Went here for breakfast with my best friend who is gluten-free and dairy-free! They have an amazing selection of inclusive dietary foods that taste delicious! We went for breakfast and were immediately greeted. You order at the register and they give you a table stand with a number and bring it to your table when it is ready. I got the strawberry matcha and strawberry experience waffles - both were so yummy!! The strawberry matcha was the perfect balance and the waffles were delicious with fresh strawberries, superfood "fudge" and served with real maple syrup!! My friend and I will definitely be back if we are in Newburyport again. read more

My best friend and I went here for breakfast this morning. She is both gluten-free and dairy-free and we were amazed at all of the wonderful options that they had. We were immediately greeted, ordered, were given a table number, and sat down at a cute spot! I got the strawberry Matcha latte and the strawberry experience waffles. The Matcha was so perfect and the strawberry experience waffles were delicious with fresh strawberries, super food, fudge, and real maple syrup! So yummy! I will definitely be back if I am in Newburyport again and recommend to anyone who has dietary restrictions! read more

Really impressive menu variety that boasts something for every type of eater. Even better, everything looked fresh and flavorful without compromising on nutrition! We enjoyed bahn mi bowl, Buddha bowl, and lentil soup. They were filling and paired with sauces that thankfully were sugar laden like a lot of salad dressings. Veggies were cooked to the right texture. My toddlers loved them, too. Would for sure come back! Oh, ambiance is charming, cozy, and very "Instagrammable". We were comfortable dining here and would definitely come back! read more

Went there for lunch. The food, drinks, and service were great! But please don't use AI art for your specials menu. These computer-generated food images look genuinely horrifying. read more

Both the sandwich and the breakfast plate were good. However, the tomato soup was a huge disappointment. It was neither warm nor hot when it was served. I brought it back and asked for it to be reheated before returning to my seat. Since I was only asking for the soup to be warmed up, I did not expect it to take more than five minutes. I waited patiently for about 15 minutes, possibly longer, and eventually had to walk back to the counter to ask about it. A staff member told me it would be out shortly. After waiting another five minutes, the soup was returned, but it was still not hot. The cheese had not melted and looked unappetizing. It appeared that the soup had simply been sitting out, causing the cheese to sink rather than melt properly. I brought this to a staff member's attention, but there was no apology. Instead, I was simply asked what I wanted them to do. The lack of customer service was disappointing. They asked if I wanted a refund and I decline. I was expecting an apology for the delay or at least an explanation of what had happened. Since it had rained earlier, we were looking forward to enjoying something warm, comforting and good vibes. Instead, we left with a feeling that our concerns were dismissed. An apology goes a long way, but good customer service is even more important. If you want customers to return, acknowledging mistakes and addressing concerns professionally should be expected. read more

We LOVED this place. If you're trying to eat healthier but still want delicious food this is it. They have both meat and vegan options and we went broadly vegetarian with the Banh Mi Bowl with vegan chicken and the Chipotle Avocado and Lime Bowl with seasoned tofu. Both were fabulous. We also had a latte with soy milk but there were lots of different milk options to choose from. Parking is street parking or one of the nearby lots which is what we chose. It was pretty busy even in January so I'd be prepared to give a few minutes over to parking but it's worth it. You can order at the counter or through a kiosk. We tried the kiosk but oddly it doesn't seem set up to give you a receipt so I would order at the counter next time. The staff were very nice about following up to get me my receipt but I think they just need to configure the system a bit more. Whether you order at the kiosk or the counter you take a number and the staff will bring you your food. Everyone was friendly and helpful and the dining area spacious and comfortable. There are quite a lot of good things to choose from on the menu so it will probably be returning next time we're in Newburyport to try and test out a few other items. read more

Tried this spot the other day for the first time! So glad we did. The inside is very clean and spacious with plenty of tables. They also have a little area with couches and chairs. The menu has enough variety of savory and sweet for everyone. I decided to do the strawberry waffles. They came out within a good 15 minutes of ordering. You get 4 crispy, delicious waffles which come with real syrup. I love that they're GF as well! My coffee was excellent and my dad liked his latte (he's very picky with them). The fresh pressed juice is yummy too, they are $10 but the bottle is a good size. I will be back in the future to try everything else on the menu. read more

The selections and quality of food is second to none as far as I'm concerned... as a Vegan/Veg I can find more choices than anywhere else and I've tried just about everything and liked it. Wish there were more NU kitchens :) read more

They updated the tip thing. You can chose to tip or not on take out. This was much needed.

