They certainly serve some tasty espresso! I enjoyed it almost every day I was here! They also have fresh pastries that seem to change each day. We tried a coconut bun of some kind which was decadently delicious! My only warning is, searching for the word Nude in Yelp will not bring up this fine, reputable establishment. Always love a good coffee, and when your Aussie friends tell you about a place you must try... You Must Try it! Nude coffee is a lovely place at spitalsfield, Main Street with lots of seating. Comfortable and clean environment. Not a big menu, but what else do you need besides coffee?! Anyway. The coffee here is quite good. Right at Hanbury street, the magic street where surprises are existing besides Brick Lane. Location: located on Hanbury street, there are actually two Nude Espresso spots. I was at the one with the red door. They have inside seatings as well as outdoor seatings. I love Nude espresso because they decorated well. Coffee: coffee culture is definitely not the same as American's coffee culture. In fact, they are more fluent in latte art, in coffee science and some magic tricks. I mean, srsly, what is Piscollo ? It means... espresso with milk,,, but how come it is not macchiato? Their latte art is awesome, the way they made it is different from how we made in USA. They have a roastery and the cafe across the street from each other in Shoreditch. The cafe has some tasty looking pastries, but I was in a rush so only got a cappuccino. It was fine, nothing special. Department of Coffee & Social Affairs is better, but you can sit a spell and get some work done at Nude. read more

I'm sure there are plenty of good coffees to be had in London but it took us a trip all the way out to Shoreditch to get a cup. The scene here is similar to that of any hipster coffee shops in the States (think Portland or SF) but coffee was as good as it gets. The hubs is obsessed with finding good coffee whenever we visit new other cities and I think he was content here. The place gets packed but the workers were prompt in clearing up tables so the next patron can sit. The flat white (I'm sure there is a distinct difference however for me it was pretty much a small latte) was velvety smooth and certainly hit the spot since it was a cold and drizzly afternoon. I'd like to go back the next time I'm in London. read more

I love Shoreditch with its varied choice of eatery, and good coffee and this place did not disappoint. Settings in an open warehouse feel, which I really like. Open and airy. Ordered a flat white sheet they mixed the sugar in already for you.. Rich and smooth no bitter taste at all that's when you know your drinking good coffee.. They also do coffee to take home and lesson on how to be a barista in your own home... Check out the pictures as I took a picture for more info of you are interested. I was wandering around on a day off, looking for a coffee shop and the Yelp app guided me there. Initially I just saw the big space they have which they use for trainings I think, across the road, which looked a bit impersonal but then I saw the smaller coffee shop so walked in. I ordered a flat white, and as the cakes they had on offer looked good I ordered a chocolate & orange one, which was really tasty. I don't call myself a coffee specialist but I liked the blend they use, so this was a good point as I've sometimes been disappointed by the quality of coffee in coffee shops. Maybe a warmer decor would make the place perfect but this is just a tiny details which does't take anything away from the quality of this place. I sat there reading for about 1h I think. The place was quiet which was really enjoyable! I think this is a good alternative to maybe busier coffee shops on Brick lane or Spitalfields. read more

One of my favourite coffee shops off of Brick Lane, and my friends know that I am obsessed with finding good coffee wherever I live. This may not have been the first one I visited when I moved to the Big Smoke in September, but it is definitely the one I return to frequently. The staff are friendly (although on my first visit I will admit they didn't come off as very sociable), and the coffee is delightful! I'm also a huge fan of their toasted banana bread with honeycomb butter (and it tastes divine wrapped in crispy bacon). If you are looking for a place to have a good coffee and sit down in a comfortable cafe, this is the place to go. They also have a roastery near Upstreet Market, where you can pop in for a take-away coffee while taking in the aromas of their freshly roasted beans. read more

I love Shoreditch. Found Nude Espresso while wandering around looking for pay day brunch. Walked into their coffee house 1st, which was a very industrial open space where they roast their beans. They only do coffee and cakes so they directed me to the cafe across the road. Very convenient. The cafe was nice and open, and greeted with yummy counter full of cakes. Great menu. Was tempted by the banana bread with honeycomb butter. As I was after brunch ordered poached eggs with sausage, halloumi and hollandaise sauce. Was delicious and can't go wrong with halloumi. Would defiantly go back to the cafe or try the coffee house across the road. Cafe was really cozy just to pass some time doing some work or reading. read more

