I decided on this place since it was near a festival in Carolyn Crayton Park we were planning to attend and a National Park nearby. There are several locations and they've been open since 1910 so I figured it must be decent. The cashier was neither rude or friendly, but seemed indifferent. We placed an order for a hot dog combo. We got it with all the toppings, chili and mustard, and with a side of fries. The food came out quickly. There was plenty of seating, but the entire place was a bit cramped with sticky tabletops. The chili was good, but the hot dog was very mediocre with an unnaturally red coloring. The fries were good, but could've used more salt, available on the tables. The parking situation was fine. Stopped in for a quick to go breakfast while traveling. Wifey ordered a country ham & egg biscuit, said it was a good one. I got a sausage patty biscuit, noticed they toasted the inside of the slices (no soggy bread). Nice size sandwich for traveling...not huge and heavy. Server was pleasant and helpful, delivered our meal with a smile. It definitely has a diner feel. Tables were clean, floor not so much. But that's often the case with high traffic businesses. I have discovered the greatness that is Nu-Way Weiners. There is no pretense here. These folks are interested in doing one thing: serving up some delicious weiners. The weiners are private-label: spicy red, made with pork and beef, and they are delicious. Top this with some cheese and chili (secret recipe), and you have a crowd pleaser. Add some slaw, and you have a work of art that only the discriminating connoisseur of weiners can understand. That chili is very similar to a Cincinnati chili. It's got a sweet hint alongside the savory goodness. I would readily put the Nu-Way chili-dog up against Atlanta's beloved purveyor of chili-dogs. I volunteer to do a side-by-side taste test between the two. The people who work here know that they're standing on top of the baddest weiner operation in our great nation. But they don't let that go to their heads. They're proud to serve you--to make sure you're happy with your weiners and the beverage of your choice. That beverage, by the way, is served on flaked ice. And a large coke is large enough for you to climb in and do a backstroke. The interior is simple. No frills. The focus is on inexpensive, quality, delicious food. Gather here and enjoy. Hotdogs are one of those foods that everyone knows is really bad for you, but somehow, we all collectively don't really seem to care. I know, I know... Your college roommate swore off hotdogs, can't even use the word nitrate in a sentence without gagging, and anybody even marginally older than a millennial remembers the famous line from the movie The Great Outdoors that dealt with the ingredients of your average hotdog. But this place was actually really awesome, and for a quick stop sometime between breakfast and late lunch, everybody found something on the menu that they could stomach. In truth, we sort of just wildly ordered off the menu: chili dogs, slaw dogs, cheese, and a bunch of fries. Fountain drinks kept the salty at bay, and the order came up pretty quickly. in our native Southern California, Wienerschnitzel has been a mainstay for decades, and the now defunct Pup & Taco was our go to for hotdogs in the 80s. Truth be told, I have no idea if this is a chain or what, but we all had a giggle as a family having hotdogs as a vacation meal, laughing for a good 10 miles that despite everyone enjoying it, we vowed never to speak of it again... I guess I broke that promise with this yelp review, but it's for a good cause, and a good community. Sad thing is I have not found a decent Slaw-Dog in Southern California. Yet. Stopped by because we heard this was a Macon institution that's been around for over 100 years and that it has the best hot dogs in the States. We got the hot dog all the way (comes with chili, mustard and raw onions) and a plain hot dog. The hot dog is a bright pink red color. The most unique thing about the hot dog is the color of it. The all the way dog was really salty. The chili was overwhelming and I didn't particularly care for it. The hot dog itself is on the thinner side and is firm. The hot dog is brightly colored on the outside while the middle is almost white so it looks a bit strange. Perhaps it was the hype but the only thing about my-way dogs that stood out to me was the unique color. 10 locations in Georgia but the original one burned down a couple of years ago and they're still in the process of "rebuilding" it. We heard the recommendations to try Nu-Way while in Macon, and while most of the time we are driving through, today we were enjoying a day trip to the city so decided to finally see what the hype was about. Atmosphere- typical fast food feel and while not crowded with seating, it felt comfortable. Lots of pictures and articles throughout the restaurant to see the history and the early restaurants from the 30s and 70s. This particular location has been around since the late 70s. Overall it was fun to look at all the photos while eating. Customer service- this is my 5 stars. I know fast food usually is iffy but the service here was amazing. We are first time visitors and Judith took the time to explain and answer our questions despite the quick service feel throughout. We ended up having a small mistake with our order but she quickly apologized, and fixed promptly and delivered to our table. She was professional and polite and made sure we had the best experience. This made the difference for us. Thank you, Judith and team for a solid service win. Food- you can't mistake the bright pink hot dogs served and while your sight senses may be fooled, the food is pretty good. It isn't meant to be gourmet but I got a kick out of the color and EVERYTHING tasted delicious. We had the Combo #3 (on Th, F, Sat) which was 3 hot dogs, or 3 hamburgers with a small fry and a regular drink. Your drink is huge and features the famous flaky ice. I can't imagine what the mega is. We ended up with chili cheese slaw and were able to swap our third dog for a burger. There is someone to be said for classic food stand cuisine and this is it. Nothing fancy. Just decent food. This won't help your biometrics so don't go before you have your annual physical. However, for a day trip for a quick bite, cheap treat- this fit our needs perfectly. This was a wonderful experience. I had been there b4 but this was exceptional visit. I had come into remission and this was my 1st meal in 3 days. Jaylin (cook), Christy (manager) and Destiny (front counter) were very nice and accommodating. Jaylin (sp) cooked me a chili cheese burger w onions, pickles and extra cheese. Extra crispy onion rings. I ate the food in my car and had to go back and tell Jaylin how wonderful the food was. I then spoke to manager Christy, who happens to be Jaylin's mum, but no matter I told her she raised a good young man. He was very polite to me and was so happy when I told him the meal was Wonderful. Destiny was very helpful at the register as I have trouble reading the menu in the wall. I highly recommend this fast food restaurant whenever you are in the area. Their chili cheese dog is equally as good Onion rings extra crispy are the best I've ever had The prices are very reasonable as well. Ask for Jaylin when you go. In 1916, Greek American James Wallis opened Nu-Way Weiners (yes they spell it that way) in 1916, and there it remains, growing into a mini chain in mid-Georgia, that even Oprah pronounces as one of "her best." Nu Way was established the same year as Nathan's on Coney Island, making it the 2nd oldest hot dog shop in the US. I don't know what it is about Greek/Americans/immigrants that they gravitate to the coney island style hot dog, but gravitate they do, in the instances of the ones in Minnesota, Illinois, Ohio, and Michigan, at least. The Nu-Way is proprietary dog, maybe 10 or 12 to a pound, skinless, and bright red in color. Their coney sauce is beef, seasonings, and chopped white onion, and is less on the 'sweet' side than Skyline or Gold Star (and less on the sweet side is my preference, it means there doesn't appear to be sugar or cinnamon-like flavors in it, leaning more towards a pure "beefy taste". The sauce is wet, to manhandling the buns (ok, stop that) is a necessity. Nu-Way has easily moved into my top 5 favorite coney dogs in the country, and I wish I could be in that part of the country more often. Check out their all day menu. read more

