Cook out! Where have you been all of my life????? Yooo, I have never been to a Cook Out until this week and I loved it so much I went back! So first, because of COVID, I don't believe you can go inside, everything is through the drive-thru. As someone who's never been there before, it was a little overwhelming because they've got a huge menu. So I decided to do the barbeque plate. Why is it so cheap? $4.39 for BBQ, coleslaw, hush puppies and fries? I couldn't imagine paying so little, but I did. I also got a Snickers Milkshake which was bomb. Oh, and they have white cheddar cheese curds there. Do yourself a favor and get some. Now with the curds. IDK if this is a Georgia thing, but I like mine with marinara and they didn't have any. So I had to get ranch, but really they didn't need it. They are fire all by themselves. The barbeque was delicious but I would ask for an extra side or two of sauce. You get a large amount of sides with it. And really, I cannot get over the prices! This place is too good and well-priced to ever, ever pass up! Do yourself a favor and go if you can. read more

Management should be ashamed of what this place looks like. It didn't seem to be a very old building. I personally do not know what has happened to Cookout. I have been here 3 times in the last week for myself or someone else. The first time the inner lane was moving slowly. The second time the outer lane was super slow and my food was cold after the wait. Today both lanes super slow and after I pay and get my food I have to tell her I need my drink and cheesecake slice. She returns with the items. The cheesecake is in a bag with chili sauce all over it. The girl at the window with the red braids was super sweet but baby stop digging in your head and handling people's food. It is so unsanitary. I received no fork to eat with nor a straw. They informed her that one of the trays would take longer to cook, but she was fine with that. When she got home, her 2-year-old was eating one of the sandwiches. Concerned about the pink coloration on the chicken, my friend decided to check her toddler's sandwich. To her dismay, she discovered that the entire inner portion of the chicken was raw. We were on our way back from NC and decided to stop off in Macon for lunch. None of us had ever heard of much less visited a Cook Out so we figured we'd give it a try. The building itself was a pretty interesting style. The menu is a little confusing but seems to be a mixture of burgers, chicken, hot dogs, and barbecue. They also appear to be known for their 40 flavors of milkshakes. I chose a cup of chili and a Cajun chicken wrap. One thing I noticed is that this place is extremely inexpensive which is always a plus. My chicken wrap was $1.50! It was about the size of a snack wrap, but perfect for what I wanted. The Cajun sauce was pretty good. The chicken itself was just okay, nothing impressive. The cup of chili had a nice little kick to it and was decent. None of it was outstanding, but for a quick and cheap lunch it gets the job done. A few of us decided we had to try a milkshake since Cook Out seems to be known for them. I chose an Oreo milkshake. It's more the consistency of ice cream so grab a spoon. It was creamy and delicious ice cream so that's definitely something to try if you come across a Cook Out. read more

We were traveling on our way to Florida and stopped for a hotel in Macon Georgia It was 9pm or so. Checked into the Hampton, hungry and wanted food quick. Spotted "Cook Out" across the street and was very pleased with the burger fries and slaw, my wife got a burger, fries and onion rings. We both got a large drink... our bill was surprisingly under $16. The only reason my wife gave 4 stars is because they had my burger (double) in her container. I love this regional chain. We went through the drive thru (actually, because of Covid, that was the only option -- the dining room was closed). There were double lines, but they moved quickly. I had the grilled chicken club sandwich. I asked for no mayonnaise, but they put some on. Sigh. However, the chicken was juicy and tasty. My husband had a cheeseburger, and he was surprised by how good it was. He also had a strawberry shake, and he thought it was an excellent fast food shake. My kids had the chicken tenders and fries, and they shared the watermelon shake that was on special (only a dollar). They loved everything. I'm a restaurant District Manager, so I am approaching this from that perspective as well as from a guest perspective. There is "zero" ambience in this restaurant! While the dining area is well styled, it is dark, and lacks any background music to dampen the echo and noise. Dining room feels dungeons! There are no napkins or straws to be found...nor salt, pepper or seasonings at the drink station. Unsweetened tea being dispensed from a "plastic" pitcher sitting at the drink station. No Manager in sight! (No guest greetings, or anyone checking on tables) As for food: everything delivered in bags...no trays for dine-in???? Our order was not complete when our number was called. I stood waiting at the counter, with no interaction from any employee except the cashier (Trinity) to say "it's comin!" Food quality...typical fast food. No reason to draw a customer back. So I was in Macon and hadn't remembered to pack a lunch--My spouse notes that I "forget" to pack a lunch when I've got a greater opportunity to eat out, but I digress...--and so wanted to try something new. I saw Cook Out and figured I'd give it a shot. I was well rewarded. In the first place, the combination plates are amazing: you can get a burger and two sides for right at five dollars before tax. I opted for burger, fries, and onion rings. The burger was superb, well grilled, and tasking of grill smoke, while also accompanied by good, fresh cut fries (or fries that were able to fool me into appearing fresh cut, which is good enough for me) and onion rings. Even better is that not only is the food good, but the restaurant addresses one of the chief problems one faces eating at a burger place: the grease that gets on your fingers. The main dining area has a common hand sink with soap and paper towels so that I was able to leave both full and also without the feeling that I had a greasy film. First time ever trying this place. Wish we had this in Florida. Food was really good and affordable. They have a little bit of everything. Quesadillas, burgers, chicken, hotdogs onion rings and much more. I had the build your own tray. You get a main, and two sides and a drink. There was a little bit of a wait for the food but i think they are short staffed at this location so considering that fact they still did pretty good about being quick.