Being a big coffee drinker, here is my opinion about Nude. Coffee - I ordered a flat white - very nice, but slightly on the milky side. Coffee could have been a little stronger. But overall I thought it was nice and smooth. Muesli w fruit and honey - the yoghurt wasn't thick and was quite runny. Nothing special about the muesli itself and it came with some berries and fruit. Blueberry pancakes - was a little burnt and a little too sweet. Too sugary and not too much flavour. Service - the muesli came out quite quickly and the kitchen staff forgot that we ordered pancakes. We had to wait 20 mins for it to get prepared. There was a long line up when we got there for brunch on Sunday. Price - Reasonably priced Overall, I thought this place was reasonable, nothing to rave on about, but i would go there again if i had to. I would like to try some more food from there. read more

This place is pretty good. Can't speak for the coffee (I know, I know, who goes to a coffee shop for things other than coffee) but I've had a few other things here that were pretty good. Location is great, space is cute, and I think they have free internet. Downside is that it's overpriced and the baristas are snotty. Wonderful location and great little space. Unfortunately, after trying their flat whites a couple of times I can only think, 'Nude Espresso? Oh, it's OK.' I'm one who likes a good kick in the mouth when it comes to coffee (though please don't burn it!), but I am happy to have some smooth cuppas every now and then. I found Nude's flat white to be too milky, leaving that sticky, sort of fatty after taste after each sip. Honestly, not ideal. I also tried some cake, though I can't remember what the flavour was. I do remember finding it dry and very disappointing. I've only been able to visit the shop during the weekends, so I'm not sure whether it's just extra busy on Saturdays, but it was very hard to relax and have a nice chat. The place was full of buzz, but perhaps the space is so small that all the noises just kept amplifying and forcing us to shout so we could hear what we were saying. I'm keen to try the food on a calmer morning, but at the moment, I'd much rather sit by the window of the roastery across the street...in peace! read more

Hello coffee, my lover, my friend... I like Nude Espresso, and they make a damn fine cup of coffee. They also seem to have a new roastery open around the corner which serves up a killer filter cup (so I've heard) but here at NE Hanbury Street it's just Americanos. That disappointed me slightly but did not deter me from choosing this place for my caffeine fix. I like NE, they have a relaxed arty vibe with a few business folk from Liverpool Street spilling in. But the atmosphere blend is pleasant. Now don't go thinking because I have three starred this place it's crap. It's not, it's just not my favourite and I wouldn't jump on my bike and make the 20 minute cycle here for a cup of coffee. (Yes, I have been know to do that at other places before) As for their food, it looks lovely and I'm bookmarking this place to go back for some lunch and cake, all of which looks homemade. On a final note, I love their tip jar, Dolly or Elvis... take a look and you'll see what I mean. I vote team Dolly! read more

I'm shocked that this place doesn't have an overall star rating of at least 4 stars. It's extremely popular for a reason. The baristas are proper baristas, who know how to pour a latte, a cap, and a macchiato. For SF ex-pats longing for that perfect cup a la Ritual Roasters or Blue Bottle, look no further. This is it. Their macchiato was smooth, silky, and strong, with the perfect amount of milk. The aftertaste lingered pleasantly for a good 20 minutes - faintly caramel, sweet, no bitterness or sourness. The most amazing part was the speed with which they crank out the coffees. in the time it would take a primadonna artiste at Blue Bottle to make one latte, the Nude barista duo cranked out half a dozen. It was pretty amazing to watch. At £2 for a macchiato, it isn't cheap, but as they say, you get what you pay for. For all the folks who don't care what they drink, there's always the Starbucks down the street. read more