This place has great drinks! 8 of us came in, and we each liked what we ordered. I ordered the beetroot latte out of curiosity, and it was surprisingly good! Strong beet flavor, but sweet and creamy. read more

I hate to give this place a mediocre rating, but it didn't quite live up to my expectations. I've been to one of the other locations and I've had pretty good experiences there, but I felt like the flavor and cooking style of my dish here wasn't as good. A friend of mine got a breakfast sandwich, and I got a vegan pesto scramble bowl. Hers was smaller than expected given the price, and mine was pretty salty and overly oily. It felt like every ingredient had been like fried separately and oil, and it all just came together to feel very heavy. We went during lunch time and the tables were heavily used and probably hadn't had a chance to be wiped down yet too. The menu is so good so I'd be willing to give it another shot but this one was a Miss. read more

I will never be giving my business to NU Kitchen again. On June 30 I got an order of tacos from NU kitchen. I originally placed my order "for here" and then looked at the dirty seating options and asked them to change the order to "to-go". When I grabbed my food from an employee, I said thank you and she ignored me. Then I walked to the water and tried to take a bite of one of the tacos. It totally fell apart because of the amount of sauce and liquid that was in the taco. Because I did not think to grab a fork and knife for eating tacos, I was highly dissatisfied. I have eaten plenty of corn tortilla tacos that have not fallen apart. I called immediately to share my dissatisfaction and request a refund. The employee who answered was rude and told me that there was no manager in and took my information for a manager to call me the next day. I never got a call, so I called and there was no manager in. I called three days after and still did not speak to a manager, however apparently the employee that answered this time was able to give me a refund. Not sure why they had to waste my time three separate times when the day that I got the falling apart tacos, they could have given me a refund. Interestingly enough, I thought that they had lied about giving me a refund because it took 23 days for me to receive it. Overall, I found the employees to be rude, and it may benefit them to have a manager in the shop during times of serving customers (as most restaurants make standard practice). It's probably a fine place to eat if you are satisfied, however if you get food that you are dissatisfied with, don't expect it to be handled appropriately. Big thumbs down to NU Kitchen. read more

My family is a huge fan of Nu Kitchen Newburyport! The food is always fresh and the venue is clean and spacious. We love the bowls and I appreciate being able to enjoy a refreshing bevy with a fun twist. Only other comment is the chocolate smoothies aren't as sweet, but they will add Agave at request, which makes it delish! read more

The menu at this café is very extensive, and they have different options for everyone. As someone who is gluten-free, I find their menu to be very accommodating. I also find their staff to be very friendly and helpful. The Cafe is always clean as well and they seem pretty organized. It's definitely a well run machine. I've been a repeat customer at this location, I definitely recommend a visit. read more

Very cute and modern on the inside. The woman taking our order was very nice. Our order came out quickly. I got an iced strawberry matcha (pictured) which was as delicious as it was pretty. My husband got a fresh pressed dragonfruit lemonade for $9 which I felt was pricey. read more

We came here on Mother's Day around 1 pm to pick up some food for take out. Unfortunately they were sold out of many items on the menu. That made sense though since it was Mother's Day and the restaurant was packed. What I was frustrated about was how rude the cashier was to us. She wanted us to leave (it felt like) and any time we would ask a question she gave us so much attitude. I asked what the fake bacon was made of in the vegan blt sandwich I ordered...she proceed to flip through a binder fast and said she didn't know the answer to my question. She finally asked another sales representative who was polite and gave us an answer that was reasonable. I know it can be stressful when the kitchen is busy and most items are sold out, but you still need to treat your customers with respect! The sandwich itself had a lot of potential but was unfortunately dry. I wouldn't order it again and prefer Clover's vegan BLT sandwich way more! read more

Nu Kitchen is a small chainlet of restaurants in Worcester, Somerville and now Newburyport, and you would compare it to veggie forward casual cafes like Life Alive which has taken over Boston. I wanted to like this place because I'm a huge fan of grain bowls but today it fell flat. We came on a beautiful Saturday around noon so pretty busy, I ordered the banh mi tofu bowl on the touch screen pad in the store, then grabbed a sticky wooden stick with a number and waited for quite a while at an unwashed table. (Lots of bored teen staff loitering around but seemed like they were all new/training?). The food was pretty good but heavy on pickled red onions and cucumbers, and if there was any tofu I couldn't find it. Hoping to return on a day when the place gets cleaned up and will try one of the other bowls. read more

Delicious fresh food, quick service, great place to meet friends. Also good vegetarian options

The food was solid; we liked everything we had. I was shocked they didn't have any tables I could sit at as a wheelchair user. All their tables are bar height except some low tables that are booth seating, and if I sat at the end of those booth tables, I would block the access to other tables (and those booth tables only seat 2 - and we came in with 6 people). They do have a seating area with a coffee table, but not a regular height table. Additionally, there isn't a sign by the front door directing people to the accessible side door. read more

