Our first night in the area and unsure where to eat, I pulled out my Yelp app and started doing…read moresome research. The first few places seemed to be closed (it was a Sunday night) but eventually I found The Farm which sounded solid and looked cute in the pictures. We grabbed an uber with our friends who dropped us "as close as he could get" and we found our way using Google Maps down the pedestrian only areas of town. This was maybe 7:30pm for dinner, which in Spanish time is not the time for dinner, so we had the place to ourselves for an hour or so. We did dine outside on the upper level patio, which was extra charming, and not at all an issue as blankets were provided and there was also a standing heater. My husband, the self-proclaimed biggest fan of Iberico anything, got straight into ordering and I think had at least 4 plates of jamon sent to the table before we cut him off. We finally convinced him to do the Farmer's Tapas plate to add some cheese into our lives. The kitchen also sent out out some absolutely delicious olives and hummus as a snack. Our server "Stefan" (I totally made up that name for him btw because he was Swedish lol) was absolutely amazing. We loved interacting with him, getting his wine recommendations (they were fabulous) and really could have spent a much longer time here just because of him. He's awesome! The one drawback (for some) might be the menu here, which is slightly limited, but I had faith that this meant the kitchen had perfected these dishes, and I was right. After all the light bites to start I was pretty full and opted for the Beet Carpaccio as a main, which was just the right size and light enough for me to steal a few bites of other's food. The Ox Tail in Blueberry Sauce was delightful as was the Paella. Seriously cute place in the area which shouldn't be overlooked.

Hubs noticed Santiago during one of our beach days at Playa de Venus and vowed to return as a final dinner to celebrate my birthday. And when he looked at the menu, it was a go. Striking interior design with light woods, whites and navy accents set themselves apart from the restaurants on the Avenida Duque de Ahumada strip. Without a reservation, it was no issue and seated outside. Servers were all in attendance and worked jointly. The menu offers Starters, Soups, Salads, Rice, Seafood- of course, meats, Desserts, etc with exquisite taste. The €55 a kilo price on the menu for Centollo (Spider Crab) we ordered was incorrect. Newer and market price is currently €155 per kilo. But I must say, that spider crab dish is the best I've eaten in my life and prepared with a savory cream sauce in the crab's cavity. The only thing that would've made me more happy is ordering more bread and dunking it in the sauce- but I have to consider my surroundings. The only nit-pick we had is that their paella isn't served in the pan like we're used to but instead plated for you. It's very good though. To round out my birthday dinner, hubs ordered a cheesecake on the sly with halved nectarines in a sweet and silky syrup that was delicious. We enjoyed it all.

My main course is the spider crab, steamed with garlic, olive oil and onions on the side , hubby ordered sea bass baked in sea salt, now paired with viña Ardanza from Rioja, absolutely delightful. The restaurant is surrounded with tempered glass, carajillo and home-made flan for desert. Words cannot describe the satisfaction of enjoying an awesome meal facing the Mediterranean Sea!! My father ordered a.plate which was supposed to have 3 different pieces of bonito and only 2 were served. We had to ask for the full plate. My Mum and I ordered lobster which had a set price per person listed in the menu. They charged 3 times the price and when asking the reason for it they argued about the weight of the lobster and other things. Their argument didn't hold as each person we spoke to said something different. Misinformation in the menu is something that can get you into trouble. Careful Lobito De Mar! Finally I ordered pineapple for dessert, explicitly asking for it to be plain and they served it with a yogurt sauce. Bad experience overall.

I was quite glad they did…read moreas it kept popping up on all my foodie guides as a must check out, and the pictures looked fabulous. Let's be honest from the get go, this was a NYE pre-set menu, which means there's going to be some hiccups, some things may not be as good as they would be on a regular night etc, but overall I was extremely impressed! The outdoor courtyard seating looked fabulous, but I guess due to the slightly chilly winter season they were not utilizing it. Instead we were shown to our corner table to accommodate our group of 10. Service started immediately and there were some issues here, mostly with many of the wine options not being available (a bit annoying when they are using an easy to change iPad for their wine list) so most of use felt pretty pressured into getting the wine pairing option with dinner, which sadly wasn't a great pairing in my opinion, but alas we found some decent bottles to wash down the pairings with. Dinner started with some light bites and champagne. And oyster "shooter" over frozen tomato puree, a consume, some caviar, some ceviche etc. Most of which was quite good and served beautifully. The first real course was a prawn tartare which was really outstanding, and luckily for me some of the group refused to eat, which meant I got extra! That course was followed by a Foie Gras soup which I found a hair too earthy, but overall was still outstanding and well executed. Our first larger main was a piece of cooked Red Tuna, which was absolutely amazing, and that's coming from a girl who hates cooked tuna. Paired with some sort of nut butter/cream, I'm starting to think is the key to cooked tuna. The mains were rounded out by a piece of steak which appeared slightly overcooked, but was still tender and tasty. Dinner was finalized by two dessert courses, none of which overwhelmed me, but honestly I was a bit full at this point. We did plan to head to the main square after dinner, but found the square right outside the restaurant to be jammed with people in quite the party mood so we stayed there instead, which was helpful as we could then use the bathroom at this restaurant. I will note, the other issue I had was the tiny bathroom whose door didn't lock, which made for an eventful evening with a packed restaurant.

No recycling, use of single use plastics and a staff lying about tap water = 1* Review!…read more The place is yes very photogenic and has good food and drinks but the blatant disregard for the environment in nearly every way has driven me to make this post, this resort has not one recycling bin! I have seen staff giving guests up to three towels per person for no real reason at all. My biggest grievances however came from staff comments about the tap water not being drinkable! However when you research the local .gov page I find out that it is completely safe to drink, a blatant lie to encourage purchase of wasteful purchase of plastic bottles! Rather than supplying reusable filtered glass bottles as is the norm! To add to this when sitting outside less than 5 meters from the bar we were served with the attached photo. With no recycling bin in site and put directly into the trash after using, this is disgraceful and I intent to comment to the hotel manager.