Great coffee and food, but slightly confusing. First, the coffee, since that's the best reason for coming here. It's very good. Their espresso is rich and flavorful, but balanced; the house blend doesn't have quite as much depth as Monmouth's, but it's still plenty rich and has better top notes (to my palate, anyway). The only issue was that my wife's latte was served kind of lukewarm, like the milk had sat in the pitcher after a previous shot was pulled and not reheated. Or something. The food was also really tasty - we had banana bread and porridge with fruit compote. The banana bread was perfectly toasted on the outside, perfectly soft in the middle, and I could have eaten 4 more slices. It seemed a little expensive at £6 for two slices, but I'd say it was worth it for a treat. The porridge was also delicious, probably even better than the banana bread, with sweet-tart compote and excellent oats. No complaints about the food. The only minor downsides were the cold breeze that rushed in frequently as people shuffled in and out and the confusion around seating. In most coffee shops, you come in, order at the counter, and sit anywhere. Here, it seems like you might be able to do that, or you can get table service in the back, but the dividing line is not clear. We wandered in, started to try to order at the counter, and instead a passing barista (waiter?) directed us to a table. Oh. Okay? This is obviously not a big deal, it just made us feel like we should order actual food instead of just coffee. Maybe this is the intent? In any case, some kind of small touch like a sign saying "please wait here" between the self-serve and table-service areas would be nice, if only to help out easily-confused morons like me. Overall, it deserves 4.5 stars for the food and coffee, but I'm rounding down to 4 for the slight oddness pending a return trip. read more

I'm a bit divided about this place. The coffee is really good - well made espresso using proper beans, and lattes and cappuccinos that have just the right amount of milk and froth and still taste strong. They're all around £2, about the same price as most places in this area. They also have an enticing choice of cakes and sandwiches laid out. The cookie I had (£1.20) was big and tasted like it'd just been baked - all crisp on the outside and soft and doughy inside. The paninis looked well made, with good quality bread and filling ingredients nicely balanced. But on the down side these sandwiches are close to five pounds, taking the total bill for lunch up to near a tenner. To me, this seems like a bit too much to be paying for lunch on a regular basis and would put me off coming here more often. I'd rather go somewhere that had slightly more basic food but at a lower price. The décor is stylish and would appeal to a lot of design conscious brick lane types. But everything feels a bit clinical and the hard, slightly cramped seating doesn't really invite you to lounge around for long. I'd prefer somewhere a bit less fashionable, but with more individual character and a sense of cosiness. Brick Lane Coffee springs to mind. So overall, I'd say it's good for grabbing a quick coffee but bad if you want to eat or hang out for a while in comfort. read more

You wouldn't think you could be in the way of a server looking to drop off dirty dishes AND another server looking to pick up table cutlery at the same time, but you'd be wrong. Had to pop in because of the name really. Was walking down the very hipster Hanbury Street to go to a meeting at Second Home and saw this on the way, so decided to drop by after. Had a decaf latte since I'm very sensitive to caffeine (turns out I can't even drink decaf now which makes me sad!) They were just closing but still served me in a to-go cup. The venue is small with wooden benches, there were a few people working on laptops in there. There's actually what looks like their coffee roaster factory opposite and they were offering free tastings that evening. Definitely a cool little coffee shop if you're in Shoreditch area. read more

Very nice, little place, just around the corner from my office. I have heard of the place, but never tried until today. The minute the coffee arrives at the table, the dark colour smells of "English cappuccino" (which is my personal definition for too much espresso)...but I probably will have to stop ranting about that, before I start getting enemies. Interestingly enough, it's not as strong as it looks. Their coffee is very good and the place has a nice atmosphere...with a few minor reservations--Bubbles in my coffee, probably due to imbalance between portion of milk and coffee, a bit of paper tissue toasted and merged with my sandwich... And a certain lack of original character to the coffee, which surprised me. Nevertheless, its a good place to which I am sure I'll come back. read more

This was my favourite coffee shop in London but there are so many to choose from nowadays and it's fallen down the list. Coffee is still really good and we still buy our beans from them. Just not as kid friendly as other places so we don't stay for coffee and food. Coffee to go is fine but we tend to go across the road to their roastery for that as it's a bit more roomy. Australians. Australians everywhere. Fortunately, in my honest (biased) opinion, Australians make the best coffee both sides of the equator. I'm loving the fact I can order a long black everywhere now, not just in the great southern land. And this place does it WELL. Very well. The long black I had here was the best I've had in London. Unfortunately, I experienced the store dealing with the relentless post-brunch takeaway crowd and it didn't handle THAT very well. I got my delicious coffee eventually, but during my extended wait I was forced to direct customers where to line-up, where to order, where to wait and only because I'd been in the store for so long I'd clocked the confusing inner workings and was sick of seeing people walk in and just stand around. I don't like feeling like an employee on my first trip somewhere. But I do like a flawless long black. I'll probably still come back. read more

