We had heard about Golden Dragon but it is a bit of a drive for us. But what the heck. Let's go for a ride give it a try. In 2 separate visits we tried a variety of items. Started with egg rolls, egg drop soup and their simple fried noodles. Egg rolls were crispy and hot seasoned great. The soup served was a nice generous portion. Broth was good. Could have used a bit more seasoning and maybe a sprinkling of green onions. But very good nonetheless. Entrees started with sweet and sour orange chicken. This chicken was breaded perfectly. Nice and lightly crunchy without being hard. The sauce was nice and orangey. Next time will try the spicy version. Chicken chop suey looked very basic but the plate was piled high. Lots of bean sprouts, cauliflower, carrots, that were very fresh and tasty. A little more chicken would have been nice. On a subsequent visit we had the pan fried chicken with the vegetable chop suey. Can't stress enough just how fresh everything was. Huge portions and great taste. Iced teas and adult beverages rounded out our meals. Fat, dumb and happy! Pricing was reasonable. Could have been more generous with the proteins but the portions were huge. Service was good. A bit of a language challenge but we managed to charade our way thru. Spanish language speakers will have no problem. And the place was very neat and clean with well maintained restrooms. Will definitely be back!

The food is pretty tasty. Portions are pretty good too just not so much with protein. Place is…read moreclean and decent. The chairs are a bit old and outdated and not so comfortable. Yet, this is our second visit and we would definitely come back again. Thank you, service is good too.

Short wait on a Sunday late afternoon around 2pm. We orderd #2 and H. It was way too much food for the 4 of us. We took so much food home. Really enjoyed the food. Was hoping to order Peking Duck but surprised they didnt have it on menu. Constant flow of people visiting the restaurant. Waitress really got her workout today. They have this plate called a 'Vaquita' which is an order on a huge tray covered by a plastic "box" and seemed real popular for families. We were told this is the only Chinese restaurant that has Chinese cooks. Restaurant has been operating since 1939.

After taking a walking city tour of La Chinesca, I found that I worked up an appetite and was ready to try Restaurante Victoria. One of the original spots of the historical La Chinesca. This area of Mexico has their own flavor profile compared to Chinese food found in the US or even other parts of Mexico like the well known Chinese food establishments in Tijuana. The portions are plentiful and flavorful. The service is fast and the ambience is a simple and enjoyable place to just come in and eat. Nothing elaborate or fancy. Just some good Chinesca style food where China and Mexicali fuse together deliciously!

Food: 4/5 Service: 5/5…read moreAmbiance: 4/5 Parking: 3/5 Family friendly: 5/5 Stroller friendly: 5/5 Kept hearing that Mexicali has amazing Chinese food so we decided to come check it out. Dragon restaurante is up the street from the hotel we're staying at so it was a good start. I gotta say I'm pleasantly surprised. The food tasty, fresh, plentiful, fairly authentic and was quick to come out. My wife and I ordered 1/2 orders of everything. Coconut chicken ($125 MXN), somewhat l sweet with real coconut shavings on top, Mongolian beef ($170 MXN), this dish has great flavor and love the spice, veggie fried rice ($105 MXN) the fluffy kind of rice and not oily, Napa soup ($150 MXN) basically veggie broth soup that could've used a little more flavor but still yummy. Service was super fast and everyone was very helpful. The owner, I'm assuming he's the owner (older Chinese man), walked around like a politician mingling with everyone. Definitely a family friendly place that I would bring my family too. Only downside is the parking. There is about maybe 50 spaces in the parking lot and the parking spots are small. If you're in the area, give this place a visit.

Took a trip to Mexicali city just to check it out as it was on my US "bucket list" even though it's…read morein Mexico. But it qualifies as it's just across the border. I heard about the Chinese community here and wanted to check it out. Mexicali was a drab and boring city. Absolutely no tourist attractions and the remaining tenants of China town is sad, run-down and in a state of despair. My friend and I ventured here and walked in side. The have both Chinese and Mexican wait staff. The owner was a Chinese man born and raised in Mexico. He speaks fluent Spanish and married a Mexican lady. He was very nice and speaks English well. He constantly cane over to check on us. The restaurant was huge and it filled up with families and diners busily dined in. We ordered the popular chicken vegetable dish and the shrimp kung Pao. Both dishes came out and it didn't look that good but boy the portion was HUGE! A fried rice dish also came with it. The fried rice alone was like another dish you paid in the US. IT was different and had bean sprouts in it which is a first for me but it was Sooooo good! Soo good I ordered a large beef fried rice to take it back to Orange County ;) The shrimp king pao taste like any other place. It was good. I was disappointed at the chicken veggie dish at first as it looks so plain and has heaps of celery in it. The chicken meat was very weird tasting too. But man the dish agAin was HUGE! The more I ate it, the more it grew on me. I took leftovers of both dishes back and ordered the large fried rice. HUGE portions so I ate 6 servings of the fried rice and 3 servings of the other two dishes once I took it back to the US. Mexicali style Chinese food is very famous there. At first, it doesn't look that good and looks like Panda Express but the flavors are different as they added Mexican seasonings and touches to it. Overall, I love it! As a matter of fact, I've been thinking about this place at least 3 times already today. Go there !

We visit Mexicali a couple times a year making this place a must before we head back home. The best thing is the amazing prices and the quantity of food in return. I absolutely love the fried rice with red pork pieces, I can guarantee you I have not had anything like this. The orange chicken is to die for, it is crispy yet soft in the inside with a great amount of sauce to keep it crunchy. The best of this place is the iced tea, it is amazing! This tea is very refreshing and can almost guarantee it is homemade. This last visit was a bit longer than the usual as it was a Sunday afternoon and there was a full house. Never had I seen the place this packed, specially since our visits are on lunch hour weekdays. However Service is always great and friendly. I strongly encourage parties of two or more to do the special/combinations which come in a fairly substantial portion.
