... because if I wasn't familiar with…read moreborder states, spoke the language & was with my husband & Godmother I wouldn't of stopped. The area looks sketching at best, but again the WHOLE area looks that way, all the businesses looked closed. This particular restaurant has it's own parking lot across the street which is how I found it (HUGE sign) because the GPS had me a block away. I go to the lot & look for the restaurant, thankfully the guard? security guy? at the entrance had to tell me it was across the street... well still couldn't determine where because there's no signage, had someone not been leaving & opened the curtained door we wouldn't of known it was there &/or open... okay, done with that part! The waitress was super nice & very helpful, I knew the food would be delicious (90% of Chinese restaurants are in Mexicali) but I wasn't familiar with the names of dishes. We ordered the Sea Food Combination for 2pl & all 3 of us ate plenty & still had leftovers, they have Very Good Portions. It came with... Shrimp Fried Rice, Shrimp Chop Suey, Salt Pepper Calamari with Asparagus, Shrimp in Mayonnaise (it's not what you think) super yummy. We did pay extra to have the Wor Wonton Soup, because it's my favorite & OMG their broth was SPECTACULAR!!!! So flavorful. All their dishes were fresh & very tasty, the fried rice had plenty of good sized shrimp, pet peeve of mine is the fried rice with those itty bitty shrimp. I wish we had that kind of Chinese food here in San Diego... because if it wasn't for the area/border wait I would definitely go more often.

We had heard about Golden Dragon but it is a bit of a drive for us. But what the heck. Let's go for a ride give it a try. In 2 separate visits we tried a variety of items. Started with egg rolls, egg drop soup and their simple fried noodles. Egg rolls were crispy and hot seasoned great. The soup served was a nice generous portion. Broth was good. Could have used a bit more seasoning and maybe a sprinkling of green onions. But very good nonetheless. Entrees started with sweet and sour orange chicken. This chicken was breaded perfectly. Nice and lightly crunchy without being hard. The sauce was nice and orangey. Next time will try the spicy version. Chicken chop suey looked very basic but the plate was piled high. Lots of bean sprouts, cauliflower, carrots, that were very fresh and tasty. A little more chicken would have been nice. On a subsequent visit we had the pan fried chicken with the vegetable chop suey. Can't stress enough just how fresh everything was. Huge portions and great taste. Iced teas and adult beverages rounded out our meals. Fat, dumb and happy! Pricing was reasonable. Could have been more generous with the proteins but the portions were huge. Service was good. A bit of a language challenge but we managed to charade our way thru. Spanish language speakers will have no problem. And the place was very neat and clean with well maintained restrooms. Will definitely be back!

The food is pretty tasty. Portions are pretty good too just not so much with protein. Place is…read moreclean and decent. The chairs are a bit old and outdated and not so comfortable. Yet, this is our second visit and we would definitely come back again. Thank you, service is good too.

Food: 4/5 Service: 5/5…read moreAmbiance: 4/5 Parking: 3/5 Family friendly: 5/5 Stroller friendly: 5/5 Kept hearing that Mexicali has amazing Chinese food so we decided to come check it out. Dragon restaurante is up the street from the hotel we're staying at so it was a good start. I gotta say I'm pleasantly surprised. The food tasty, fresh, plentiful, fairly authentic and was quick to come out. My wife and I ordered 1/2 orders of everything. Coconut chicken ($125 MXN), somewhat l sweet with real coconut shavings on top, Mongolian beef ($170 MXN), this dish has great flavor and love the spice, veggie fried rice ($105 MXN) the fluffy kind of rice and not oily, Napa soup ($150 MXN) basically veggie broth soup that could've used a little more flavor but still yummy. Service was super fast and everyone was very helpful. The owner, I'm assuming he's the owner (older Chinese man), walked around like a politician mingling with everyone. Definitely a family friendly place that I would bring my family too. Only downside is the parking. There is about maybe 50 spaces in the parking lot and the parking spots are small. If you're in the area, give this place a visit.

Took a trip to Mexicali city just to check it out as it was on my US "bucket list" even though it's…read morein Mexico. But it qualifies as it's just across the border. I heard about the Chinese community here and wanted to check it out. Mexicali was a drab and boring city. Absolutely no tourist attractions and the remaining tenants of China town is sad, run-down and in a state of despair. My friend and I ventured here and walked in side. The have both Chinese and Mexican wait staff. The owner was a Chinese man born and raised in Mexico. He speaks fluent Spanish and married a Mexican lady. He was very nice and speaks English well. He constantly cane over to check on us. The restaurant was huge and it filled up with families and diners busily dined in. We ordered the popular chicken vegetable dish and the shrimp kung Pao. Both dishes came out and it didn't look that good but boy the portion was HUGE! A fried rice dish also came with it. The fried rice alone was like another dish you paid in the US. IT was different and had bean sprouts in it which is a first for me but it was Sooooo good! Soo good I ordered a large beef fried rice to take it back to Orange County ;) The shrimp king pao taste like any other place. It was good. I was disappointed at the chicken veggie dish at first as it looks so plain and has heaps of celery in it. The chicken meat was very weird tasting too. But man the dish agAin was HUGE! The more I ate it, the more it grew on me. I took leftovers of both dishes back and ordered the large fried rice. HUGE portions so I ate 6 servings of the fried rice and 3 servings of the other two dishes once I took it back to the US. Mexicali style Chinese food is very famous there. At first, it doesn't look that good and looks like Panda Express but the flavors are different as they added Mexican seasonings and touches to it. Overall, I love it! As a matter of fact, I've been thinking about this place at least 3 times already today. Go there !