One of many good places for coffee around East London. It is perhaps not quality wise the best however they do know how to make an espresso and they are very friendly. They also have their own roastery around the corner (great to visit to sample their full range - they also make pour-overs there). If you find yourself at the Sunday Upmarket and feel like a coffee this is the place to go. I stopped in today for an espresso and, at the reco of my friend, I ordered a 'white espresso.' It wasn't bad, though i don't think I'd order one again. Anyway, the vibe here is spot on - quick to take your order, yet laid back enough to relax for a chat will you sip your caffeine. The pastries looked quite good, and I was tempted to order the sundried tomato scone, but panicked because of the growing line and just walked away with the coffee. I wouldn't say that this place is to-do-for amazing, but it's reasonably priced and worthy of supporting if you're in the area and looking for a coffee. As a bonus, however, each bag of beans purchased allows you one free cup! read more

I walked past Nude Espresso a couple of times, but it always looked very small and very busy. Since I actually was at Nude Espresso in East London a few weeks ago, I do not know why I always thought it is small - it's not. For a coffee shop, it is actually pretty big. Nude Espresso just off Brick Lane in East London is a great coffee place to enjoy a cup or two. Being a micro-roastery and a coffee shop, Nude Espresso is for sure one of the best places for a coffee around Brick Lane. Besides coffee, they also do food, and they do the food as well as they do the coffee. What else to say? Not much! If you like coffee and haven't been to Nude Espresso yet, should should definitely pay it a visit. On a side note, Nude Espresso also supplied the #guardiancoffee pop-up at Boxpark in Shoreditch, not far from this branch. read more

Nude Espresso is amongst the pioneering cafes that are bringing quality coffee to a city in need. First of all, I really admire any café that is helping that cause. The baristas are well trained, and really care about what they are doing. I was excited to find this place by chance, rather than hearing about it from my coffee nerd friends. In order to really get a feel for the blend that they use, I decided to order an ristretto. Although it was a tiny bit over-extracted, the taste was great and I gave it the thumbs up. The food menu looks good, but as I discovered this place after just having lunch, I didn't get to try anything. Its location, on the quaint strip known as Hanbury Street, is ideally placed between Brick Lane and Spitalfield Market. This place provide coffee as an art. Always beautifully presented, I once saw them disregard a cappuccino as it didn't look pretty enough. Aside from the lovely coffee, they don't provide the largest sizes. They would probably argue that they don't need to, but for me half the joy of a coffee is that is is supposed to be a break. It's usually gone in a moment. Secondly, I always find it far too over crowded and the waiting team seem a bit haphazard, which lets them down. Pity really. read more

I've heard amazing things about Nude Espresso for a long time and finally I was in the neighbourhood to try a cup. Oh. My. Wow. I'm pretty picky when it comes to coffee, but it's easily one of the best cups of coffee I have had this year. Make an effort to get there ASAP. I haven't purchased their beans to try at home yet, so my review is solely of their Bonsoy latte! There was also mention of availability of vegan options, so if you dig a plant based diet then there are apparently food options on offer. So I finally made it to Nude Espresso and was not impressed. I walked up to the counter and was ignored for about five minutes while a few orders for other tables were being prepared (and when I say ignored I mean that not one of the three people behind the counter even bothered to say hello). The espresso I had was ok but not mind blowing. I needed the ladies room and was directed towards what turned out to be rather disgusting loos - smelly and dark due to broken light bulbs not being replaced. And to top it off, those who suffer from suriphobia will be delighted to know that you will be greeted by a bright green mouse trap when you walk down the spiral staircase that leads to the aforementioned loos. The management might consider finding a less visible location for the trap. So, the coffee was ok but everything else was second rate. I won't be raring to come back here anytime soon. Too much competition out there to have to put up with awful service and facilities. read more
