Never use these people!!!! I've had the absolute worst experience. My electricity bill is about $300 a month in my 1,500 square feet house. I don't know whether my panels are malfunctioning or I need more panels. They WILL NOT return my calls or help me resolve this problem. Other solar cos. wont help because they have a non-compete or non-interference agreement with NRG. And, I have been patient & "nice" --until writing this review. Was referred By Jerry Cerqua to have Solar installed in my home. Jerry was very knowledgeable and extremely professional. Had NRG come to my home and it was such an easy and hassle free process to get me up and running. From sales people to installers the team was excellent. I am so happy Jerry referred me to NRG, I have saved a substantial amount on my electric bill and increased the Value of my home. DO NOT do business with this company. It is a scam. Beware of high pressure sales tactics, especially targeting seniors. The company was previously known as "Roof Diagnostics". Non-stop nonsense for over 4 years. In 2012 the panels were installed incorrectly, wired backwards. There was no customer service, no resolution. My electric bills were HIGHER than with public utility. Filed numerous complains with the BBB, no response. Their 3rd party supplier, Kilowatt Financial, is even worse. No customer support, no email address, dead end 800 numbers. Also filed numerous BBB claims with no luck. Still sending bills for $3000. After 4 years they claim to have a lien on our property. No record of a contract or agreement. Meeting with an attorney to file a lawsuit! Not to mention the former CEO Kelcy Pegler, his father was the owner of Roof Diagnostics was indicted for insurance fraud in NJ and served jail time. read more

I would be weary of this company. I found them at Home Depot. They offered a gift card for a consultation. After viewing shade on my home via computer, they cancelled and told me no gift card. They were unwilling to come and view it in person, even after I offered to cut trees at my own expense. I'm glad they didn't come. If they can't stand behind a simple promise at the onset, they probably don't stand behind their product. read more

It started out ok... sort of . Intra company communications apparently stinks. The right hand never knew what the left hand was doing. 1st -Their sales person assured that an advance guy would come out to explain the process; never happened, a crew to install simply showed up and informd me they coudn't do the install because I had the wrong kind of electrical panel. So they left. Then the company (to their credit) offered to re-do my electric service at nor charge (since I already had the replacement panel and all the breakers). Finally on the fourth or fifth visit they got the system installed. And BTW: did a great job.... only....That was more than TWO MONTHS AGO, and we are losing the whole Summer.....and no one has come back to get the final electrical inspection done or have PSE&G replace me meter so we can get this thing operational. Horrible experience! Had NRG install solar panels on our building. Took over 1 year to get competed. Once working ended up paying more for electric. Between lease payment and lack of generated power from panels our bills are much higher. They also made us cut down many oxygen creating trees . They really don't offsets carbon footprint. The final problem with NRG is they damaged our siding and never repaired. Very bad customer service and see not to know what they are doing. Very disappointed. read more

Applied for a job . I know I was fully qualified for the position, but after leaving a few voice mails with the individual I meet with , I never received a response back. I feel it is a company that only wants to hire people that are young. I found that was quite rude. read more

If I could give this company a rating of 0 I would. I was totally miss-led on everything by my sales rep (Sal). I was told that we would see an average monthly savings of $175. so far it is costing me around $125/month. Even though it was never mentioned, I am being charged over $200/month for the equipment and saving only $75 on my JCP&L bill. The installation crew was awesome but that's where it starts and ends. Nice young man at Neptune Home Depot suggested I have this company evaluate my home for solar installations. I said OK. Next I receive a call from a gentleman who asks a series of questions including who is listed on my mortgage and will they be present for the appointment. I explained that wasn't necessary and the voice on the phone became pushy saying this was a requirement. This is a very old insurance sales tactic -- make sure the spouse is at the meeting so the sales person can push for a close. Please be wary of NRG. read more

Don't bother. Started out ok. Everything installed fairly quick compared to other reviews. They promised a referral check that never came despite multiple attempts to get a status. I call the office and a receptionist transfers to an answering service who "takes a message". Electric bill that was supposed to go away keeps increasing. I went into contract with NRG early in September. It started out okay until the time came for delivery and installation mid October. From there on out I had no one contact person. Each step of the way I had a different contact. I was contacted that their supplier ran out of panels a week before delivery was scheduled and they would call me when the panels came in. I called the office a month later to find out if there was any indication of when the panels would come in. I was told my file stated 10 weeks from when I was first called about them running out of panels. No one had bothered to inform me the expected time . Each time I spoke with someone else. Finally I contacted another company and called NRG to say that if I didn't get a definitive installation date I would go with the other company. Much much later that day I got a call from them to set up installation (another 2 weeks or so away). I got the feeling that if I hadn't called to threaten I would never hear from them. If this is the way they drop the ball I wonder what would happen if something went wrong. Who would I need to call? How long before someone would come out to fix problem? Bottom line, it is December 31 and I am in contract with another company. I am patient but this was over the top. read more

This company needs to treat people better! and have the people they have passing out flyers know more info before wasting peoples time! We were told by 3 different people 3 different reasons why they wouldn't be able to do our house, first it was the wrong shape then it was too small then it was the wrong style omg people get your stories straight! They ask for personal information to run a credit check without even telling us! Which I'm guessing is the real reason they didn't want to have us as a coustomer, but had they told us before we could have told them we have it set up so that no one can check our credit. Every time someone checks your credit it actually hurts your score so 2 years ago when we were buying our house we went on line to opt out of anyone checking our credit and just left it that way. Had they been more honest with potential customers they would have known that and it could have saved us all a lot of wasted time....Thanks again for all the random phone calls and wasting our time. read more

We signed up over 3 months ago to have NRG install solar panels on our home (20-yr lease). We were told "normally" this takes approximately 2-3 months to complete. We were told installation would take 1-2 days max. We had people in and out of our house for 4 days (which we had to take off from work to accommodate). Since then, we've had to be home to let someone in 3 more times, for "inspections". We do have solar panels on our roof now, but have been getting the "run-around" from various staff members in the office, when we ask about status of getting the system running, since having panels with no system isn't helpful at all. We asked for a manager to call us back over a week ago, and were told "I'll pass that along". Yeah sure...this company has EXTREMELY poor customer service. If we knew that ahead of time we would never have signed up. At this point, we have panels on our roof doing nothing and no one at NRG will respond to a call or e-mail except our original sales rep (who I do have to say has been very nice, even though she doesn't have all the info we want/need). We have a signed contract so if this doesn't get moving soon, or we at least get a response from someone, I will contact the Attorney General and complain. We wouldn't recommend anyone go with NRG. Find another solar company...there are many out there with more experienced and friendlier customer service staff, who will actually inform you of what they're doing and when, and not try to hide it and keep it a secret from you. read more
