Being that it's an old train station, you can tell there's a lot of history within the building. We loved everything about our breakfast, I ordered the biscuits and gravy along with a side of sausage and hash browns. Everything is made to order so be prepared to wait a moment for your food to come out - I wish we knew this ahead of time so we coulda called in our order. My husband had the steak and eggs and swapped his grits for hash browns. My daughter ordered a pancake meal and she actually ate everything! She said it was some of the best pancakes she's ever had. We will definitely be back!!

We were not disappointed. We got there 30 min before closing because we looked on google and it said they close at 6 when really they close at 1:30 They were very kind. The food was delicious. We both got a burger & potato salad. My husband burger was missing the egg so they immediately took it back and fixed it. The ambiance of the place is so nostalgic. Love the train station setting. We sat next to the window and could see the train tracks. We will return!

I ordered the half slab of ribs to try with the different BBQ sauces but I only tried the mild and the JByrds juice because I don't really care for sweet bbq sauce. The ribs come without sauce and they were cooked tender with just enough hold onto the bone for chewing. I'm a TEXAS girl with a strange taste for Sonny's bbq but it's nice to know there is a BBQ restaurant right near me in the small town of Roberta Ga. that I can get good ribs and I liked my chili cheese dog with onion as well. The chili seemed to have a sweet taste to it but I liked it. They have Coke products which is a plus if I choose to drink a soda and they also have sweet tea to represent the southern taste. I will definitely be back to check out the BBQ chicken and Brisket sometime soon. Nice to have a restaurant where I can watch carb intake by eating meat which I can make my own veggies to go with it at home. I wish it had a warmer atmosphere inside and a bit friendlier or should I say more outgoing when ordering. The prices are a bit high but they are everywhere so I will support this business and I'm glad they are here in our small town of Roberta.

Stopped here on the road from Savannah to Atlanta for some authentic shrimp and grits…read more Appetizer fried green tomatoes were DELICIOUS! We've been fried green tomato'ing it across Georgia and loving them. This simple looking plate was exceptionally seasoned, perhaps the tomatoes were even marinated. There was just so much flavor! So - the shrimp and grits! These were Cajun/creole style so not traditional but very tasty! Hard to describe the sauce - maybe a bit smokey, a bit sweet. I don't know the flavors I was tasting. It wasn't punch your face flavor but a well-crafted smooth full flavored bite! The sausage in it particularly stood out! Delicious! Hubby had the shrimp Po Boy, and wow! Honestly, it was even better! Large shrimp, really well seasoned and crusted with cornmeal batter. The bread roll was the best! Soft, tasty, just made the Po Boy easy to eat, unlike most who just throw the shrimp on a chewy cut of French bread. This was truly superior! And the side of beans and rice?? Best best best evahhhh! The service was really good. Pleasant and knowledgeable staff. EXCEPT: Why were the grits served to me with grits dripping off the side of the bowl? The server even turned the dripping side towards me and placed it in front of me like that. I took a napkin and started cleaning the bowl so the grits wouldn't accidentally touch my dress, and the server just watched. Didn't offer to clean it or replace it. I was a server in another life. I know that isn't acceptable. I don't serve friends and family a plate or bowl that's dripping off the side. I don't expect that at restaurant. But, I consider it a one off. Mistakes happen. I cleaned. I ate it. And the grits were good. Atmosphere: The place was dark and sexy. Cool atmosphere. But I had to knock it several stars for the women's bathroom. In addition to it generally being basic. Not "dirt" but not clean feeling. A giant tile was missing from the ceiling directly over the toilet! Talk about feeling naked and like someone is spying on you! I couldn't wait to get out of there! It's clear that there is maintenance needed in the ceiling and that's why the tile is missing. But no good reason why they can't put a cloth cover or some kind of screen to cover the hole. It is entirely uncomfortable and unacceptable. Hopefully that issue will be fixed soon. And they will also take the time to upgrade the bathroom feeling - nice soap, luxurious paper hand towels, deep clean the floor and walls. Then the entire restaurant will be cohesive, elegant, sexy, cool.

So on our way back from visiting friends at Lake Lanier, I as the passenger + navigator said..hmmm...we need a break but let's find soul food. I said. Who goes thru Macon and dont eat good. Not me. So, I hit Yelp. Then I asked AI. Claude. Claude gave me a list and there was the H! So we drove 20 minutes out the way. Best detour ever! Go early. Buy an extra meal for home. I gladly dropped my cash. ..salmon cakes made me cry....everything was off the chain. Well, I had my good juju on, I sat on a bench with a 30 year veteran of this place. She talked my ear off, what a delight. So the place is decked out in Allman brothers memorbilia. It was their early haunt as they rose to fame. Well the founder, older blk lady is dead. Her family smartly sold out to corporate. But it was worth it. They maintained all thats good. Even the tiny old bathrooms. Need an update for sure. But. .Definitely worth the visit. Parking was horrible! So go early! Now, you need to go by Macon cemetery. See Allman burial, civil war places. I want to explore Macon more now! Well, as we drove home, around Jacksonville, I reached in the back seat. No fork. Just a smile. Yes i fed my driver. Salmon cakes hit on all cylinders. Sadly the two meat plate left off my meat, turkey. But forgiven. I should have checked my to go order. Never trust. Always verify. Broke my own rules! Stop by. Soak up history, flavors in this quaint cafeteria style. Nothing fancy. Just pure delight!