Service staff was not pleasant and food was mediocre at best. Hot dogs are their main item so thats what we got, and they were clearly just cheap grocery store dogs, pre frozen. Chili was very low quality, the slaw tasted fresh. Fries were bland and nothing special. We went out of our way on a road trip based on reviews and I'd just urge you not to make the same mistake. read more

Very interesting take on a hotdog- a New Yorker I stopped by Macon Georgia on my way to New Orleans Louisiana. And my friend said I had to try this hot dog joint. I was not expecting for the hotdog to be a mix between pork and beef. Also the color of the hotdog kind of threw me off as it's a bright pink. New way has the best hot dogs in the world it's a shame that the people that work there not all of them but there's that just enough to just make you not want to go back when the lady sits there and talk to somebody in the Drive-Thru I don't mind I don't mind being patient at all but to sit there for probably five or six minutes carrying on a personal conversation is still fine with me I wasn't in a hurry even if I was you know what I mean but when you're done and I pull up the window and you don't and you shut it and turn around and walk away in 2 minutes later nobody's came back to that window that's a problem that's a major problem and if the owner wants to run his business like that it doesn't matter how good the food is I'm not going so that's what I mean it's a shame you have people ruin such good things but they sure have today and I hope they're satisfied with their self but some people say that's the way things are well they may be but it's not the way I'm going to put up with it read more

Right off of interstate I-16 and easy to get to. It's an older location and so there isn't much flash. They do not have a bathroom. All the way is the only way. Their fries can be hit or miss. Sometimes overcooked. read more

This location has been open since 1972. It's open later than most other Nu-Way locations, but note that inside dining shuts down an hour before closing - only the drive-thru is open after that. (They don't seem to have a problem with people walking up to the drive-thru window. This is also super close to the highway, and probably the easiest location to hit if you're driving thru Macon headed somewhere else. Their hot dog "all the way" includes chili, onions, and mustard. You don't see the bright red hot dogs much anymore, but you will find them here. Nice, greasy dogs are served here, and the prices are great. It doesn't seem like anything particularly special for those not raised on Nu-Way dogs, but it's a fun atmosphere. read more

Well not only did they get my order completely wrong it just was not good at all. I asked for a meal #1 as a double cheeseburger and 1: they did not get that right 2: they gave me a kiddie box meal instead.. I was really excited to try this place but super disappointed. The hot dog was not even good and tasted like a boiled hot dog (which it probably was) and fries had absolutely no flavor at all. The tator tots and chicken nuggets were average.