This place is awesome! Came to Newburyport on Memorial Day for a day trip up from Boston and decided to check out this spot for brunch. Plenty of seating that we didn't expect since the back of the place expands pretty far! The decor is also super inviting, light, and aesthetic. We were really impressed by the ordering system since you can order up by the counter or put in an order with a screen yourself. We went to the self order screen and there were SO many options to customize your order (whether it's the milk in your coffee, or subbing out ANY ingredient from an item, or selecting vegan meat or milk options) I ordered an americano and the honey goat cheese and avocado breakfast sandwich: Iced Americano - 4/5 - I was happily surprised by how big their "small" size is and thought the coffee was just slightly acidic but overall pretty good! Honey goat cheese and avocado sandwich - 5/5 - this was SO yummy! When ordering, I could pick what bread and the ciabatta I picked was super fluffy and tasty. I subbed in Parmesan since I wanted a more stringy cheese and it was just that! The honey goat cheese was so tasty and not overpoweringly sweet, and the egg in the sandwich was perfect for breakfast! I wish I could have more Also, once we sat down we noticed that you can easily grab tap water and the cups that are provided are so cute (see pic)! The servers were also really friendly and the food is all very light, fresh, and tasty!! Highly recommend!! read more

A downtown Newburyport restaurant with a very spacious dining area and enormous windows overlooking a small shaded park. Easily understood menu board with a notable number of offerings. Somewhat a Starbucks vibe, as you're not rushed out after dining and conversation appears to be as much on the menu as the food choices. High ceilings, local art on display and generally a funky rework of what was likely once industrial space. Well worth the visit. read more

I love how big the menu is at NU Kitchen! There are so many healthy and delicious options for any time of day. The space is big and open with plenty of seating. When you want a great meal that you can feel good about eating I recommend NU Kitchen. Wide variety of menu items from Bowls to Sandwiches. Nice size eating area gives diners lots of room to enjoy themselves. While many eateries in Newburyport can be packed for dinner, NU Kitchen is less crowded which is fine with me. Food was tasty, and had many vegan and gluten free options, BUT our "experience" was terrible. This restaurant fell so short of expectations for basic decency and accessibility that I would never return. First, no handicap accessible seating: every seat/table is either "trendy bar-height" or slouchy soft couch-height. Next, upon using one of the two lavatories I discovered that the hand-dryer was broken...and there were no paper towels. So guests are expected to each grab the door handle with wet hands (what about sanitation?)? On my way out of the bathroom, I asked one of the food preparers if they were aware that the dryer is broken and there are no towels, and she said, "yes we know." Without any indication that they were planning to offer towels. A few minutes later, when my food was served, I had the same conversation with our server. She, too, said "yes, we know" and offered up that "someone is supposed to come fix it today." (This was at 1 PM; the restaurant closes at 4). I asked "what are people supposed to do in the meanwhile?" but she had no answer. She couldn't even suggest paper towels. This restaurant is trying so hard to be trendy that they have overlooked basic decency in their staff and amenities in their venue. I suppose they think that offering vegan and gluten free options exempts them from these basics. (Isn't handicap accessibility a requirement?) I'm glad they are not the only options for vegan, gluten free meals in the Newburyport area. My husband and I will never go back. read more

Prices are really reasonable for what you get. I love how there are so many choices for vegans. I got the vegan southwest BLT. We were looking for somewhere for a quick lunch while shopping in Newburyport and was not disappointed. The decor is fresh and modern and the staff were so nice. They have many fresh options, and gluten-free and vegetarian. The space offers many seating options, booths, tables and counter. After ordering the good is brought to your table . 4.5/5 Came here on a day trip on Memorial Day to Newburyport and checked out this cute health restaurant! Good vibes, modern decor, quick service. I ordered the short rib torta on ciabatta and it was delicious! The short rib was tender and juicy and the avocado was perfectly ripe and flavorful. Would definitely recommend! NU Kitchen is a healthy clean restaurant which opened their newest location in Newburyport recently. They offer a good variety of healthy and organic foods including breakfast served all day, salads, bowls, soups, acai bowls, smoothies, juices, coffee drinks, baked goods, and vegan friendly items too. The place is order and pay at the counter or online. There is ample seating here where you can enjoy your food and drinks in a relaxed atmosphere. I stopped in here very recently for a quick takeout dinner. There were so many choices I wanted to try including their short rib panini, salmon BLT, banh mi bowl, and the harvest tofu scramble, but I eventually ordered the Curried Cauliflower Bowl ($10.99 plus tax) to go. I enjoyed my bowl out in my vehicle since I was on a break. The bowl was delicious and fresh which had kale, pickled carrots, onions, organic brown rice, quinoa, topped with a ginger dressing, curried cauliflower, dried blueberries, & almonds. I can't wait to try out their other foods very soon! read more
